→ Let me tell you about the time a buddy and I convinced a couple of soldiers that they needed to apply a generous coating of lube to their butts. Wait, wait. It's not what you think.It was a simpler time --1991. I was a Specialist, a Combat Medical Specialist, in the California Army National Guard, to be exact. We were at our annual 2 week Summer training event. I got tasked to support another unit while performing deployment physicals. My buddy and I had pretty much lucked out with our “cake” jobs. We were fortunate to be in an air conditioned gym, rather than out in the woods. Much better than dealing with dehydration, getting and treating poison ivy, and blistered feet.Our job wasn't too hard. One end of the gym had about 8 or 10 little offices. That is where we set up shop. Outside of the room, while the Doc was performing the physical on the previous guy, we would start asking questions about the next guy’s medical history. Pretty straight forward stuff. All healthy males between about 18 and 50. We would instruct them that once the previous guy would came out they were to hurry in, strip down to their underwear. We would quickly get their height, weight, blood pressure, temp, pulse, and respirations. Afterward we documented any scars and tattoos, we would swab their cheek for a DNA sample, then step out to prep the next guy while the Doc performed the actual exam. They would check range of motion, look at the spine, and check for hernias, amongst other things. For the lucky few, other things meant what we called the over 40 physical. This included the dreaded prostate exam, infamous amongst all male soldiers. Having to receive one instantly made the poor guy the butt of all jokes.I happened to notice 2 obviously new privates, trying to give an older, nervous looking Specialist quite a rough time. Now, I've heard and probably used all of their jokes myself. But these guys were relentless and the old guy was starting to sweat and shake a little with anxiety. I looked over to my buddy and said, “I don't know what these guys are so cheerful about, they are getting the proctological exam too.” My buddy shook his head, stared down at his boots, and said, “Damn, I remember my first one, that shit hurt like hell.” My buddy was a husky Puerto Rican guy, with a bushy black mustache. He looked a lot like Saddam Hussein and he always had this very serious look on his face. I almost believed him for a second.The older guy went in grinning, and we had time to work more on the new guys. A couple of soldiers behind them figured out what we were doing and helped feed the flames. After a bit the rooms opened up and the Docs came out with their patients. They said they were going to take a quick 10 minute break. They wanted us to go ahead and get the next guys ready. There were about 350 soldiers to process and they wanted to keep things going.I couldn't hear what my buddy was telling his patient, but I had my guy shaking worse than the old Specialist was. After I had him strip down to his shorts, I explained that he would need to pre lube himself for the exam. About this time my buddy knocked on the door and came in. He said, “You gotta come help me talk to this guy. Man, he doesn't think he needs to pre lube. I don't want to have to clean up the blood again. That shit bothers me.”I said, “Yeah, I hate it when they scream like that. I think I'm gonna have nightmares. I could hear your guy scream through the wall this morning.”My buddy said, “Damn dude I feel so bad too. I forgot to tell him to lube up. I didn't know it was his first one. I thought he knew. The Doc got mad at me.” Then he said, “Have you got any more KY Jelly?”I reached in a drawer and tossed him a tube. I said, “Yeah, these older guys go through the stuff like butter. They know it's so much easier when they really prep the site well.”Still skeptical, our guy is just staring at us, shaking his head. I point at the half empty tube of KY on the counter. I pointed at the box of rubber gloves and the stack of paper towels. I walked over to the trash can and tapped it with my foot. It was three quarters full of paper towels and rubber gloves.I said, “listen man, he's going to do the exam whether you want it or not. You are in the Army! Remember? Remember all those guys out there? We have to get you all through today. The Doctor doesn't have time to mess around greasing up everyone's butt. Plus he's a Doctor, it's his job to perform the exam. It's not his job to sit here and lube your butt for you. He's in a hurry and told me to have you guys ready when he comes back. Are you trying to get me in trouble or something? Geez, what did I ever do to you?”As I started to walk toward the door, I said, “Screw it man, I don't care. It's your butt. If you want it to hurt it’s your problem. I warned you. I'm going to go get a paper you can sign that says you are refusing to pre lubricate against medical advice.”He's like, “No man, you don't need that paper.” I saw him reaching for the KY. I finished up his chart. Right before I walked out, I heard the snap of a rubber glove. It took all I had not to break down and start laughing. I nearly had tears in my eyes.As I stared gathering the history of the next guy, the Docs walked up and went into the rooms.Those two guys came out of the rooms with their heads down and moving in a hurry. Maybe they were just happy to have not actually had the exam. All I heard was one of them mumble, “That's fucked up.” He said this as he dug a fist full of sticky underwear out of his butt, while scurrying by.The Doc asked me what was up with that guy. He said he was acting odd and it looked like he had been messing around with the lube or something. I couldn't keep from busting up and had to tell the truth. He got a big kick out of it and went to go tell the other Doc. They both agreed that was the happiest they had ever seen two guys get when they told them it was over and to get dressed.-–------------There was also a time when I convinced my daughter and her two friends that you can charge your cell phone with static electricity.I explained how you had to walk in a circle while you drug your stockinged feet on the carpet. They were a little skeptical when I said they must simultaneously rub your cellphone battery on top of your head.I was lucky to have a balloon nearby. It was easy to illustrate my point by doing the old balloon on the head - make the hair stand up trick. I drove it home by sliding around the room and then shocking one on the tip of the nose with my index finger.I should have recorded the 11 year olds as they skidded around the room, bumping into each other, and messing up their hair.One of them still believes it kind of works. She recently informed me that it works a little better in airplane mode. Her hair always seems a bit disheveled.

Despite decades of research attempting to prove smoking marijuana causes cancer, there has been no study demonstrating a causal link between marijuana smoking and cancer. Also problematic is the fact the results of the 1969-1970 survey of the conscripts was also used to determine tobacco use and alcohol use, so if some of the marijuana users started smoking cigarettes later in life, or drank heavily later, that's an important factor seemingly omitted from the study. EDIT 2 : ( April 10, 2020 )Strangely, this answer was collapsed by Quora moderation few days ago. It was restored today morning after an appeal.On March 31, the negative test reports came in and my son was discharged from hospital and came back home in an Ambulance van.Health department staff visited and put a Quarantine Notice outside the door. Home Quarantine is now extended till April 19, 2020.Once again, I would take this opportunity to thank Panchkula Police and District Administration.Fresh set of clothes was collected from my house and delivered to my son at the hospital by the police personnel.Two days ago there was another visit by the police to confirm that all of us were fine and staying at home.Health department staff visits every day.Through these interactions I learnt that food is being provided to poor families on a regular basis by the District Administration.These are tough times.Our heart must go out to those less fortunate who are facing the real hardships either because of the virus or because of the lock down effect.As on 12:00 hrs on March 30, 2020 :How has the coronavirus affected you? :Reports came in this morning —— INCONCLUSIVE.It is neither positive nor negative.Second set of samples is taken today and sent for testing.Result will be known by tomorrow evening.For my son, isolation and stay in the hospital continues.For all of us, the wait is becoming longer.There is no alternative but to bear with the situation.Earlier Answer:It is the morning of March 28, 2020. I also do not know whether my wife is infected or not.That status will be known in next few hours.Why the concern?:My son and daughter in law returned from Texas, USA on March 22, 2020 , the last day the flights were allowed into India.After a very long wait at Delhi Airport, they were screened and advised HOME QUARANTINE and allowed to proceed to Panchkula, Haryana where I presently live.With a lot of difficulty they could get a taxi to come to Panchkula.At the same time, I was facing a lot more difficulty with the Residents Welfare Association of the Group Housing Society where I live.Some people were of the opinion that my son and daughter in law should not be permitted to come here.We talked to the Doctor assigned to Corona Task Force, Panchkula District. She assured that home quarantine is alright and the other residents can not dictate such terms. But it would be advisable to practice self quarantine for all the 4 persons at home.Somehow the people agreed ( reluctantly ) and my son and daughter in law arrived at around 7:00 pm. Remember, it was the day of Janata Curfew.Tension Again — Police, Ambulance, Hospital:At about 9:00 pm, a police person came to our door making inquiries about the persons arriving from abroad.After ascertaining the facts about screening at the Airport, seeing the HOME QUARANTINE stamping on their hands, he told us not to worry and left.It seems some residents were not happy with his efforts and made him call the Civil Hospital.Some 30 minutes later, he came back with a para medical person in hazmat suit to take all four of us to hospital in an ambulance.After screening at the hospital, we were again sent back to our place to follow the HOME QUARANTINE.Now we had the local hospital’s signed advice document with us.Fake WhatsAPP News Next Day :We thought that the ordeal was over.It is never like this in our society.I saw a WhatsApp message in the morning:“Residents are advised not to allow people coming from other countries into their houses and neighborhoods. Last night Panchkula Police lifted two people who had come from Australia and took them to hospital where they were found positive. “This time I sent a message to the society group that I will be taking legal action against whosoever is spreading fake news.It was retracted immediately.It appears someone reported to Police as well and very soon I had Police presence again at my door, this time to support us.They advised us to stay at home and in case of any problem call the Police and gave their phone numbers.Well done, Panchkula Police. Thanks for your efforts.Why the concern today? :I was already living under some tension. On March 26, 2020 around 10:00 pm, my son felt a mild fever.Yesterday morning, he checked the temperature around 8:00 am. It was 100 degree FNot high fever. At 10:00 am it was same 100 degree.He thought it fit to report it to the Authorities because we should not be spreading the disease.We informed the hospital. An ambulance was sent. He was taken to the hospital. Samples have been taken and sent to PGI, Chandigarh for testing.Reports will be known sometime during the day today.What Next ?If reports are negative, he will be sent back and the home quarantine continues.If reports are positive, he stays in the isolation ward and treatment begins.All 3 of us will also be going to hospital to be kept in isolation and tested. Again, we wait for the results—- Negative or Positive.This is my experience with the corona virus till today.It will change tomorrow.My request to readers :If you notice the symptoms, please report to authorities. Do not hide it. You may be fine but do not take the risk. Other lives are also at risk.I close it here as now I have to prepare for the likely visit and confinement in hospital.I will be very happy if that is not required.But being prepared is always better.
