I recently (23rd may) travelled from Dubai to India during Lockdown through repatriation flight. This was the most scariest travel I ever had.9th march was my last working day in dubai after the working visa cancellation I was supposed to travel back to home country India. On March 23rd my visa got cancelled and on March 24th India ordered a nationwide lockdown for 21days ,limiting all moment of the entire country specially the travel.weeks and weeks passed ,lockdown was unending .After 73days of wait and isolationon 21st may- I got call from Indian embassy to inform me that I was in confirmed list of repatriation flight from Dubai to Bangalore scheduled on 23rd of May,on 22nd may -Air India called me for my ticket and sent me a with a link from arabian travel agency for the ticket payment of 850aed. I was in dilemma before proceeding for payment on the authenticity of the link, but i had to take the chance.I received payment received immediately after the payment and in an hour received my ticket with three declaration forms.Self declaration-letter to confirm that I do not have any symptoms of corona.Indemnity -I undertake to bear the entire cost of deportation and quarantineIndemnity bond-consent form for evacuationOn 23rd may-I carried my ticket along with forms filled. At airport instant covid-19 test done, after test only you are allowed to move towards check-in counter.There was no physical checking.I completed my immigration, was waiting for flight to board. People around the airport were in best protective clothes, mask is now unavoidable part of airport lookFinally at 4pm ( Dubai time)I boarded the flight, refreshment was already kept in front seat pocket.A box of water bottle was kept in the last seat of the last row.Air hostess was not allowed to serve any services. All the seats were packed,no social distancing was maintained during the travel.Only 9 seats in last 3rows were kept empty, I didn’t understand the purpose of it though.At around 10pm(India time) after o3hour and 40min of travel we landed in Bangalore. Almost after 2hours we were been called off the aircraft in rows maintaining social distancing. On 1st counter a lady staff checked my pulse , on counter 2 declaration form were been collected the staff asked me my hotel preferences post which she stamped my left hand with travel date.After the immigration my cabin luggage is been disinfected. There was a long que for hotel selection , and options were5*- single occupancy 4100/nightDouble occupancy 5900/night3*-single occupancy 1850/nightDouble occupancy 2450/nightBudget hotels-1200/nightAll the rates were inclusive of taxes and 3times meal.3* was in my budget, so I chose Ibis-outer ring road.Post the hotel selection BMTC non ac bus was arranged to drop up till the selected hotel, we had to collect ticket worth of 300rs to board the bus, again the ticket counter was full of chaos, people were least bothered of social distancing.After 3 hours of bus journey, we arrive at hotel at around 5 o’clock in the 24th morning , but still I had to pay for the hotel stay of 23rd may because as per my ticket I reached in India on 23rd so my quarantine period will start from same day.I paid for 7days in advance(23rd to 29th may)I was locked in a room without any balcony, completely packed. There was small window fo glass through which I could see Bangalore.There was a chair outside of my door, hotel staff was instructed to keep the food, water bottle or any other necessities on the chair, human contact was strictly not allowed.Next day on 25th may I had a medical test, through my nostrils and through my throat swabs collected.On 30th of morning, after the completion of compulsory 7days of institutional quarantine I was allowed to go for home quarantine with a quarantine stamp again with dates.My test results are negative. So it was safe.Now I am at home writing this, I will complete my home quarantine on 6th of June.

It has been a year and very tough to remember everything in detail. I have written whatever I could recall. I have also included a few questions asked to other candidates.There were 2 interview panels with 3–5 members in each of them. Candidates were allotted randomly to those panels. The mode of the interview can be either in English or Hindi. I had a mixed one though. My interview lasted for 25-30 minutes. And the panel was the most friendly interview panel I have ever seen.Q : Tell us something about yourself in brief.A : (Basic details). I have completed my B.Tech CSE in 2017. And after that, I was preparing for government services and GATE.-Q : What is the full form of your college and where is it? (They had the basic application form details)A : VSSUT - Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology, Burla, Odisha. It is one the top most state govt Engg college in Odisha and also one of the oldest in Eastern India, established in 1956.-Q : Okay, so what about the college placement?A : I was placed in a startup but I did not join.-Q : They asked the entire details about the startup, the name, job location, job profile, why I did not join the startup, and why trying for government services.A : Answered everything honestly as per my personal perspective.-Q : So you have no industry experience in programming and development?A : No work experience as of now. But I do competitive coding in online platforms and did few minor-major projects in B.Tech.-Q : Which languages do you know?A : C and C++ and core Java but more confident in C++.-Q : Which step in programming do you feel very strong at?A : I had to give it a thought as I had never analyzed myself like this. I answered that though I feel I have a decent hold on algorithm design, coding, and code optimization but my strongest area would be quick debugging.-Q : What are the tools you have used and what kind of approach you usually choose to debug?A : I said that I have not tried any third party debugger and usually use the inbuilt IDE debuggers such as Eclipse’s debugger and also manual step by step debugging. I have never worked on bigger projects so I never felt like using anything else. Regarding the approach, I explained that after finding the problem I usually apply brute force methods because college-level programs and projects are too small and brute force has always worked. (I was not aware of any other method theoretically)-Q : How did you know you are a good debugger?A : My friends used to think so and they often ask for my help to fix their codes. ( I smiled a little and they did the same )-Q : What have you done in your B.Tech Project?A : I have done a news article classification application using Machine learning. The basic functioning was that if given a news article as input, it will classify whether it is National, International, Sports, Entertainment or Science and Technology news. I had kept only 5 categories that could be further extended. I explained the entire workflow of the project and I informed that the project was done by me and my friend together.-Q : Which language was used to code?A : Java-Q : Which classifier did you use?A : Naive Bayes-Q : Can you code the logic and explain now?A : I explained the working of Naive Bayes with a pseudo code. Then they asked me to take an example. I took a small example and explained it in detail. They asked multiple doubts in between and seemed to be satisfied with my explanation.-Q : You must have required a huge data set. How did you manage that?A : I used Hadoop MapReduce framework to handle the large scale of data.-Q : Can you explain about HDFS file system?A : Explained just the basics of HDFS.-Q : Can you explain MapReduce Algorithm?A : Explained the multiple stages of MapReduce Algo by taking an example and then explained about the time complexity of Word Count (used in my project) and compared it to the traditional approach.-Q : What are you doing currently?A : M.Tech.-Q : Why did you join M.Tech ?A : I had already taken a year gap after B.Tech. The results of many other exams were not yet declared. With no job in hand and with uncertainty in this huge competitive world, I had to join M.Tech to get a good exposure instead of sitting idle at home. I will have at least a degree and an enhanced skill set after my M.Tech.-They smiled and informed me that the interview is over now.When the results came, I got to know my Interview marks: 14/15 and Final Rank 16/81The other panel was asking more questions from core computer science subjects, I got to know this from the other candidates.I had answered the questions asked by the interviewers with full honesty and there was no place where I had bluffed or lied. I used to switch between Hindi and English whenever required. I was able to explain to the best of my capability because I had my basics cleared regarding the project. Learning from previous interview experiences was of much help.They were happy with my answers and maybe that’s why they did not ask much from the core CSE subjects. Few simple definitions were asked which I don't remember now, for example, simple questions like What are time and space complexity and comparison of arrays and linked list kind of questions. Any CS/IT student can answer those definition based questions easily.I have written a few more interview experiences as described by the selected candidates. Not going into many details and only mentioned about few of the technical questions. The exact questions could be easy to difficult ones and mostly asked just like my interview.I have removed the questions such as name, college, native place, reason academic gap year (if exist), area of interest, and subject names ( asked to few). Think of it as an interview summary. In a conclusion, the interviews are very dynamic and depend upon the panel as well as the candidates.The best way to prepare is to have a sound understanding of the basics of CS subjects, knowing your B.Tech project inside out, and also about the work experience (if you have any).Lastly, I would say that I have learned from multiple sources.
