You can be 100% positive that the hiring manager didn’t want to move forward with you in that moment. He essentially is pawning the uncomfortable task of writing the ‘thanks, but no thanks letter’ off on the recruiter. Even if the hiring manager knew they weren’t going to hire you halfway through the interview, they would prefer to have someone else break the news for them… because they can.Best case scenario is that the hiring manager wants to wait for something better, or s/he is up in the air and can’t decide between you or another candidate.People get offers on the spot all of the time. Often times managers will give verbals offers before even notifying the recruiter about a decision being made.You should have gotten the contact information of the manager while you were in the interview. I got 7 by doing the following:Writing task 2: finished the writing lessons on IELTSbuddy - Free exam preparation to improve your test scoreWriting task 1: studied the letters samples on Welcome to IELTS-blog! , they are all level 7 btwReading and listening: printed all reading and listening exams found on Cambridge IELTS 6 to 10 books. Solving the exams of one book of this series should be enough. Just make sure to time yourself; must finish each reading exam in one hour or less.Speaking: this is a bit tricky. I focused on fluency. Printed the few speaking exam samples on Cambridge IELTS books and practiced answering them. Also, during the day right before the exam, Try to speak and think in English ONLY. Your brain will do a magical switch the next day.After I got my 7, I became greedy and wanted to get 8. I tried many times but kept getting 7 until I found Hong Kong's Number One IELTS Course Based on Official Results Band 8.0. After which I got 8.5 (thanks Gabriel)For the longest time I never knew words were classified into levels, even sentences structures are classified as well. You would have to memorize and practice those complex structures and vocab if you ever hopped to get 8My speaking became much better by practising reading out loud, and by practicing voice acting as well [Listen and Read Along (Flash/MP3)]. Google translate was also of great help in reading for me. And there was this wonderful guy:Finally, I did manage to get a full mark of 9 in reading and listening. For that I used Cambridge IELTS books. I was solving one reading exam and one listening exam everyday for 8 days right before taking the real test.Hope you've found my IELTS journey helpful.
