Rational Unified Process (RUP) is an object-oriented and Web-enabled program development methodology. According to Rational (developers of Rational Rose and the Unified Modeling Language), RUP is like an online mentor that provides guidelines, templates, and examples for all aspects and stages of program development. RUP and similar products -- such as Object-Oriented Software Process (OOSP), and the OPEN Process -- are comprehensive software engineering tools that combine the procedural aspects of development (such as defined stages, techniques, and practices) with other components of development (such as documents, models, manuals, code, and so on) within a unifying framework.

I started my career as a Java Developer 13 years back, and transitioned into a Business Analyst role, pretty soon. So, I can only telly you what I did, and hopefully that will give you some perspective or pointers on how to go about it.Assumption: You are already in IT or IT related job and understand the different roles in a project/organization.Start by reading the documents and artifacts prepared by Business Analysts on your project. Read and understand the structure and the content. If you are used to reading the Functional Specification Documents they prepare, ask if you can get hold of the Business Requirement Documents and the Scope document. This will help you understand, on a very high level, the kind of work that is involved in Business Analysis.Business Analysis, is more about understanding the business and comparatively a little less about technology. So, start with gaining the domain knowledge of the project you are currently working on. Not just the operations for which you are writing code, you need to understand the business. For example, healthcare, insurance, manufacturing, banking, finance etc. will be the core business of the client/company you are working for, therefore, try and gain knowledge on “what” they do, instead of “how” they do it. I was working for a Hedge Fund Administrator client, so I got myself certified from National Stock Exchange of India on Derivatives and Securities modules. That helped me understand their business a bit more, and understand “what” they do.Business Analysis, like any other role (programming, testing, project management) has a structure, procedures, guidelines, methodology and standards. In order to understand the work involved in BA’s daily life, you need to get some sort of qualification. It can be a certification from ITIL or BCS (two most recognized certifications). This will give you a good understanding of the approach taken by BAs, the tools they use, the problems they face, the solutions they propose and the structure of the documentations they prepare. You can also get an MBA and then get into Business Analysis, which is a long drawn and ineffective way, and unfortunately, which is the route I took. Thankfully the organization which hired me had a lot of well defined processes, governance and document templates, which helped me gain all the knowledge pretty quick.Attitude and Aptitude - BA’s in most of the projects, are not just the translators between Business and IT, but also play an important role of problem solvers. While speaking/gathering requirements from the business, you need to understand their problems completely. Your attitude to deal with business and your aptitude to understand the problems and suggest solutions will be a great help, in your BA career.This answer is, at a high level, an attempt to give a only a basic structure or approach to becoming a BA. Pardon my tardiness. I had to get a second opinion on this question and two things I have for you so far and more forth coming. The US constitution is the guideline/template for America Law that no state can go against. Although different states differ in the way that they implement, carry out, and punish for the breaking of these laws. They can not go outside of the US constitution. If so and someone has a claim of this then it becomes a FEDERAL ISSUE because they protect the right of US citizens. What I found out that is interesting is that all states including Nebraska has their own STATE version of a Constitution on how they carry out as we said>> The breaking/punishments of said law.
