How would the life be after graduating from IIFT Delhi?

What you are struggling for right now (at IIFT), will change. But the struggle will still be there. You are giving your best academically/ holistically to pass out with the best of placements. You are sometimes studying even though there is no quiz/ exam, because you have to secure placement in that particular domain. Every one around you is your competitor. But still you have alteast few shoulders to cry on, during your lows. Life is busy but still you manage to balance and take time out for an outing. There are good days, bad days and worse days. But still, you’re proud that you’ve come so far, studying at a top B-school.Your life will definitely change, especially for freshers. You would realize how many things you took for granted. So many friends under one roof, luxury of 20% attendance waiver so that you can catch on some extra sleep instead of going for 9 a.m. lecture, taking quick naps in class, being ignored by profs (sometimes) while using phone or laughing while cross talking, coming to class in loungewear, having well functioning hostel mess, chatting in class group and making fun of boring prof while he continues teaching, discussing “break maang lo yaar koi” (somebody please ask for a break), hostel life etc.But there will be a good part too and this (for me) outweighs missing so many little things about life at IIFT. It is one of the most important reasons why we join/ work hard for those two years ~ placements. The nagging fear, which gives you jitters everytime you hear x got ppo’ed, y company will not be coming this year for finals, z company’s shortlist is out but your name is not there. This time teaches you a lot. It makes you stronger. But once it’s over, you’d never wish that it comes back again. You will definitely have challenges at your new job and adulting failures too if it’s your first one. But you’ll learn and grow. Things will go at their own pace. You won’t become star by completing one project as you used to become in college the moment trimester exam results were out. You, at times, might think that you are the dumbest person in your team but that would be so because you are new and staright out of campus. You will have performance pressure but you will be able to fight it out because IIFT has shown you bad days too. You will definitely stumble upon atleast one person who will inspire you. You might find friends in your colleagues. All I am saying is, life will be different. Not better or worse. Just different.

Should I quit IIT because of bullying and lack of friends? I don't have a true friend here, everyone bullies me. I feel like quitting my studies and going back to my hometown.

They came here with a life. And you came here to make a life. Don't give up. Let the pains come, in future you're gonna laugh more than anyone now laughing. The world is based on shallow show offs and glamour. None is going to walk in your shoes or wipe your silent tears. Given that you got into IIT -Bombay, I assume you are academically sound and hard worker in nature. But you have to be mentally robust, fall in love with loneliness and fight your way out if you want to conquer the world outside your village. For the financial part of your problem, you can apply for MCM scholarship (which is there in IITB), ask your professors for TA post, apply for partial fee waiver etc. You can consider a bank loan as well. Although a lot of things depends upon your family property etc., still it's possible to get one.For the loneliness and emotional difficulty, let me tell you the definition of friends now a days (I'm not generalizing, just trying to give my understandings). Friends are the ones who will party with you, will give you company to your hiranandani/marine drive outings, will appreciate your new iPad, will treat you in restaurants and will expect treat in return. So it's likely that you will have difficulty finding friends. Don't let that worry you and still try to be nice with people. The things will not be same always, you are still in first year, trust me the best part of Engineering starts from 2nd year. 1st year is just a boring and nervous year. Do one thing, you just come back here after 3 years and read your question, I bet you may laugh yourself.I assume this is the first time your are being exposed to a bigger world outside your village. Moving out of your little comfort zone requires some struggle, even if I disregard the monetary aspect. But still, be proud of yourself as an IITian, more so because you cracked the toughest entrance exam of the country from such a background.Okay, assume that you really quit your studies and went back to your village. Now, how you going to deal with your parent's hope? or at least will you able to compromise your inner soul? Try to realize the fact that world doesn't throw a peaceful life at a person because the person wants it or works so hard they feel they deserve it. Start fighting with the world. A lot of people will give you a lot of advice, and most of it will be bad, and a lot of it will be good and sound but you'll have to figure out yourself.Have courage. Don't quit.
