I am under the impression that, (cue the scientists, doctors, researchers, avid followers- for corrections) I should provide enough of a glimpse that is along the lines of the truth. The sars-cov, is a Coronavirus as is sars-cov-2, maybe there is a chance that you are less likely to contract this novel Coronavirus, due to them being somewhat similar in nature, and if you were unfortunate and had SARS when that was going around, your immune system may remember how to fight off SARS-CoV, making it easier to fight or less lethal SARS-CoV2, but this novel Coronavirus is exactly that… novel = new, we haven’t seen this before, so it basically hasn’t ever existed, they don’t have research on this, or treatments, except for the last few months worth. They are rushing human trials for vaccines and medications. Viruses mutate, rendering the initial chosen treatment or plan of action, ineffective. This would be the same if you had any remaining antibodies or memory of the initial SARS infection, you can look at it as if it has mutated, which makes you once again, vulnerable for infection. I wouldn’t even say that a vaccine would be safe or reliable (no, I am not antivax, herd immunity should be praised for what is has achieved and we cannot let those who believe the earth is flat, ruin what we have worked hard to push away, like polio, measles). However, in deciding whether or not to get the future vaccine or not, it is your loved ones, and our most vulnerable (elderly, babies, immune compromised, those with respiratory diseases like Cystic Fibrosis) that you are trying to protect, as well as yourself! If everyone who is able to get the vaccine (immune system agreeing, our youngest and oldest may not be acceptable candidates for the vaccine), you will be protecting those who are unable to get their own vaccination for the virus, due to further limiting the viruses ability to replicate, thus hopefully eradicating this virus.
