I’m actually a doctor.”Someone tells Jon he is graduating nursing school next week. Jon replies, genuinely, “Congrats - it is a great field. I’m sure you’ll do great.” Jon is also a doctor. Many have seen this photo as I have shared it before on another answer, but from left to right is 1998 when I graduated high school and twenty years later 2018 when I graduated nursing (my 3rd degree). It is a bit odd that I look the same since my high school years, but I promise it is mainly due to genetics, sunscreen, and a little bit of anti-inflammatory lifestyle factors.

Yes. My niece. But not until she had her first baby. I found out I wasn’t allowed to come see her. This was from her husband. Hmmm. None of us can understand this whatsoever. Growing up, she was my pride and joy. She’d come up from NC to PA and spend summers with me. I took photos of her when she thought she’d like to be a model. (She’s beautiful). I built her a canopy bed and we remodeled her bedroom when she was in high school. She graduated Nursing school despite the fact that her mom, my only sister, committed suicide. I drove to her graduation. I spent $10,000 on her wedding a couple of years later. The venue, the food, did every decoration and wedding flowers (it’s my business) Bought her wedding dress, went shopping with her. Her dad died suddenly shortly after the wedding (a tragic accident a few years prior).I rented a truck and helped her, her husband and my nephew deal with his stuff. I even took his dog that no one knew what to do with.She got pregnant, it was so exciting! She flew up and my mom and I gave her a little baby shower. I noticed she didn’t want anything I’d given her- no room in her suitcase ( really? Tiny booties?). Didn’t want me to ship the rest. Hmm.The baby came, my mom and I were planning on going down to see the new bundle of joy. My mom and her were always close.“Nana, you can come. But Aunt Cindy isn’t allowed in our house”.“Why?”“I don’t know, Spenser (husband) doesn’t want her here. He’s never liked her”). REALLY?? Then why did he always hug me- took me to his parents house and I sent his dad homemade salsa and pepper plants?)My mom said “if she’s not good enough for you, then you’re not good enough for me”.It was horrible. To this day, I just don’t understand. None of us do. I just don’t get it. So - it’s torn my family apart. I couldn’t go to my nephew’s wedding because I was afraid someone would make a scene, I’d start crying (or worse) and I couldn’t bear to spoil his wedding. Now he and his wife are having a baby. I have to make sure I don’t run into them. It’s just devastating- and it absolutely baffles me. With no explanation at all. So sad. And my mom still won’t talk to her. I wish I knew what I did wrong.
