Here is my 21 tips that will for sure be useful to any new associates starting work at Walmart :1. Don't get 5 points or more in attendance if you have not worked 6 months at Walmart because you are at a high risk of termination/fired if you get that many points for calling off to much2. if you work on overnights be prepared that you will have to sleep during the day3. Don't steal from your Walmart because Walmart will fire you on the spot and at my store that has happened to workers4. If you are an overnight maintenance associate you will be expected to pick up empty pallets and collect shopping carts at least at my store you have to do that5. Know that you will be asked by customers where things are at your Walmart store and if you don't know how to help the customer find another associate or manger nearby6. Always do your best to smile when you see a customer because your smile could brighten that customers day7. Follow the customer is always right rule even if they are wrong at times because your customers are a boss like the great Sam Walton once quoted "There is only one boss. The customer. And he can fire everybody in the company from the chairman on down, simply by spending his money somewhere else."8. Know that you have the right to defend yourself at Walmart if a angry customer or active shooter decides to attack you and hopefully you never have to experience that9. Ignore all the negative things older associates say about working at Walmart because if you don't you will hate your job as much as them10.Always remember that you will at times be required to do CBL's while you are working so always check to make sure you don't have any CBL's and CBL's stand for Computer Based Learning11. if you suspect a customer is shoplifting tell a manager12. (this tip does now apply to me since I am now full time) If you work full time remember to not work past 40 hours during the work week since Walmart does not pay overtime and if you do work overtime ask your manager if it okay to work Overtime because if you don't you will have to take a longer lunch or clock in late.13. Do not work off the clock since that is illegal even if a manager asks or tell you to do that14. Remember to always wear your Walmart vest and ID badge although on overnights the managers at my store seem to be not be so strict about enforcing the Walmart vest dress code15. If a customer or vendor wants to give you money for helping them out don't accept it since Walmart is against customers and vendors giving cash gifts to its Associates16. If you have to miss work for whatever reason call your Walmart store you work at to let your managers know because if you don't that is a no call no show which is 4 points and if you do it once you will probably be fired since you will be at 4 points17. wear shoes that are comfortable especially if you going to be a maintenance like me since you will do a lot of walking inside the store18. clean up your spills and don't always depend on maintenance to clean them up for you because Walmart has clean up stations around the store incase of in store accidents19. If you are behind on your work as a stocker ask a manager for more help since it is a managers job to make sure the job is done and remember if the job doesn't get done don't worry about because sometimes work will not always be done20. If you work Overnight shift know that you can pick your days off unless you work the daytime or evenings which won't allow you to pick your days off and if you work day or evenings you might be expected to work either the daytime or evening shift21. If you hear gossip about other associates job just ignore it because it is mostly not true since there is a lot of things that are said inside Walmart from associates that are not facts . And please don't share untruth to the associate you heard was being talked about since you might him or her mad depending on what was said

The majority of CBLs you will take will have to do with workplace safety. If you get hurt, or hurt someone else, because you violated a safety policy, you will be disciplined and could be terminated. Walmart has been sued more times than you can imagine. A lot of these policies and CBLs are a direct result of litigation and/or OSHA. Walmart takes them very seriously.You will take CBLs the entire time you work for Walmart. Associates are required to take most of the CBLs annually for as long as you work for the company. Remember, even your Store Manager has to take them…only a whole lot more.
