YESSS!!! I couldn’t wait to answer this question!One day, I went to The Home Depot to pick up an order. I get there and go to the pickup / customer service desk. The lady at the computer asked me for my name, ID, and order number. I gave her all the information she asked for. She goes to get my order. Then some other employee comes up to me and starts pushing me to open my phone and open my email. She went: “Hey come on come on get your phone out of your pocket and open your email now!”. I asked her what she wanted, and she told me again to open my email. Once again, I asked her why.She tells me to open the order pickup confirmation and to give her a 5 Star rating. (Keep in mind this is not the lady who was getting my order). She goes on crazy for me to open that stupid email, and blah blah blah.Turns out the store manager was right behind her and the second I got my order the manager looked at her and said, “Give me your vest, and your ID. You’re FIRED, get out the door NOW!!!” She left and we never saw her again.

Am I obligated to open the door if the police come knocking?No more than you’re obligated to open the door for anyone else.There are a couple of caveats to this.If they have a search warrant (or an arrest warrant for someone who is known to live in your house), they’re coming in anyway. They do not have to show you the warrant first. Unless it’s a no-knock search warrant, they must knock and announce their presence (“Police!” or “Federal Agents!) and authority (“Search Warrant!”) They have to give you a copy of the warrant (but not the affidavit) at some point, along with an inventory of any property taken as evidence.That being said, if they’re not shouting “search warrant” and you’re sure they’re the police, it’s safe to open the door. They may be investigating something in the neighborhood and only want to ask some questions. The police can’t investigate a crime without information and they go about gathering that information in a systematic fashion, which often includes canvassing the neighborhood. (This is one of the few things Hollywood gets right about police work, though there’s seldom a whole precinct/station/shift of patrol officers doing the canvassing. Sometimes it’s one cop.)Edit 12/13/20So I’m getting a little tired of addressing comments which posit avoidable or unlikely circumstances or assume that the police are out to get you (hint: unless you really are a criminal, they aren’t.)Answer the door, don’t answer the door, nobody cares. If you haven’t done anything, it’s unlikely the police are there to arrest or hassle you. They’re likely looking for information on the order of “Have you seen a small child wandering around without an adult?” or “Did you see anyone strange at the house across the street this morning?”The police are busy enough without screwing with random people.

President of Russia Yelstin barricaded himself along with loyalist in the Russian government building. Soviet Special Forces surrounded the building. Hundreds of thousands of Russians courageously stepped between the the Army and the Russian legislature.For those who think that “99%” of gun owners would not risk their lives for something they believe in pay attention. Hundreds of thousands Russian people made a human barricade to protect Yeltsin from the Soviet Army. An Army that has been used to suppress popular uprisings throughout Europe.The Russian high command gave the order to open fire upon the crowd, enter the legislature and arrest Yeltsin. The Russian elite army refused to obey the order. They refused to fire on their own people!The coup collapse. Then Gorbechev was freed, the conspirators were arrested and the Soviet Union collapsed.You really think the U.S. military will follow orders to shoot fellow Americans? Especially since many of the gun enthusiast are in the military?
