The other cards I got were based on long-term usage. I'll throw a few good promotions out for you, tell you about my one card, and a warning.The Capital One Venture Card is offering 75,000 miles after spending $5,000 in the first 3 months.The Capital One Savor Card is offering $500 cash back after spending $3,000 in the first 3 months.The Chase Sapphire Preferred Card is offering $50,000 points after spending $4,000 in the first 3 months.The IHG(hotel) Rewards Club Premier is offering 80,000 points after spending $2,000 in the first 3 months. You can also earn another 5,000 points after adding your first authorized user and if you make your first purchase within the first 3 months.The Capital One QuickSilver card is offering $150 after spending $500 in the first 3 months. I included this one because their minimum spending requirement is so little, it shouldn't take long at all to get the bonus.The last one is the Discover It card. Their bonus makes it so you have to keep it for a full year in order to get your bonus. To me, it's worth it though. Discover does Cashback Match. What that means is Discover will match all the cashback you've earned at the end of the first year automatically, essentially doubling everything.The one card I went for the promotion on is the American Express Gold Card. At the time, it was their Premier Rewards Gold Card. Normally, if you go looking on their website, you're given 25,000 points if you spend $2,000 in the first 3 months. I was sent a targeted offer for 50,000 points if I spent $2,000 in the first 3 months. I had been wanting this card for awhile for other reasons, so when I got that offer, I jumped on it in a heartbeat.Warning: Credit card companies are now cracking down on churning.
