Why did AAP lose and BJP win the MCD Delhi elections by a large margin despite huge corruption in past 10 years?

The analysis to the AAP losing to BJP in MCD elections has two layers. The working style of Delhi government and the internal health of AAPThe working style of Delhi Government: Delhi government has awesome health policy and education policy. It has worked a lot on providing clean drinking water and has also saved money on PWD projects as well.Delhi government's continuous confrontational politics with the Centre took the toll and the Delhi Chief Minister refused to listen to the internal input that this confrontation is harming the image of the govt.Whatever be the case, any government has to work within the ambit of the constitution. Especially, the AAP government should have been extra cautious being a new kid in the block that had successfully challenged the established political parties.Even if they were not allowed to work, then instead of bypassing the rule book, the C.M. should have gone humble and approached the LG as the representative of Delhi people and requested for his approval on files.Could the LG or the Centre then ever block people's projects and ever think of becoming the villain in people's court?Initially, many had the view that playing victim will gain sympathy but since last year it could be easily seen that people want solutions and do not want to be in the Centre of the tug of war.The thing that angered Delhi voters most was that many of their MLAs (e.g. Adarsh Shastri, Satyender Jain, Gulab Singh, Naresh Yadav , Jarnail Singh etc) were out of their assembly constituencies for organizational work of their party i.e the AAP. This gave the message to Delhi voters that Delhi is not a priority for them any more and for Delhi C.M. the expansion of AAP is more important. The organizational structure of a political party should be always independent of that party's government in any state.Resignation of Rajouri Garden MLA sanctioned their doubts completely that Delhi C.M. is not interested in Delhi anymore.People had chosen AAP as an anti-corruption party and hence news about Tomar's fake degree case, Satyender Jain's nepotism and Rs 16000 per head as lunch cost did the final job in moving the AAP's votes away. The internal health of AAP:AAP is a volunteer based party and thus volunteers are its spinal chord. Delhi volunteer base of AAP is almost five years old and has been in the thick and thin of AAP.With the 67 seats mandate came an influx of workers from other political parties, especially in those assemblies where AAP had given tickets to routine politicians in Delhi assembly election 2015. These workers are very different form the original core base and know how to make their space through buttering. Soon they captured the space within Delhi AAP state unit through their age old techniques of routine politics. Here also, within the state unit, MLAs had the major say in to who will hold what posts within the AAP Delhi state unit. So definitely people with personal agendas dominated the original warrior volunteer core base and hence they got passive. Finally, the opaque distribution for MCD elections, with many new entrants getting tickets made volunteers run out of their patience and they went underground. Some of them even joined other political parties as a mark of protest or contested as independents.AAP leadership should introspect that why after having an old volunteer base in Delhi, they were giving tickets to the new entrants even at ward level.A valid question from tickets being given to newbies is that why newbies even at ward level when in most of the wards they already had the the original team. Obviously there has to be some hidden interests, and that validates the ticket selling allegations by ground volunteers.Audios were also released by AAP memebrs in various whatsApp groups and some also went to the media for example NewsGram came up with a series of articles about the unrest among ground volunteers vis -a-vis ticket distribution. PART 1: Want a ticket for MCD elections? Pay 2 Crore and get ticket from Aam Aadmi PartyWomen Wing lashed with sticks in Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on protesting against Unethical Distribution of TicketsOther Newsportals also published similar reports AAP leader Sanjay Singh slapped by woman party workerMCD polls: AAP workers being 'ignored, overlooked' in ticket distribution (VIDEO) - Newsroom Post | DailyHuntAAP leadership should now shed their attitude, that they give a damn to whosoever leaves AAP.Any political party or say any project needs team building that includes variety of team members with independent minds as well and not only the yes men.AAP leadership should learn this from the organizational structure of BJP and also RSS and stay away from Indian National Congress or Samajwadi Party kind of attitude of having only yes men around.AAP now, should come back to basics and restoration of its founding principles. Leadership should also accept internally that their expansion spree was not the right decision.Further the organizational set up should be constituted from the volunteer base and not include the elected representatives, The MLAs and the CM should focus only on their duties that they have been elected for.By coming back to basics, it is implied, that it should restore the founding principles. What the situation as of now is be it wrong decision making, faulty organizational set up or ticket selling alleged by ground volunteers, the core AAP principles could have take care of all.AAP was supposed to be financially transparent as per its donation policy on its website but the donor list and balance sheets of AAP went missing since last June.AAP was the mascot of transparent political funding and all kinds corruption and clientalism within a political party can be stopped only through transparent political funding. Then comes the principle of Swaraj ( Self rule ie the grass root internal democracy). This takes care of all the ills arising out of favoritism within the political organizations and also ensures transparent selection of candidates. Finally the internal lokpal (internal ombudsman) as promised by the AAP at the time of inception and is mentioned on its website should be the independent and strong watchdog, which is now nowhere seen in the present structure. It helps in fixing the accountability of leadership to its members.Last but not the least: Leadership should start listening to the differing voices withing the party that pose questions and raise concerns and not discarding them as BJP or congress agents. One may also read: An open letter exploring the reason behind the pain of AAP women wing.Sluggish response in MCD Elections 2017 - Does the buck stops at political parties now - A voter's perspective

Is Arvind Kejriwal an opportunist? When it is evident that INC is a sinking ship, and there is a huge share to be grabbed, is Kejriwal trying to establish his political career and his party AAP?

I will start from the initial stages of IAC movement.I was in college my final year. My friend came, initiated the discussion of IAC, Anna Hazare has started the movement against corruption. My immediate response was “New party will come at the end”. He rebutted me as cynic. After many days,He told, "You were right", in the end Anna Hazare told about party formation. They had taken us a ride. I told him, congress or BJP will make them take back the decision and he will let it go just like that as if nothing has happened at all and BJP will reap the benefit over the movement rabble rousing.2 to 3 days later,He told me Anna Hazare went back on his words just like you predicted. But, there was some section under Arvind Kejriwal who had decided to form the party. Arvind? Who is he? You never told about him while you were participating over these days. He said he is the one who taken care of background activities and he himself went to fast vigorously. It has piqued my interest but in the end I told him , opportunist seems to me.End of the discussion about IAC, I never heard about the party or Arvind again till december 9 2013. My mom noticed newspaper clipping of his victory while we were going to temple in an auto. My mom impressed about the news. She showed it to me, and said we never heard about him much, our media never told about him. It is really incredible, look at him, a lean yet smiling guy, not of politician's look and really seems to be a down to earth guy. Auto driver hearing about our talk told, he is not our usual politician, he never used black money, so why do media propagate him like they do about other parties? I was stunned to heard about that from him. Then he told, how AAP is formed and how candidates selected, their funds only from donations of people that too had given all the details in their website. I thought No way, How could our political system allow such person to win. I was skeptic. Then came 49 days stint of AAP as Delhi Government. I was impressed with his governance especially his principle of people should have lifeline water. That will be the responsibility of any government. His assembly session was fluently watchable since it was decent. While, congress and BJP MLAs were at their usual goonish acts like breaking mikes, tearing papers. Around the same time, famous pepper spray incident happened in parliament. It was a pleasant surprise to see his conduct in compare to other parties. The day Khirki incident happened, I had admonished him for protecting the Bharti, but equally angered on DP denying the MLA request to investigate for the same. (Then after few weeks three ugandan women complained about sex racket in the same building which he wanted police to do a raid). Then news came about Rakhi Bidlan tiff against with DP because, DP is not registering a FIR on the family who set fire on their Daughter in Law. He did a PC stating all the inaction of DP,gave an ultimatum to Center if they do not suspend the officers who was involved in the matter until the inverstigation is over. They will protest against the center near MHO office. I took it as a ploy. Again, he proved me wrong, he went to protest as told, and the center had implement 144 sec by night before the protest. Their usual tactic, I was greatly surprised to see people who supported the nirbhaya protests breaking 144 sec, now calling him as anarchist. He sarcastically said he is indeed an anarchist if doing protest against center for action against errant officers. Media, BJP,Congress picked up that one line "I am an anarchist" derided him a lot. He slept on the road that chilling night. The morning there was a caption in few media channels where they showed general public supporting Arvind but in just few hours, they took a U-turn displaying how people are despising it. Then in a moment of frustration he challenged the center about Republic day parade comment. It does the trick according to me; center started the discussion with him through LG who placated him to accept the decision of sending officers on leave till investigation gets completed. He accepted it, as this itself a leap of victory and no fool would be serious about not caring about Republic Day for "DP getting under state hold" which center would not oblige forever. There, I started to see him in new light. People called it as strategic back out and started ridiculing him in disgusting manner. Then I saw the usual yet unusual combination of Congress-BJP hand in hand in the Delhi assembly session regarding the Lokayukta bill which AAP call it as Delhi Janlokpal bill. They categorically rejected the bill without even discussing about the contents. While the same Congress and BJP hurriedly passed AP bifurcation under darkroom by cutting out video link to the public. Conveniently, the later forgot the constitution for dividing the state against public wishes and former suddenly reminded about constitution for protecting people from corrupt ministers and stalled it. A week back, Arvind gave an interview to Barkha Dutt in which he told he will resign as CM, if they do not let the bill to be tabled. I took it as light and was expecting a U-turn from him. Sticking to his chair like any other politician. He proved me wrong again, the next moment he went to his office and announced his resignation and dissolving the government. I was stunned; I never saw such action from any politician till date. It was a minority government; usually they do everything to stick with opposition to be in power. He was opposite. People started to say he has quit because he wanted to become PM. This is utter gibberish. Not only us, even the incongruous congress knows; Modi will win the Lok sabha with thumping handed.People say he is cunning but he had quit CM for PM race out of greed. It is contradictory, no one will quit CM seat for a PM seat for which not even a 1% chance is there to win. He left a good job of being income tax officer. We all know how much people earn through under the table means. He left it for social service which does not have future. Always in a jeopardy over the system who comes after them. Some retorted to me that he had quit his IRS to become a CM and he calculated his steps by using Anna Hazare and everyone. This is the bizarre reason I have heard, they talk like the path to the CM is very easy and easily gettable. Also, if what they told is true, then no way he will opt to go for chanceless PM seat by leaving his CM seat. No, he is not an opportunist, he is just a crusader to change the faltered and bartered system we are in. Opportunist is the one who discards his principles to meet the goal. He is still fighting with his principles intact.P.S : You may call me AK bhakt or sycophant whatever. I admire only three persons in my life, Abdul kalam, Sourav Ganguly and Arvind Kejriwal.
