My wife quit her job for the exact same reason. She had given her employer a year’s notice with a request for three days’ unpaid leave as we wanted to book a safari holiday that would start the three days before the official holidays began.Her employer simply said no and that she was permitted only one day unpaid leave for extraordinary circumstances. Other people have had time off. My wife had worked for this organisation for 20 years though in a different department, so she was the new girl. My wife had even arranged cover for her absence.We went ahead and booked the holiday anyway, and two weeks before the holiday, my wife asked her employer if she had had time to reconsider her request for the unpaid leave. She abruptly repeated, “No, no one else gets it!” My wife said, “That’s crap and you know it! OK fine; you will get my notice of resignation tomorrow”.So that’s what she did, she quit her job for a once-in-a-lifetime Tanzanian safari holiday with me, our two sons and her mother.I didn’t mind as she was unhappy there anyway and I earn enough for the both of us.So it’s up to you but if it’s important enough, I would quit.WE WORK TO LIVE, NOT LIVE TO WORK.
