A partner shouldn’t be the “missing piece” of your life, they should be a wonderful addition to your life, a part you didn’t know you wanted that adds to the richness of life.If you are aware of what you want in life, are you in place to begin to make that happen? Have you attained the necessary education and/or work experience. Are you in a financially stable situation so that the added expense of a relationship (and it can be an expense, for both parties, not necessarily a high one, but it’s there) isn’t daunting? There once was a question of geographic stability, but we’re seeing more and more long distance relationships with the improvements in technology (ask me how I know, lol) so that’s less important. But it adds more pressure on the financial part of the “readiness checklist”, because travelling costs money, and for a LDR to succeed you need to see each other as frequently as possible. Then there is sexual interests and outlook. Are you open minded? Do you know what you like, things that you want to try? It’s good to find a partner that shares some, if not most, of those sexual tastes or will to experiment.Are you vulnerable from a recent breakup? Not a good time to be getting into a new serious relationship. Are you afraid of commitment? Not good to try to work through those issues with another person who may be more “all-in” on the relationship with you. Do you have trust issues? Again, that’s something you need to work out before getting into a relationship.So, financial stability, educational level, outlook on life, emotional availability, sexual outlook, and personal assurance; all of those have to coalesce for the person to be ready. Then, when they have coalesced and you’re in that place; you have to actually meet a person who is in the same place as you, is open to a relationship and actually likes you.That’s a lot of things that need to fall into place at the right time to meet the right partner.
