PDF Editor FAQ
Have you ever called the police on other police?
Yes, sort of. There was a situation where an officer from a different department was going through a divorce. He was using his connections with his department to harrass his soon-to-be ex wife and manipulate their kids. I had done a couple Family Law internships and clinics while in law school so I was able to tap into my connections.I obtained documentation of this officer’s court filings. He was able to get an emergency protective order (EPO) against his ex because he knew the right language to use on the forms and submitted them through other officers he knew. A judge approved the order based on the manipulations. He claimed she was violent and abused their kids. He had it served on his ex on Christmas eve because she was supposed to have the kids over the holidays. The day after the EPO expired he left the kids with her and flew with his new girlfriend to a football game.I gathered up the documentation and his own statements that he made up everything. He bragged to his friends that he did it on Christmas Eve. I was able to get sworn affidavits from multiple officers that he was bragging about it (one officer was so disgusted that he actually recorded him bragging). He also sent an email to his ex that mentioned the EPO and why he did it (yeah, he was a moron). I wrote a long detailed point-by-point letter referencing nearly a dozen pieces of evidence proving the sworn statement he wrote to get the EPO was completely fabricated. I also sent evidence that the three other officers who worked with him on it knew what they were doing. I sent it all to the judge that approved the EPO, the Sheriff’s department (where the officers who helped him worked), his family law attorney and the ex’s attorney. The result was he was fired by his department and lost his pension. The three officers that helped him were also fired (not sure whether they kept their pensions). The ex’s attorney presented it to the family court and his visitation with his kids was changed to every other weekend supervised only. Unfortunately, no criminal charges were filed against the officer for committing perjury.

If a marriage is not registered then it is possible to take a divorce?
All depends on what form of marriage you have gone through. The marriage certificate lost by you does not mean you cannot get a duplicate copy of the same from the Marriage Registrar where the marriage was registered. More over the photographs of wedding, wedding card, marriage certificate of the priest who solemnised the marriage or temple where marriage was solemnised and affidavit of gone through the valid marriage ceremonies are all good proof of evidence for divorce process in the Family Court. The name as suggest you are Muslim and for the Muslim marriage you need not go to Family Court as the Muslim marriage can be dissolved by the Family Court only if the Muslim woman seek decree of divorce under the Muslim Dissolution Act, 1939. For Muslim man the divorce is as per Muslim Shariat law for which you have to contact Quazi for the process of divorce and obtaining Talaqnamma, decree of divorce.
