I am a graduate student in Global Logistics and Supply Chain Management at the Kühne Logistics University in Hamburg, Germany. I have successfully completed the MIT micromasters edX course - ‘Fundamentals in Supply Chain Management' scoring a total of 84%. The following are some of the facts I would like to mention regarding the course:The course will have a high number of participants from across the globe my batch had around 37000 people.Though the concepts taught are highly complex at times, It is explained in simple terms and can be understood easilyGraded Exercises and tests are tough, especially the ones involving quantitative analysis through complex spreadsheet modelsYou might spend hours going through Q&A threads trying to clarify a small doubt before you submit an answer on a test, or even while trying to clarify a small conceptDirect Questions to the teachers are seldom answered due to the huge number of participantsYou need a lot of determination to score well or to even pass the course, half hearted attempts might probably lead to a failure.If you pass, and I really hope you do - the course certificate tremendously boosts your profile or resumé.After the completion of my course I applied to several internship positions in Germany, I was called for interviews with 7 multinational firms in the SCM and logistics sector; and 6 of them asked me specific questions regarding this course and in the end, I was offered a position in 5 of those firms. I can confidently say the course has played an important role with regards to where I am today.Good luck!

I do not have an answer for you. I do not have the models or the knowledge to predict the effects of a lockdown.What I do know is that the timing of this lockdown is simply the single most ridiculous hesitation to date!!!We just had the schools on half term break, and we waited to have a lockdown when the half term ends. It is beyond stupidity. I think by now it is criminal recklessness. A lockdown without any leaks for at least 2 weeks would definitely have more effect than the same lockdown with all the education institutions back. This means that even if we then continued with a lockdown while schools open, the total time we would need to lock down, or the effect of the same length of a lockdown, would be significantly shorter and more effective. I do not require any models to assert that. I don't like to use anecdotal evidence but I will break with tradition and show you this (from my COVID Symptom Study - Help slow the spread of COVID-19: which if you do not have and contribute to, please do!)My area pre half termMy area today (almost at the end of half term break)I am absolutely in favour of schools being open, as long as it is sustainable and as long as the gains can be replicated, even if with some pain (though of course there is a limit). But this was not the case here. All we had to do, is use this time wisely. In fact I couldn't understand why didn't we lock down earlier and move the half term, why did we have to work around the school timetable and not just change it. But, not to use the half term period, only to implement a lock down at the end of it when the lockdown effectiveness in preventing integration is haemorrhaging from one of its biggest arteries?Why on earth did Boris do that? I cannot answer this question. I am out of ideas. There is simply no excuse for this. This is not economy v saving lives. This is clearly having to have a longer period of restriction and less effect. It is as if they didn't want to control or reduce infection in the most effective way, but let the virus spread and inflict economical pain. I genuinely cannot get my head around it. Was it all in order not to do what Labour asked, when they asked? is that it? Any suggestions will be appreciated, because this time, there is no claim for hindsight, or wisdom and ability, nor competence involved. The government actually mentioned a lockdown during half term prior to half term. They even mentioned all the advantages of such an idea. To then fail to implement it during half term, only to implement it when half term ends, just beggar belief.Again, some people will lose their lives, others will lose their livelihoods, and we have no idea what for and why. I simply cannot explain this decision.If this doesn't make Boris supporters realise he is simply out of his depth and unsuitable for his office, What will? What will it take for them to see how dangerous costly and destructive his premiership is, and will be?(No cartoon on this one… I am just too angry and saddened).

Forty, approximately, at least in England and Wales; Scotland does its own thing. Children start in early September and the autumn term has a one-week break in late October, then two weeks at Christmas. There is a similar pattern in the spring term, with a week of half term break in February, and two weeks at Easter. Then the summer half-term break of a week at the end of May, which leaves about five weeks for the summer holiday, starting in late July.Twelve weeks of holiday for kids, slightly less for staff, who often have to start back early, especially in late August. And of course most staff spend so much theoretical holiday time either being ill (they didn't have time during the term, and so saved it up for the holidays) or doing loads of marking and lesson planning, that in practice the actual holiday time is a lot less than that!
