The most important exams are CSIR-UGC NET[1] and GATE[2] . While these exams primarily help to get a good PhD position, NET can also help to get assistant-professorship or lectureship at various colleges, universities or institutions. Similarly, GATE can provide you with various other technical job opportunities. There is another entrance exam for PhD, known as JEST[3] , conducted by various research institutes.
