I do support the Modi government for their work rather than being a fan of Modi. Modi is still popular and people support him, but there are reasons for it. I will state my reasons with an unbiased review of present government. It is essential to know why the masses support the present government.Road and Highway construction: When BJP took over in 2014, the road construction rate stood at 11.67km/day. It rose to 12km/day in fiscal 2014–15, 16.6 km/day in 2015–16, 22.5 km/day in 2016–17. The pace of building highways from April 2017- January 2018 has been 21.46km/day. Also, total construction has been 6439 kms in the first 10 months of FY 2017–18, compared to 5492 km in first 10 months of previous FY[1] . UPA added over 15005 km of highways in its 2011–2014. While NDA added 18432 kms in 2014–2017. [2] WINNER- Clearly NDA.Railway tracks laid: Under NDA railway tracks have been laid 11.5% faster than UPA. In 2009–2014, 10,245 km of tracks have been laid. Average of 2049km/year. While, NDA has laid 8382.75 km till August 17, 2017. [Assuming it to be 3.5 years the average tracks constructed per year has been 2395 km/year]. [3] WINNER- Again NDA.Employment and Social Security: Well known promise. But here NDA is weak. Unemployment rate has increased from 4.9% of labour force [in 2013–14] to 5% of labour force in 2015–16. In 2016–17, Economic Survey also the labour ministry has stated the Employment growth as sluggish. July 2014-December 2016 [not including Jan-Mar 2016], 641,000 jobs have been created in manufacturing, healthcare, transport, IT, trade, construction, education and accommodation. In July 2011- Dec 2013, the same eight sectors added 1.28 million jobs. Lesser jobs, slow job creation hence lesser social security. [4] WINNER- UPA.Swachh Bharat Mission : Started by UPA as Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan. Under this UPA built 95,35,456 toilets fro 2012–2014. [4767728 toilets per year under UPA on average]. NDA repacked it as Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and from 2014–2017, 4,55,81,550 toilets have been Built. [15193850 toilets an year on average].[5] Additionally, now we are really able to see the improvement in cleanliness of Railway stations and many other public places. The awareness about cleanliness has increased drastically under present government. WINNER- NDARural Housing: In 2011–2015, 5430877 units have been approved and 2016–2017, 1 crore units have been approved. Despite tremendous tries there is no precise data about completion of these units.[6] WINNER- NDA, because the units approved in the period 2011–2014 will be less and the average per year approved by UPA is also less.Urban Housing: UPA under Rajiv Awas Yojana approved 1,60,931 units [about 20000 units completed]. NDA approved 21,00,475 units. Again, no precise data on completions.[7] WINNER- NDA, although there is no precise data on completions, one thing is sure that getting approvals for houses is much easier than before[In case of both rural and urban]. That’s why there is tremendous increase in the number of approved houses.Sensex: At start of Modi’s tenure, sensex was at 24717. After 3 years, 25.5% jump, sensex after completion of 3 years Modi government it was at 31,028. Under UPA-I, there was 182.1% change in sensex [5123 to 14454]. While under UPA- II, the change in first 3 years was only 15.4%[13887 to 16026]. Net-change/year in sensex under 10 years of UPA= 1959.4 [(24717–5123)/10]. Net change/ year under NDA= 2103(approx.).[8] WINNER- NDA.Performance of forces against extremism- 2014–2018, 990 civilians,700 security force personnel martyred and 1809 terrorists have been killed. 2005–2013, 6813 civilians, 2934 soldiers martyred and 8386 terrorists martyred. Average number of civilian and security force fatalities, NDA= 422.5/year, UPA= 1083/year. While number of terrorists killed/year, NDA= 452.25/year, UPA= 931.77/year. Left wing extremism has been handled better by NDA while UPA did better in Kashmir.[9]NDA not killing terrorists rapidly but bloodshed is less. UPA killed rapidly, but fatalities were much more. These stats can be manipulated and presumed in many ways and anyone can be called winner, some will call UPA as winner[for killing more terrorists] and some will call NDA as winner[for lesser fatalities] .Considering efforts of both governments trying to curb extremism I will give it as a TIE.Implementation of Aadhaar Card, Digitization-Aadhaar was a mere card like the other cards. There was no clear vision since it was introduced. The implementation of Aadhaar number, linking it with mobile number, PAN and other government services. Under UPA there was never a push to link it to various services, hence it was taken for granted. Here things actually don’t work till the ass is set on fire. The scheme can be successful and its benefits can be reaped only if most of the people are brought under it. Unless there is no severe push Aadhaar would just remain another card. The NDA government has really pushed and things are happening rapidly than ever before. Although, SC interfering in such things is a bit awkward, it only hinders the expansion of a great chain to various services. The Aadhaar Act by UPA and NDA also has some differences. For digitization, digital certificates and other documents verified by e-sign, DigiLocker - Wikipedia, was launched in 2015, e-signed documents were almost invisible before that [hoping that soon better authentication systems will be developed, and digital documents are accepted for all required purposes, still digital documents are seen like they were made in some other planet]. As per the UIDAI, NDA’s Aadhaar act is stronger than the one passed under UPA. [10] WINNER- NDA. I could not find sources for claims in this issue, many things are based on personal experiences.Rural Electrification- As of May 25, 2017 [3 years], 13523 villages have been electrified by the NDA government on an average 4507 villages/year. Now I don’t want see arguments in the comments box regarding the definition of electrification. Let me tell you, a village is considered as electrified only if 10% of its households have electricity and this is since October 1997 [Modi government did not change the definition].[11] Under UPA, 2004–2014, 108280 villages electrified [average 10828 villages/year], definition still same. [12] WINNER- UPAPetrol and diesel prices- Petrol prices and diesel prices have been high under the present government as compared to previous one. But it would not be fair to attack Modi government on petrol prices because they have strong reasons to do so. In 2013, UPA initiated going towards a low fiscal deficit path. Modi government is only continuing the same. High Fiscal deficit, higher prices. So continuing the policy will be good in the long term.[13] WINNER- UPA, prices were low at their times and they initiated this policy.Food inflation- Food inflation is much less than what it used to be under UPA [You can see tall bars close to or even more than 10%]. Present government has maintained it better.[14] WINNER - NDA.Economic growth is also back on track now. But still some people saying Modi messed up the economy etc, may be under-informed or they are doing this purposely and crying as if ,we are on the verge of bankruptcy, or there is an economic crisis across the country. Inflation of two digits and growth rates like 4.7, 5.5 % etc in some quarters prevailed under UPA. But we are able to grow now at 7% with a single digit inflation [Isn’t that much better than a two digit inflation and an average growth of 7.8% under 10 years of UPA?]Optical Fibre network- Between 2011–2014, the project did not take off as only 350km of cable was laid [planned was 3,00,000]. But the current government achieved the target in 2014–2017 of laying 3,00,000 km of cable. [15]Vision- Present government has ended the policy paralysis which came to haunt the UPA in 2014. The vision is very clear and government is concentrated much on infrastructure [Sagar Mala project - Wikipedia, Bharatmala - Wikipedia] and many other infrastructure projects]ease of doing business and liberalisation. [16] Steps were taken to curb black money, SIT formation, push on bank account opening, Demonetisation [failed step, but no adverse effect or signs of it], crackdown on shell companies[17] and now GST has been rolled out after many years of debates and discussion. None of the previous government dared to take bold steps, but I believe an effort should be admired. So, clearly putting an end to policy paralysis.External Debt-External Debt increased very less as compared to UPA [See the steep slopes of UPA].Foreign policy - Modi is the first Indian PM, to visit both Israel and Palestine and maintain good friendship with rivals, same goes with USA and Russia. Probably most delicate balances in the history of foreign policies. For the first time we are eye-to-eye with China. No Indian residing outside India, and the people over there are fools to come to attend his interaction with them.A man who struggled- I always have inclination towards those who struggle, he wasn’t born with a silver spoon. He has reached to this position by immense struggles, not by any dynastic influence. There is absolutely no need to elaborate his childhood, early life and struggles.My inclination to right wing- BJP is the only right wing party at national level. Hence being a right winger and conservative the chances of supporting any other party is forbidding.My views on allegations of corruption on Rafale deal- I believe that the deal which NDA offered is much more comprehensible, than the UPA one. In the UPA deal, 18 jets were being given ready-made and 108 to be made, now we are getting 36 jets ready-made [provided the number of squadrons are decreasing], also we are getting some extra ammunition. Greater number of ammunition and ready-made jets will help in providing the much necessary boost to our Air-Force. NDA’s deal saved around Rs. 12,600 k crores. [Under UPA cost of each jet was over 100 million, and NDA’s deal offers one jet under 90 million]. [18]Last reason- No better person to support! If you get one please tell me with some concrete reasons.There may be plenty of reasons stated by different people to not vote for BJP in 2019. But I have reasons to vote for them. If this much work is less in 4 years, tell me how much has to be done in 4 years? Probably, no government in the past was able to do this much in 4 years. Maybe, UPA-I or NDA under Atalji in the past did so. But the present government is nowhere less in performance.
