Thanks for asking, Shahrukh. I had almost forgotten about a bully who made my life miserable during my first work experience until I received questions about bullying on Quora. I was having a difficult time trying to manage all of my responsibilities as a medical secretary in a small office environment. I was nervous and anxious because I had to be home in time to pick up my son who was in elementary school.At first I didn't realize that there was a bully. A technician always ignored me and never spoke to me but that didn't bother me. Then I started to receive strange telephone calls and no one responded when I answered the call. This kept happening but because I had so much to do, I didn't take the time to investigate.Then I had some office notes on my desk that had important information. I left my desk for a few minutes and when I got back, my notes were gone. I was upset and I ran around asking everyone if they had picked them up by mistake. The bully told me it was my imagination and I must have put them somewhere else.I asked a neighbor to look after my son and I searched the office after work. I looked everywhere and could not find them.The next incident made me cry. As I was walking down the hallway, the bully stuck out her tongue. I had never been treated in this manner and I was very hurt. I spoke to the manager and about her actions and he did nothing to help me.Fortunately, there was a new older man who was hired to do some filing in the office. He could see what was going on and he was sympathetic. He told me that I should look for another job. I decided he was right and I gave my notice. During a few days before I left, I typed letters to everyone that was connected to that office about the treatment I received including the fact that no one had been willing to help me.Leaving was the best decision because I did get another position in a primary care and OB/GYN office and ended up covering for the nurses when they were out. I found that patient care was my passion and I went back to college to earn a certified medical assisting degree. I loved the work and I guess I should be thankful because that bully gave me the chance to discover that I was meant to work with patients.In summary, I believe that bullies can make you miserable but they can also make you strong. If I had stood up to that bully the first time, I would have felt empowered and that would have increased my self-esteem.

Yes last summer. I participated in a workforce development program for Medical Front Office/ Medical Administrative Assistant. I completed the diagnostic testing (for Math and English); I passed with flying colors.I studied Medical Terminology, got CPR and HIPAA certified, and learned about billing, customer service, insurance information, writing letters, and operating a front office.All of the program participants received a workforce counselor who looked over resumes, cover letter, referred jobs to me, etc.I interviewed and received a job as a Medical Front Office Assistant but I turned it down due to another opportunity. Currently, I'm pursuing my dream of working in the Human Resources field. I don't really plan on becoming a Medical Front Office Assistant.
