Not much that isn't already publicly available. I won't be teaching them until September. But here's some information NASA has provided.Classes are selected on need, about every 3-4 years. Cassada is a naval aviator who holds an undergraduate degree from Albion College, and advanced degrees from the University of Rochester, N.Y. Cassada is a physicist by training and previously served as co-founder and Chief Technology Officer for Quantum Opus.Jessica MeirPh.D., 35 is from Caribou, Maine. She is a graduate of Brown University, has an advanced degree from the International Space University, and earned her doctorate from Scripps Institution of Oceanography. Meir currently is an Assistant Professor of Anesthesia at Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston.Nicole Mann35, Major, U.S. Marine Corps, originally is from Penngrove, Calif. She is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Stanford (Calif.) University and the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School, Patuxent River, Md. Mann is an F/A 18 pilot, currently serving as an Integrated Product Team Lead at the U.S. Naval Air Station, Patuxent River.Christina Hammock34, calls Jacksonville, N.C. home. Hammock holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from North Carolina State University, Raleigh, N.C. She currently is serving as National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Station Chief in American Samoa.Tyler Nick Hague37, Lt. Colonel, U.S. Air Force, calls Hoxie, Kan., home. He is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School, Edwards, Calif. Hague currently is supporting the Department of Defense as Deputy Chief of the Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization.Victor Glover37, Lt. Commander, U.S. Navy, hails from Pomona, Calif., and Prosper, Texas. He is an F/A-18 pilot and graduate of the U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School. Glover holds degrees from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, Calif.; Air University and Naval Postgraduate School. He currently is serving as a Navy Legislative Fellow in the U.S. Congress.Ann McClain34, Major, U.S. Army, lists her hometown as Spokane, Wash. She is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y.; the University of Bath and the University of Bristol, both in the United Kingdom. McClain is an OH-58 helicopter pilot, and a recent graduate of U.S. Naval Test Pilot School at Naval Air Station, Patuxent River.Andrew Morgan37, Major, U.S. Army, considers New Castle, Pa., home. Morgan is a graduate of The U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and earned doctorate in medicine from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, Bethesda, Md. He has experience as an emergency physician and flight surgeon for the Army special operations community, and currently is completing a sports medicine fellowship.

As far as what damages a patient can recover, this is certainly possible (at least in some states) and there have been some civil suits by patients for consequential damages. I am not very familiar with those outcomes so will leave that subject to the lawyers in our midst. In general organizations such as the one I work for have primarily focused on dealing with federal and state audits and requirements. Those are plenty to worry about.The federal rules have been addressed by others here already. Over and above the dire Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requirements and penalties, California (state) has its own, even more dire, requirements for notification and penalties, which were enacted in 2008 (AB 211 Assembly Bill and SB 541 Senate Bill). Part of the impetus for the passage of these laws was a PHI breach involving then-Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's wife."The [California] state Department of Health, after investigation, may assess an administrative penalty for a violation of this section of up to $25,000 per patient whose medical information was accessed, used, or disclosed unlawfully or without authorization, and up to $17,500 per subsequent occurrence of unlawful or unauthorized access, use, or disclosure of that patient’s medical information."Many other states have enacted similar regulations of their own. Between the HIPAA and state laws, both the organization and the employees who were at fault may be liable for either civil or criminal penalties. Penalties are more severe when the PHI was used for financial gain and may include jail time.Many PHI breaches have involved lost laptops or other media database extracts or Excel spreadsheets (etc.) and involve hundreds or thousands of patients, so you can see that the potential penalties are enormous.For example, the US DHHS Office of Civil Rights, which investigates HIPAA violations, has in recent years fined Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Tennessee $1.5M, Cignet Health $4.3M, Massachusetts General Hospital $1M, and the UCLA Health System $856K.For more information on both HIPAA and California reporting requirements and penalties for inappropriate disclosure of PHI, see:http://www.chcf.org/~/media/MEDIA%2520LIBRARY%2520Files/PDF/P/PDF%2520PrivacySecurityGuide.pdf

Partners Healthcare, which is the umbrella organization for Mass General, Brigham, and a few other large hospitals. Plus it operates Allways Health, an insurance provider. It also has its administrative offices at Assembly Square, a 12 or so story building.
