We had met in Mathematics optional class and as luck would have we got the same date, session as well as board.I was having fever and common cold. But i had to be at my best.While waiting i took paracetamol which made me sweat even in relatively wintery day. After Ashish it was my turn. I was called at 3:30 pm to wait outside the board room. I was gulping water while waiting outside. May be i waited for 15 minutes and I was called in.Brief regarding my background:- Aman Akash, bikramganj(Rohtas), Bihar,Sainik school Bhubaneswar, Hansraj college(mathematics hons), mathematics optional, Ex-NDA 129 course, SBI PO, lucid dreaming hobby, NCC A certificate, football goalkeeper,Age: 23.Me- May i come in sir?Ch- yes.There were 5 members , Chairman sitting in middle like head of family; 2 members each on left and right side of table. 4 male members and one lady member.Me-good afternoon Sir, Maam and Sirs.Ch- good afternoon.. have a seat ..Me-thank you sir..(settled down)Chairman went through my DAF reading points like Bihar,sainik school,hansraj , delhi..Ch- Aman, where are you now staying ?Me- sir in January i joined State Bank of India as probationary officer. I have attended 21 days institutional training at Jabalpur and right now i am undergoing branch training at Seoni(Madhya Pradesh)...{had to give minute details as i wanted them not to ask anything from Mahya Pradesh as well as SBI in depth}Ch- you have got a very interesting hobby, lucid dreaming...what is it?Me-(haha my greatest strength)sir, it is a dream which we see while sleeping but dreamer here is aware that he is dreaming therefore he controls his dream.{sir made the gesture to elaborate}Sir, this real world is nothing but a model made by our brain by taking inputs from external stimulus. Dream too is a model made by our very brain..now this reality and dreams are models made by same brain. We need to differentiate it. I use my digital watch to differentiate these two but it was taken away during security check. But never mind, they have given me something (I took out the token given by security personnel from my pocket on which it was written “UPSC 43”. As a magician I showed them 43 and covered the token with palm.) I know this is reality because 43 is again 43( i showed the token again) but in dream this number will be different as pre-frontal cortex, part of brain which control reasoning and logic ; relaxes, so number will not make sense. At times token may have picture in dream. Thus I will come to know that this is a dream model and as dream model is based on internal stimulus, I can control it.(wow everybody listened to me so enthusiastically and were awed by how I used the token)Ch- how do you use it in awaken world?Me- Sir, I will reveal very personal thing. Today is a maiden death anniversary of my papa. Last year i lost him to heart attack on 6 march at 11:30 pm. Now my wake-up memory with him has come to cease, I can not increase that but through lucid dreaming I still enjoy son-father moment.Ch-(he could not make eye contact to me, may be he respected my emotion but I was totally fine. I was not throwing my pain to gain sympathy there) Aman, you come from Bihar. Land is given so much importance there. What is the NDA result from your school?Me:- sir in 1960 , the then defence minister V k Krishna Menon wanted to reduce the class and regional disparity in armed forces. With this aim, sainik schools were established. My school is performing below average sending 5 out 30 students to NDA whereas there is Sainik school gorakhal(UK..uttarakhand) which sends around 45 out of 60.M1:thank you Aman and passed the baton to member 2M2:- what is Rohingya issue ? what so much of backlash from Myanmar?Me:- sir, Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army ; having linkages to terrorist outfits in Pakistan conducted organised attack on army and police bases in Myanmar. In response to it , govt.there came with operation clearance to crush it leading to mass exodus of people in-filtering India and Bangladesh.M2:should we give them shelters in our country on humanitarian grounds.Me:- (here comes the military in me) sir , the safety, honour and welfare of my country comes first always and every time. Their influx is causing ethnic disturbances in North East India and creating pressure on our limited resources. So they should be repatriated back to Myanmar (took the stand of the govt. ) Also we must understand that Myanmar is an infant democracy so it has its limitation. That is why we supported them when everyone voted against them in UN. Let us give the Myanmar govt some times and once they get stronger, they will accommodate rohingayas as democratic govt tends to be inclusive.M2:- are you aware of nuclear doctrine? Tell me the salient points?Me:- ( laxmikant me padha toh tha) sir i may not clearly remember .( he said .. i know you have knowledge , just point them out); 1. No first use 2.non use of nuclear weapon against non-nuclear country 3. However, if a country attacks us or our bases in foreign land with chemical and biological weapons , we can retaliate with our nuclear weapon. Also we can use it against non-nuclear countries in certain circumstances.M2:- are you sure that we can use it against non-nuclear countries.?have you read it somewhere?Me:- i have read it.( stern eye contact)M2: what do you think about India-Pakistan situation ?Me:-( itna wide open question); sir, peace with Pakistan is illusive. Their very existence is based on anti-India stand. Therefore, our efforts should be to keep the conflict with in management level. Also as i have read in NCERT that govt of Pakistan is like cycle with two wheels representing army and democratic wing. When they fail to come to consensus with each other , its difficult that they will be able to appreciate the good relation with India.( its not a pessimist view rather an honest analysis of the scenario)M2:- have sainik schools been able to achieve the aim of reducing class and regional disparity?Me:- yes sir, i do not come from military background but due to sainik school i was able to join National Defence Academy. That’s the different thing that i got injured in training suffering paralysis in right hand and chest where doctors were like, “ Aman, be ready for extreme . you may never recover or recover in 5 years or 3 years.” In such uncertainty i resigned the academy and came out. I took private treatment at Gangaram hospital and surprised everyone. I recovered in 7 months.M1:- he intervened and asked ..which service you were selected for ?Me:- sir i qualified for Air Force . As i could not clear Pilot Aptitude Battery Test so i was given Indian Army.Baton passed to member 3.Member 3:- Aman , you did maths hons and took optional as mathematics. How many years Myanmar was in military rule?Me:- (bhai ye kya puch diya?) sir, Myanmar got its independence in 1948 and democracy was established in around 2014 so, its 2014-1948= 66 years.( maths bro)M3:- (looked happy and pleasantly surprised ) thats quite a long time .. how come a country lived under dictatorship for so long in modern era?Me:- for reforms, two things are necessary 1. These women had to fight for 30 years to get some favourable verdict from court. If we bring milder legislation once again, i am afraid these women will have no more power left in them to fight for their cause. How do you see public sector banks?Me:- mam, public sector banks are service oriented. We are the vehicle through which govt implements welfare programmes like jeevan jyoti bima, suraksha bima , jan dhan yojana. If we are compared to private banks which are profit oriented, we are doing much better as we opened 19 crores account under jan dhan yojana together, private banks opened merely 66 lakhs.Lady member: why is this NPA problem with banks?Me:- at higher level i can quote the finding of economic survey. In 2000s we went for indiscriminate lending seeing the growth prospect . but it got derailed due to land acquisition , social impact assessment, red tapism. Thus , companies failed to earn return and failing to pay back to their banks. Therefore, its a economic hazard rather moral hazard. At retail level, i have personal experience. We under pressure of cross selling sell those products which are not demanded by customers like during loan, we force them to buy insurance schemes. Here they feel cheated and go for wilful default.lady member:- you are probationary officer. Tell me steps you will take to improve the condition of your female colleague.Me:-( i hit the jackpot here) mam, despite the office getting closed at 5 we have work culture to stay up to 8 pm. It creates trouble for my female colleagues. Therefore, i will make sure that they are allowed to leave the office on official closure time and ensure that they reach their homes safely.( hearing it mam became so happy that she literally giggled and told that YOU WILL BE GOOD ADMINISTRATOR).Lady member:- what will you do for your female customers?Me:- mam, i have seen them being hesitant to stand in line with male customers. Have you been to konark temple.( i said that once we went there for school picnic). Good ..tell me something about it.Me:- temple is in shape of rath(chariot), with wheels and when sunlight falls on it, it represents time of the day. As i played from goalkeeper position so i was trained for reflexes unlike strikers who went for run.Ch- it is good that you take a stand and you stand very firm. Now , you have opted for IFS as first choice. Suppose you are ambassador of India to Pakistan and as you said that peace with Pakistan is illusive. I will ask you three questions based on 3 scenarios. Give pro, con and which decision you will take.Status quo with PakistanMe:- pro: terror and talk can not go hand in hand.Con:Pakistan will move towards china to balance its interest.My decision: maintain status quo.( everyone was cheering me here. I had just cleared the cut off for main , thus missed the list by 13 marks..Well life has been cruel/kind enough to teach me how to fight back.. have cleared prelims for 2018 too.. in process to rectify the mistakes done by me in maths optional.. hopefully I will come up to the desired expectations .. till then learn from other honorable toppers and their beautiful journies..hoping to be back soon..Edit-2:- I have got through main exam and will be appearing for interview.. another chance at destiny..

Welcome, ladies, gentlemen, and everyone, to Sequoia Entertainment.Intro: Sequoia Entertainment, often shortened to SEnt, is a (fictitious) small yet respected K-Pop company founded in mid-late 2016. It has a few artists that aren’t very well known, but have a loyal following.Logo:History: Sequoia Entertainment was founded, as said above, in mid to late 2016, by Lia. She remains the CEO to this day and likely will for a long time. Once the basics had been laid in place for the company to begin carving out a niche in the music market, SEnt began accepting trainees for its 2017 cycle. This began by hiring staff from November 2016 to February 2017. In mid-March 2017, the first auditions were held in South Korea, attracting a decent amount of auditionees. Auditions continued to take place until October 2017. Most were in Korea, although there were a few in Japan and North America that attracted some foreigners. Once December had rolled around, training was in full swing for about 25–40 trainees that had successfully passed their auditions. Auditions have continued, but on a smaller scale, and around 15–30 are typically accepted into the company each year.Buildings: SEnt has two buildings: a smaller one for general company things, and a larger one for their music things. (Wow, such eloquence right there…) The larger building has 10 floors, and accessible only by staff, trainees, and idols to ensure their safety. Floor 1 has a reception desk, a small convenience store and ATM, restrooms, and the garage. Staff and managers may always park their cars there, and idols may request a parking permit subject to approval. Trainees are not allowed to have cars while at the company, as there is really no need. Floor 2 is mostly classrooms. Trainees can receive approval to attend school elsewhere (either locally or virtually online), but are automatically enrolled in classes through SEnt. There are also a few music rooms for trainees who play instruments (instruments may be rented or bought from the company, a music supply store, or brought by those who already own them). These rooms are mostly soundproof to ensure productivity. Typically, there are a few chairs and music stands. One room is home to a piano. Floor 3 is rather split between dance and vocal practice rooms. The dance rooms are spacious and always have a mirror, tv screen, sound system, and phone mount for recording. The vocal rooms have high quality recording equipment and such. All rooms on this floor and soundproof.Floor 4 is home to production and writing. The atmosphere is designed to aid concentration in composition, music production, lyric writing, etc. Floors 5 and 6 are house trainee dorms. Since SEnt is focusing on female idols at the moment, all trainees are allowed to room on either floor, each of which has 8 dorm rooms and 4 bathrooms. Floor 7 has five larger bathrooms, two dorm rooms, and eight apartments for idols. The dorm rooms help foster a sense of community and support, while the apartments help foster a sense of self and independence.Floor 8 is taken up by the café, where all staff, trainees, and idols can get food for free at three meals daily (although they are allowed to get outside food at their own cost). Floor 9 has a large common room with sofas, rugs, beanbag chairs, and floor-to-ceiling windows to help members of the company relax throughout their day. It also has two health offices for those who are injured or sick. Floor 10 helps with pilates/yoga, cardio, and other exercise, including a gym and small pool among its rooms. The roof (with a high fence around the edges) has a beautiful view of the surrounding area and boasts a barbeque, movie screening area, and a garden.Auditions: Auditions take place annually from March to September in Korea, Japan, and North America, with each audition recorded. An auditionee will have 1 minute. In this time, they will need to:Introduce themselves in English, Japanese, or Korean by stating their nameDo an acapella cover of a song (with vocals. No classical music)Show off a short dance cover of a song with their own original choreographyThank the judges for their timeAuditionees may do the acapella and dance at the same time if they wish but are not required to. The main things judged on are vocal skill, captivating choreography, and confidence. If the judges believe someone is a good fit, they will send the audition video to the company headquarters to have it reviewed. If the CEO has approved, they will be notified within a month after their audition and sign their contract.Trainee Schedule: Training Monday-Saturday, Wednesday and Saturday are 1/2 days, Sunday is a day off (So pretty much, 2 days off a week). On Sunday, meals are available around the same times as on other days. Trainees with close families will often go visit. Those with farther families will often video chat. We don’t want to take that away from them, so we give them classes that by the end of their time here, will bring them to a level that, at the very least, matches or surpasses that of a high school graduate and prepares them to enter college/university. Trainees and idols have between 2.5 and 5 hours of academic classes daily, and these include math, science, language arts, and history. All classes will differ based on age and ability. Math usually goes up to pre-calculus/calculus. Trainees must maintain an average that’s between 75% and 85% in all classes otherwise they risk being dropped. Idols should maintain at least a 70%. Tutoring may be requested.Non Academic Lessons: These range from vocals, rapping, dancing, interviews/public interactions, and more, but are focused on helping trainees/idols develop skills that will be crucial once they debut.Enrichment: Our trainees/idols must be healthy people, so we require a health course. This covers things physical health to mental health. If a trainee/idol is struggling with their mental health, they can reach out to their health to teacher to get help. Also, other enrichment classes available include modeling, acting, lyric writing, music production, and cultural studies. It is also recommended that trainees/idols learn at least one instrument if they haven’t already.Language Classes: While this will differ based on the market we plan to debut a trainee in, the general importance ranking of languages to learn is Korean, English, and Japanese. (A trainee must be fluent in/a native speaker of one or more to train.) Once a trainee has reached at least a B2/C1 level of fluency in the highest ranking language they have not already learned, they will work their way down the list. Trainees who are already or become fluent in all three can drop language classes.Work Time: This is time allotted during a day to work on things like preparing for exams, producing music, writing lyrics/raps, choreographing dances, composing music, etc. that is required for a comeback. In the case of a trainee, this work will be saved until they debut to be referenced during comebacks. Idols are expected to actively help contribute to the creation of each comeback.Exams: These are given once a month to trainees and bi-annually to idols to ensure they are performing up to standard. A bit of leeway is given in certain scenarios (clear effort/talent but lack of confidence, long-time trainee/idol performing slightly subpar for a short time but trying to remedy the problem, sick/injured, etc). After all, we strive to be fair and reasonable. If a trainee fails an exam, extra work in the problem areas should help counteract that. If they fail three in a row, the termination of their contract will be discussed. Each exam consists of performances in a trainee’s specialty area (vocals, rap, dance). In the case of a group draft, the group will do two shorter performances: one individual, one together.Food: The food at SEnt is designed to foster healthy eating habits. We try to monitor obvious under or overeating to ensure our trainees/idols stay healthy. We encourage eating well, but at the same time monitoring oneself and choosing healthy options. Breakfast usually includes toast, eggs, cereal, other common breakfast foods, etc. Lunch always has a salad bar in addition to the meal of the day. Dinner has a few rotating staples in addition to the meal of the day.Housing/Dorms: As mentioned in the section about company buildings, the dorms are on floors 5, 6, and 7. 5 and 6 are identical, each housing trainees in 8 dorm rooms with 4 bathrooms (per floor). Each of the dorm rooms has two bunk beds and one regular bed with a desk for each trainee. The bathrooms have sinks, toilets, and shower/baths. The 7th floor is for idols and has 5 bathrooms (same as trainees), 2 dorm rooms (2–4 people in regular beds), and 8 apartments (1–2 people).Idols: Once a trainee is ready to debut, they will be considered by the CEO (with input from the trainee) to determine the best size of their group, or if they would be better solo. The decision is compared with other trainees ready to debut in order to form the right groups. Trainees will have input on who is in their group. At this point, they will also transfer to an idol contract.Leaving: Trainees may leave for another company if SEnt and the other company have agreed, and SEnt decides the other company would be a good fit for the trainee. Trainees may leave and quit trainee life as long as they notify SEnt of their intentions at least sixty days in advance (thirty days for 1 year contracts). Idols may leave their group/subunit after a discussion with the CEO and other member(s) to ensure the decision will actually benefit them. If the case that a trainee or idol terminates a contract, they will have to pay back all debt as well as a reasonable legal fee. Before an idol leaves our company, we give them to tools to succeed. These include the education they have received, driving lessons, brand promotion deals, solo works, acting roles, etc.Contracts: Trainee contracts can be 1 year, 3 years, or 5 years. Once they have been placed to debut, the trainee contract is terminated and they are given an idol contract. Soloist contracts are for 4 years or 6 years. Group contracts are for 3 years, 7 years, or 9 years. In the case of a group contract, the members must agree together on the contract length. If a subunit debuts, each of its members keeps their group contract and simply signs a new subunit contract for 1 year, 2 years, or 3 years. Contracts may be renewed or terminated when they are up.Safety: Company buildings are accessible only by face scan (in the case of malfunction, verification from a staff member) to ensure only people with clearance can enter. Also, in public, idols will be with their manager or other staff. Trainees will stay in groups with a staff member. Outings must be approved with at least four days notice.Rules/Bans: There will be a dating ban for 1.5–3 years after debut to ensure the stress of dating does not impact an idol’s abilities or health (mental or physical). Trainees may not date. Additionally, it is recommended that an idol discuss their relationship with their manager to ensure it is a healthy one. If an idol and their partner have been dating for at least 4–6 months and both companies agree (and the relationship has been confirmed a healthy, non-toxic, non-abusive one), SEnt will be happy to announce the joyful news.
