Develop a collaborative approach with Scotland, England, Wales & Northern Ireland on state aid, regional aid and infrastructure.Recognise that the Brexit Northern Ireland protocol is going to economically partition the UK. The UK government can work with the Northern Ireland government to support Northern Ireland business in developing cross border market opportunities with the Republic of Ireland (and by extension the rest of the EU).Address the problem of regional inequality. Replace the EU’s regional aid support with a systematic, regulated and methodical approach to supporting places most in need - including Wales, Cornwall and parts of North East England. Projects can include improved broadband provision, rail electrification and the role of local enterprise partnerships.Replace divisive language and slogans with policy development and scrutiny. Subject government plans to parliamentary debate. Build a consensus with voters, politicians across the UK and business.Be honest and transparent, especially in policy formulation and decision making.

The breaking up of alliance by the TDP today seems nothing more than mere political posturing by Mr. Chandrababu Naidu and we don't expect the people of Andhra Pradesh to be fooled by that.Shiv Sena has been declaring it plans to break alliance since last many years. So we will wait and watch for now.BJP values its alliance with TDP (and also Shiv Sena) and won't like to fritter away the opportunity of serving the people of Andhra Pradesh by breaking the alliance.Before the hue and cry by some people over the issue, the average citizen of Andhra Pradesh must first understand what this special category is all about and how it has no relevance since the 14th Finance Commission?For special category status category states, the Centre pays 90 per cent of the funds required in a centrally-sponsored scheme as against 60 per cent in case of normal category states, while the remaining funds are provided by the state governments. This was the reason it was so attractive and sought-after.The criteria were as follows:The NDC granted this status based on a number of features of the States which included:hilly and difficult terrain,low population density or the presence of sizeable tribal population,strategic location along international borders, economic and infrastructural backwardness and non-viable nature of State finances.It is clear what this status was intended for and also clear that Andhra Pradesh does not fit in any of the category.Following the constitution of the NITI Aayog (after the dissolution of the Planning Commission) and the recommendations of the Fourteenth Finance Commission (FFC), Central plan assistance to SCS States has been subsumed in an increased devolution of the divisible pool to all States (from 32% in the 13th FC recommendations to 42%) and do not any longer appear in plan expenditure.In layman's terms, the State Governments across India receive a full 31.25% (from 32% to 42%) extra funds now drastically reducing the relevance of "Special category status".Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had said the Centre was happy to give Andhra Pradesh funds equivalent to what a special category state receives, but said giving it "special category status" as demanded by Mr Naidu was not possible as the 14th Finance Commission had scrapped the scheme for all but north-eastern and three hill states.On the back of such firm economic committments from the Finance Minister himself, I am tempted to conclude that this is mere political posturing by a TDP threatened by the increasing popularity of BJP in all states including Andhra Pradesh.Andhra Pradesh is “Special” in the sense that it will receive funds equivalent to special category status.People of Andhra Pradesh should closely follow these political developments and make up their mind accordingly.There is no way that BJP will allow Andhra Pradesh to land in soup yet again the way Congress handled and mismanaged the Andhra issue and subsequent bifurcation.

It is not very different from any Commander of the Indian Army though at larger scale. I will mention only the Professional Routine and not Personal Routine since it may vary from person to person. The morning starts with Brief Morning SITREP (Operational Situation Report) at about 6–6.30 AM. It is followed by Morning News Summary/Digest.The Office Routine starts at about 9–9.30 AM with Operational Briefings in the Office of Director General Military Operations followed by Routine in the Office of the COAS to include Morning Prayers (Routine Briefings), First Sight Dak (Correspondence of Urgent Disposal), Scheduled meetings/briefings on various aspects of the Service such as Infrastructure Development, Organisational Development, Human Resource Development and for the day with Superiors in Ministry of Defence, Peers in Sister Services such as Air Force, Navy and Tri Service Commands or Subordinates in the Service HQs.Most of the time is also spent on scheduled visits to the Subordinate Field Formations such as HQs Command, Corps, Division, Brigade and Static Formations such as HQ Area etc. to attend to the local matters concerning approval of the Army HQ or the MoD.The rest of the time is spent in ceremonial duties to receive dignitaries of foreign countries, memorial services of fallen comrades and reviewing ceremonial parades/events.Some time is also devoted to foreign visits planned by the MoD/MEA to foreign countries to improve ties.The day ends with same routine of Brief Evening SITREP at about 6–6.30 PM. It is followed by Evening News Summary/Digest. The files not attended to at the Office and Important meetings/briefings missed due to lack of time are attended to at Official Residence before retiring for the day. Phone calls (duly vetted as per importance and urgency of the caller) have also to be attended to through out the day and well into the night.The evenings are also interspersed with social obligations to attend to ceremonial functions held in honour of foreign dignitaries and internal guests as per protocol.Most of the nights are short and days long. A Chief seldom sleeps at peace.
