Since the March lows there have been three, complete, pullbacks, 7.19%, 6.37%, and 8.27%. Today marks the beginning of the 4th. This is what security markets “do.” This is its nature. This is what you are dealing with. For the rest of your life this is what you will always be dealing with.Temporary declines followed by permanent advances.Average the three previous declines out, and a 7.3% decline would be perfectly normal, and healthy, in my opinion. A 10% decline would remind people, once again, that the stock market goes up AND down. The 3394 price level, once resistance, is now the base of support.Time will tell if it holds.And stock market “crashes” are rare events, not biannual events.Good day.

For Greece, depends. Which country do you want to see? There’s lots of them, squished one over the other like sardines in a can. But if I had to pick one, that would be……Salonika, or Thessalonike (Θεσσαλονίκη). It’s the second largest city of the country and our co-capital, as well as much more connected to the country than the capital, Athens (which has its own shorter history, tied with politics and the state more than the land). Salonika is littered with antiquities from all Greek history, and has long been one of the most important urban centres in the region.Founded in the 4th c. BC by Kassandros of Macedonia, Salonika has a population of one million, and is host to the largest university in the Balkans as well as one of the best nightlifes in Greece. Would likely be my #1 recommendation for people wanting to come visit Greece in any capacity (as long as they seem nice. If not, then I’d send them to the quarantine party-island of Mykonos).The Roman Agora (forum), built in the 2nd c. AD:The Rotunda of Tetrarch Galerius, standing since AD 306. Famed for its ancient mosaics, it is now a museum that opens annually (biannually?) for a liturgy.The contemporary Arch of Galerius.The Heptapyrgio or Yedikule (Greek and Turkish for “Seven-towered”) fortress, built in the 4th c. by Emperor Theodosios, in use by Romans, Franks and Turks until the 19th c. Infamous in Greek folk song as an inescapable prison:The Church of St. Demetrius, patron saint of the city (and the author, and the A2A’er). Founded in the 4th c. AD, the modern structure dates from the 13th c. As it was after the Great Fire of 1917 that burnt 2/3rds of the city:As it is today:The Bezesteni, a market active since the 15th c., when it was built by Sultan Mehmed Fatih:The 16th c. aqueduct, built by Suleyman the Magnificent (edit: actually, this one’s in Kavala, a neighbouring town - and the photo is the Old Town of Kavala. All the same, it’s pretty and old and has a castle in the background. So it stays.):(Edit: So this one is the aqueduct of Salonika, the aqueduct of Hortiates. It was built in the 1st c. AD.)The Yeni Cami, the mosque-synagogue of the city’s old Donmeh (Hebrew-Moslem) community, who decided the Messiah had come and himself converted to Islam. It is now a museum to the community’s history:Megaro Natsina (Greek. Natsinas’ manor) or Emniyet Han (Turk. House of Trust), one of the city’s most beautiful historic houses:Athonos square, an open market:The old “NATO headquarters”, once a country manor of our Queen Olga…(edit) and originally built as a manorhouse of the Jewish Hernandez family, who were all lost in the Holocaust:The Red Tower in 1912, named so for having served as the Sultan’s execution chamber in the early 19th c.:The White Tower since 1917, a chillingly un-ironic national symbol of Greece and the trademark symbol of Salonika:
