PDF Editor FAQ
What is the reality of corruption in India?
Yesterday, I posted an answer in which I expressed my disagreement over the demand of JNU student to go on strike because the JNU administration made 75% attendance compulsory for scholarships and for appearing in the semester examination. All student unions cutting across all political ideologies came together to support the strike calling such action as anti-student.[1]I was amazed to see the support to the strike by the past and present students of other colleges in the comment section. Almost 80-90% of them supported the student’s right of not attending the classes and wanted no attendance rule in colleges. They have many reasons for the no-attendance rules.Teachers are not competent and they don’t teach well.Their time is wasted in the class. They can learn much better at home.Poor attendance is due to poor teaching. If teachers are good, students will automatically attend classes. They can learn better on internet. They must have the freedom to learn from whatever source. It is also my experience that when students don’t attend the classes, they also want cheating in the examination.Similarly, when colleges fail to enforce discipline of attendance as per the rules, they also fail to stop mass cheating in examination.Whenever I had been an invigilator in any college, I have always caught quite a few cheaters and recommended for their rustication, which often makes me quite unpopular in the colleges. On the contrary, those teachers who allow cheating are very popular in colleges. Most cheaters don’t feel guilty about cheating. They too have their own reasons for cheating, if you ask them. Most teachers don’t feel guilty for allowing cheating and not teaching well, since they too have their reasons for the same. This is the level of morality, principles and respect of law among the younger generation, who condemn so much their older generation. We always find reasons to justify our actions, even if they are illegal and against the rules, when the matter pertains to us.However, when it comes to others, we don’t accept any justification.I am sure that if politicians and bureaucrats are given opportunity to justify corruption, they too can give reasons like,The salaries are very poor. There is no incentive for honesty and good work.Holding rallies requires huge expenditure in elections and common people do not donate much to party funds. Many people expect money to vote and hence they want to earn illegal money. They have to manage caste/creed leaders of communities as people vote on caste/creed lines.People don’t vote on development, but vote only when caste or communal passions are flared.People don’t elect honest leaders because they themselves expect illegal favours from them.We all have justification for our illegal and immoral actions. You can’t blame any specific institution for corruption in India or elsewhere because almost all individuals and almost all institutions are corrupt in a corrupt country. This reminds me this beautiful shayari/couplet by SHAUQ BAHRAICHI,Barbad gulistan karne ko bas ek hi ullu kaafi thahar shaaḳh pe ullu baitha hai, anjam-e-gulistan kya hoga.English Translation:One owl (fool) is enough to ruin the garden,What would be the fate of the garden, if an owl is sitting on each branch of the tree? What are common scams in India?
What a beautiful coincident it is… Just watched this videoThe NEET / JEE Topper scam!!This video is a masterpiece.. explains it quite beautifully with a pinch of laughter..“But what's wrong in promoting a coaching if he wants.. He deserves the attention because he did hardwork"True that .. And I have nothing against any topper. The thing is when you top… You are instantly a motivation and inspiration for thousands of students which just want to know how you did it.They trust you for good advice. And you decide to play with their trust by recommending them an institute or teacher or book which you haven't tried yourself! The fellow aspirants are also at fault here for blindly trusting literally anyone. The best line in this video was“Maine 25 book padhi hai but tmhe bs NCERT padhne ko kahunga"Samjhdaar ko ishara kaafi hai..Peace🕉️
Which books should I read in my 1st year of MBBS at MAMC?
The book answer! What books to buy is the most common first year query. What is important to know, is that the books you read are kind of like the wand you own- they differ widely from person to person, and also opinions on the same book vary greatly. What I'll suggest is, to read this answer and keep it only at the back of your mind while buying books. Since it's my opinion on things. If you're skeptical about a particular book, read its PDF first, or have a look at it in the library. There's nothing sadder than an untouched costly book :(Now, the asker of this question asks the particular books in MAMC, so I'll write the name of the books in the order of popularity here. There are also many undiscovered gems, which only a few people read, I'll mention the ones I know, too!The best book answer I have personally come across is this-Ahmad Ozair's answer to Which are the books recommended by Ahmad Ozair for MBBS 1st year students for studying anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry?I so wish I had read this answer at the beginning of my year. It has some great recommendations.Coming to the MAMC book culture,Anatomy.( Gross)BD Chaurasia. (BDC) 98% of your classmates would be reading this. At the beginning of the year, it felt a bit too drab to me. Information, tables, enumerations. But keeping in mind the kind of questions that come in exams, it's the most popular book for Anatomy. ( Also, towards the end of the year, I guess I realised it's not too bad!)Vishram Singh- 2–5% read it for gross. 99% for Neuroanatomy. As far as I've heard, it is easier to read and has better diagrams than BDC, but since everyone else is reading BDC, only 2–5% wise people take this road not taken.Gray's Anatomy for Students- Has excellent diagrams, and less text than BDC. It won't help you write answers for exams like BDC does, but will make your concept rock solid! ( One of my friend managed to read the topic's Gray's everyday before its lecture happened. She taught Anatomy to her whole table!)Netter's Atlas- I haven't treaded much into the world of atlases, because I found true love in Netter's. Helps to cement the vague ideas created by Anatomy texts, this is a must have both in hard copy and as a PDF!Book I wish I read as my main book- Moore's Clinical Anatomy. It's blue boxes are the reason that make me study Anatomy. Awesome diagrams, awesome clinical Anatomy… it's the book that got away!Snell's Clinical Anatomy- You'd be told to reference clinical anatomy from here and also its diagrams would be drawn on the DH board. Is a good book. Also Snell's Clinical Neuroanatomy is the recommended book for Neuroanatomy.EmbryologyLangman- The littlest book you'll own ( probably after BDC handbook of General Anatomy!) I find it a bit tough to understand, but then IQ levels matter :P It's diagrams are the reference for the Embryology models we have.IB Singh- Explains Embryology in a much easier manner. After buying it I realised that Embryology was actually fun! Strongly recommended from my side. You can have Langman as a PDF with it.HistologyDiFiore's Atlas of Histology- I pronounced its name incorrectly all through the year, I guess.:P It's considered as the standard and you are supposed to draw its diagrams in the histology file.IB Singh- Again a good book, takes up theory exceptionally well. Also, it is edited by our HOD's, so how cool it is to be taught by the same teachers who edited and revised the book!Dissection-Cunningham- It's kinda like a running gag of medical college that poor first years buy Cunningham only to never touch it. While this may be partially true, those who read it become legends. “ Pata hai, vo Cunningham padhta hai!” But it's actually a smart book, haha. It's strongly advised for reading Peritoneum.PhysiologyI have already written a nice, detailed answer on how should one approach Physiology, but I'd list out the books here too. In order of usage by kids.AK Jain- Written by our professor, Dr. AK Jain ( he's a really nice personand this book will help you write good answers in exams. Don't make it your standard book if you don't wish to, go for Guyton and Ganong and then supplement them with it. But almost everyone in our batch has it.Ganong- The standard book in Physiology. When in doubt regarding values, Ganong values are taken as gospel. Presents information in a nice, concise way. Not quick to grasp, for nice, happy grasping of concepts, check out Guyton.Guyton- My favorite first year book. :) Enough said.Understanding Medical Physiology by R.L Bijlani- Another good book that takes up Physiology concepts nicely!GK Pal- Recommended by our HOD.BiochemistrySK Gupta- Often read as the main book here since SK Gupta sir is a professor here. ( Retired last year.) I will stand in its defence- it's actually a good book that has everything you need to know. Infact if you read all of its clinical focus boxes- you'll have no problem answering some tough Biochemistry questions.Harper's Biochemistry- Nothing beats the standard book, obviously. Harper is nice, but considered a bit tough by some. I should also confess I haven't read it completely.Lippincott- I wish I had it earlier! I bought it to study Genetics (Genetics in Harper is considered a feat to read) and fell in love with the book. Greatly explains Metabolism, and integration of metabolism. Highly recommended. Sadly, it lacks some chapters and important information, that you'll need to read from other books.Vasudevan, Satyanarayan- some people read it too. I don't know much about them as I haven't read them.Stryer- “Vo baccha Stryer padhta hai!” :PImmunology ( part of Biochemistry).Something most people in our batch including me dreaded. We are recommended Dr. SK Gupta's book on Immunology ( which is separate from the main book) but it is too vast according to me, so read only selected important parts. AIIMS follows Kuby's and probably Levinson ( not sure.) Also you can try out Lipinncott Immunology! :)Also an honourable mention to this answer-Vansh Verma's answer to Medical School: What are the best books for MBBS 1st year? His list of books is awesome, and also I read this answer before professional exams so it made me sad about how ideal my first year could have been! Cheers to you bro. ^_^
