I'm a latino and an independent.I did not support Trump in 2016 but I couldn't bring myself to support Hillary. The media basically made me stay home.I'll vote for Trump in 2020 because.My life and pay have considerably improved since 2016. The ACA basically doubled my insurance in less than a year at a time when I was making almost no money and living off of my post 9/11 benefits while attending school.The out right racism and sexism shown by the left makes my head spin. Apparently it's fine to spew as much vitriol as you want as long as it's directed towards white heterosexual males. I've been accused of being a white supremacist for saying that. Back to number 1, the “White Patriarchy” helped this brown guy escape from the projects and become a solidly middle class college educated civilian. They didn't hand it to me on a plate, I had to work hard and sacrifice. Apparently hard work is oppression to the far left. Divisive and destructive things like reparations will destroy this country in short order.I swore an oath to protect the constitution of the United States. The Democrats have shown no qualms about end runs around the first, second, 4th, 5th, 12th and 14th amendments.As far as I was concerned they had one chance to get my vote. though I didn’t agree with her on alot of things, I respected Tulsi Gabbard as a fellow soldier and sister in Arms.She was the most sane out of the entire lot of democratic candidates and I said long before she dropped (was forced out) that i would vote for her if she ran. Instead she gets called a “Russian Asset” by her own party. Where was the respect for a combat veteran they demand for Col Vindman now?Impeachment is supposed to be for a crime not a process to look for one. There have been calls to impeach Trump since before he took the oath of office, this long string of nothing burgers means if he actually does do something impeachable, I’m (and a lot of other people are) far too exhausted of the process to care anymore. meaning he will likely get away with it.If you disagree with ANYTHING on the democrat agenda, you are a racist, a homo,trans (or whatever) phobe, or even worse.So why move right let me illustrate my views and why.Pro 2nd amendment right and unacceptable to most of the leftPro gay marriage: Puts me to the left but as a heterosexual male, not worth falling on my sword overPro Choice: Left again, but my wife and I can’t have children so a moot point.Pro Capital punishment: I don’t understand how you can be pro choice and then cry about the worst of humanity being put to death, but whatever. Yes it has been abused in the past but if some of the convicted didn’t deserve to die, then none of the aborted babies did either.Agnostic: Should make me left but the way the left treats Christians is shameful and disrespectful the right doesn’t give a damn and that’s the way it should be.Pro strict Immigration controls.It’s just common sense. You try to take everybody in, soon you have nothing. Many immigrants took the long difficult path to legal immigration. Allowing those who broke the law a free pass to the head of the line is a slap in the face to all of them.Pro Legal Marajuana,: Deprive the drug cartels of a revenue stream. But I won’t give up the ability to bear arms to roll joints. You won’t overthrow a tyrannical government or defend your home and family with ganja.Free speech needs to be protected at all costs, ESPECIALLY if you find it offensive. It is a very thin line between Disagreement and Offensive and the left gets offended very easily.The list goes on and on.I find myself socially progressive but financially and constitutionally very conservative.The things I lean left on are just not important enough for me to move on the things I believe are necessary for this great nation to survive as a Federal Republic.So yeah, I don’t like Trump as a person but like none of the democrats as politicians and I’m voting for a politician not a friend.Go ahead and comment, I won’t delete a thing as if it’s respectful, we can have a debate, if it’s not, it will just make my point.

That it will be loud, chaotic and extremely difficult to implement in a country with such humongous population!For those who are still struggling with the jargon used by media, let me explain what CAA and NRC is!Now, before we dig deep and talk about what changes CAA will bring, we need to understand a bit of our country’s history and geography.India’s neighboring countries are:PakistanBangladeshChinaSri LankaAfghanistanMyanmarAnd, historically, there has been migration of people from these countries to India in huge numbers.1960–71 (Bangladesh Freedom Movement): Bangladeshis migrated to India.[1]1959–60 (China Tibet war): Tibetans migrated to India.[2]1979 (Soviet Afghan war): Afghans migrated to India.[3]1980–2000 (Sri Lanka Civil war): Sri Lankan tamils migrated to India.[4]2015–17: Rohingyas of Myanmar migrated to India.[5]Till now, the term ‘Citizen’ of India was interpreted as per its definition given under ‘Citizenship Act of 1955’. (You may skip this definition as it is too technical)According to the Citizenship Act, 1955, amended in 1986, anyone born in India up to July 1, 1987 is an Indian citizen by birth. For those born on or after July 1, 1987, the law set out a fresh condition: one of the parents must be an Indian citizen. By a 2003 amendment, for any individual born on or after December 3, 2004 to be considered an Indian citizen, one parent must be an Indian citizen while the other must not be an illegal immigrant.Also, till now, ‘Illegal Immigrant’ was defined as a foreigner who either enters the country without valid documents or who exceeds his period of stay beyond the permitted time.And now, the CAA intends to amend this definition. According to the new definition, people ofAfghanistanPakistanBangladeshshall not be considered as Illegal immigrant if they migrated India before 31st December 2014 if they belong to these six communities,HinduSikhsBuddhistsJainsParsisChristiansAlso, previously the act stated that if a Pakistani wanted to acquire Indian citizenship, he needed to stay in India for 11 years to acquire the citizenship. However, the CAA amends the definition for citizenship too. It states that the mentioned six communities of the three countries would get citizenship in India if they stay for a period of 5 years. Hence, to simply put people of these six communities who migrated India before 31st December 2014,Shall now, not be ‘Illegal Immigrants’Shall now be ‘Indian Citizens’The obvious question which would arise is why only these six communities? and also why ‘Muslims’ are not covered here in the list?Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh are three countries close to India which are declared as Islamic countries. These three countries have Muslims as their majority population.The rationale here is, these six communities are ‘Minorities’ in these three countries. Not just this, they were also persecuted on various grounds. ‘Persecution’ would mean any sort of discrimination or violence against a group of people.This is why there has be so much hullabaloo as to the whole exercise being ‘anti-muslim’!Assam has his own history due to which we are witnessing so much of protests from Northeastern states, especially Assam.Assam locals had to face problems due to the influx of illegal immigrants, specifically Bangladeshis, due to which elections in Assam were cancelled. This resulted in Assam Andolan from 1979–1985[6][6][6][6] and Assam Accord in 1985.According to the Assam Accord, if one migrated to Assam after 24th March 1971, then he/she would be illegal immigrant. And therefore there was a need to maintain the records of citizens which was why NRC (National Register of Citizen) came into force. This actually protected the interests of people in Assam.But now, as CAA comes into play, these illegal immigrants from Bangladesh would be now legal immigrants plus citizens of India if they are in India before 31st December 2014 and belong to the above mentioned 6 communities.Now, the entire CAA plus NRC would be a big mess. Lets understand why?People of India, both Muslims and Non-muslims will have to stand in queue to prove their citizenship. All this exercise to find out who is an ‘Illegal Immigrant’.Plus, there is a lot of uncertainty too. Like,What documents would be asked?If the documents like Aadhar card or voting card would suffice, won't this be easily available even to the 'Illegal Immigrants'?If they need one to prove the ancestral origin, won't this cause hardship to people in general?How will the entire procedure be implemented?How would they proceed with the illegal immigrants?Would they be sent back to their country?Would they be put in the detention centers?Are there enough of these already?What would be the cost to the government?I can only imagine the cost and the corruption that would creep in due to this entire episode!Remember demonetization? Well, the purpose was to punish the black money hoarders and we know what it resulted in. The conclusion was hardship to lot of genuine people in an attempt to punish few.A very basic rule of law is 'Let a hundred guilty be acquitted, but one innocent should not be convicted'. Given the population of India and the proven track record of implementation of policies, least we can assure is there would be cases where an ‘innocent citizen’ being considered as ‘illegal immigrant’ and an ‘illegal immigrant’ being considered as an ‘Indian citizen’.I remember Shahsi Tharoor’s tweet during demonetization,Fable: To hunt crocodiles,86% water was drained from the pond.
