Yep.There are different ways a student can be “disadvantaged.” In my case, since I’ve always worked at private schools, I don’t encounter many economically-disadvantaged students. There are some, because the schools do have needs-based scholarships, but the most common disadvantage for my students I deal with is neglectful parenting. That is, the students would frequently come to school with no supplies, no lunches, inadequate clothing for the winter, etc…, but it wasn’t because the parents couldn’t afford it. It was because the parents just weren’t paying attention to their children.I’ve bought lunches for kids who didn’t have a lunch that day, but they paid me back the next day. I’ve bought train tickets for field trips for students who showed up at the train station without a ticket or cash of their own, even though it’s only a few dollars and I know their parents can afford it. The parents just weren’t paying attention to the directions, or to their children’s lives in general.And I keep basic school supplies available in my classroom to all students, because so many students kept asking for them. I just take $20–30 to the dollar store at the beginning of the school year and get a lot of paper, pens, and pencils, and leave them out for whoever needs them.The same students who come to school unprepared on a regular basis are also usually the ones who don’t get their homework done very often, whose parents rarely respond to emails, whose signed parents forms are the last ones to be returned, etc… They also tend to have more discipline problems because they “act out” a lot.The acting out is a form of attention getting. That's why while chanting the Vishnu Sahasranama, we say Sri Vedavyaso Bhagwan Rishihi.Bhagwan Vedavyasa has always lived in one place, that is Badri or Badrikashrama on the banks of Ganga in modern Uttarakhand. That's why he's also called as Badarayana or Badri Narayana. Then you may ask me why people who go to Badri don't see him. That's because he doesn't live near the temple. He lives beyond that. If you watch Game of Thrones, then think of Badri as the wall and where Vedavyasa lives is beyond the wall, which is extremely dangerous for ordinary mortals like us to even set our foot there.The Brahmasutras are core to Sanatana Dharma and only the greatest of the great persons can understand it. In fact only three commentaries/bhashyas are famous even to this date. And they have been written by extraordinary individuals, namely Adi Shankaracharya, Ramanujacharya, and Madhwacharya, who were all responsible for restoring the lost glory of Sanatana Dharma.These acharyas had visited Badri in their lifetimes and met Vedavyasa and that's why their Bhashyas are the most famous because they were taught by Vedavyasa himself! Madhwacharya was the most recent one among the three and even his time was from 1238-1317. So approximately 700 years have passed when someone met Vedavyasa and it was in Badri itself as the Sumadhwavijaya i.e. the biography of Madhwacharya states.So the question is now where he is now? Hard to answer with precision but I think that he is still in Badri itself, away from civilization and away from the temple. This is as far as the physical form of Vedavyasa is concerned. In his spiritual form, he is present in the Vedas that we chant. He is present in the Bhagwad Gita that we recite, he is present in the Bhagwata, he is present in the Mahabharata. So every time you read Mahabharata, you are meeting him. In his parent form, that is in the form of the Lord, he is present everywhere in the universe as he himself has said in the Bhagwad Gita :)
