2018 is not going to be any different than previous years when it comes to cyber security vulnerabilities and threats.Let's talk about vulnerabilities first , Checkout this OWASP top 10 vulnerability list released in 2017. In this document they have compared the top 10 list from 2013 with the top 10 list of 2017.Most vulnerabilities in top 10 list has not changed, for example - mis-configuration, sql injection and many others.SQL injection and misconfoguration will continue to dominate in 2018 when it comes to vulnerabilities.As for threats it depends on the industry and assets you are trying to protect.Threats/threat actor ranges fromCyber criminal (ransomware, DDoS)Nation state sponsored attackHacktivismInsider threats (employee going rogue or an attacker assuming insiders identity and conductong malicious activity)One more thing to clarify is this, just because you are containerizing or migrating your application in the cloud , will not automatically make it secure. This is my first story on Quora. :>)I attended a polytechnic after my high school, and two years in, my parents sat me down and told me they could not sponsor my education further.This came as a shock to me because I felt I really had a bright future. I graduated as the best in 6 out of 9 subjects in my high school.So I joined a radio station as an administrative intern. I was determined to work hard, and probably grow in that line.One day at work, I had left my computer on and dashed out for a snack. A co-worker got into my office and used my computer to search for a scholarship, because his personal computer was acting up. When he was done, he left the tab open.I returned from snacking, and saw an open tab on 'Federal Scholarship Board, Nigeria'.I applied, not hoping for anything... Just trying my luck.All applicants were required to write a national exam, after which 2 students would be picked from each of the 36 states in Nigeria.When I told my parents about the scholarship exam, they were very skeptical, because, well.. It's Nigeria we're talking about.I saved up my salary and travelled to write this exam. At the exam centre, I was asked to choose a country, most of the choices were Asian and North American countries, with the exception of USA and Canada. I chose Mexico, because I found the language to be quite interesting, the interviewer looked at me and said;'I will write Russia.''Err, no sir, Russian Language is really hard, and cold, and vodka, and Mafias...''Hahaha, funny girl, I will write Russia.'My fate was sealed with that, and that (in another story hopefully), was the best way God has used a person to push me to my right path.3 weeks later I was called from Abuja:'Hello, is this Adewunmi Olujimi?'‘Yes.’'This is to inform you that you've been nominated for the Bilateral Educational Agreement between Nigeria, and Russia, Congratulations!'I was beyond shocked. It is impossible to be favoured in Nigeria… I mean, this is Nigeria.To cut the story short, two months from then, I was in Russia, and guess who I met on my first day in Kazan (a city in Russia) - My future husband. All these happened in 2013, I graduated with a first class in 2018,and I and my husband have been married for 3 years now, with a very beautiful baby boy.So, in every way, if my parents hadn't told me they couldn't sponsor my education, I wouldn't have left Nigeria, or have met the man than was made specially for me.

Hello,The entire journey of choosing Germany holds an interesting story behind it.After completing my bachelors, I was highly motivated to complete my further studies from a highly reputed university from the United States.July 2012.As mentioned, my initial search was focused towards the United States of America. I was preparing for my GRE exam and also side by side researching more on the topic of Cloud Computing. The research ideas was really good and we were able to published 2 papers in highly reputed IEEE sponsored conferences. So I was pretty sure that I am moving in the right direction of building up my profile and only need a good GRE score.August 2012.One day one of my old friend visits me and told he is going to Australia for higher studies. We were discussing about the expenses and I shows my concern that I don’t know how I will be able to manage my finances. Arranging 30–40 lakhs INR was a very big challenge for my family. He replied why don’t you try for Norway, they offers free education. I was amazed by his answer and at night just to confirm the same I googled “ countries offering free masters program” and as a result I was redirected to a page which have few names of countries in it.I was amazed to see Germany in that list. I start researching more on the topic, but at that time only few students opt for the Germany so I was clueless that which universities are good and is it worth to do a masters in Germany?? Meanwhile the focus was again shifted to states and I gave my TOEFL exam.September 2012.Was really stressed about how to manage my finances and was not able to concentrate on my GRE preparation. Negative thoughts were circulating that if I am not able to manage my finances then not only I already rejected my job offer from college but also I will be about to waste my precious year and what I will do in my life??I again visited my friend ( who gave me idea about free education in Norway). I asked him:-Me: Hey! Do you also have any idea about Germany ? I checked and found out that they also offers zero tuition fees in their master programs.Friend : Yes. But majority of programs offered are in German Language. Also getting an admit in TU9 university is a very tough nut to crack.Me: Wait , what is TU9 university?Friend: Just like we have IIT’s in India, Ivy League in States, TU9 is the group of highly prestigious universities in Germany.Me: aha( with glittering eyes).Friend: But is very difficult to crack an admit and even if you hold any backlog in your bachelors or you from any non reputed college in India, you better not think about applying there.Me: (With a storm of thoughts in my mind)..Ok..Friend: But yes there are other good universities too. Search on Internet.October 2012:The final list was made. Shortlisted 6 universities in Germany. Due to fear of rejection, only 2 university from TU9 is chosen So the list was TU Ilmenau, TU darmstadt, University of Konstanz, University of Magdeburg, University of Paderborn and TUHH.Feb 2013: Send all my applications and from then onwards, checking emails 50 times a day was a common practice.March 2013: Received a letter from TUHH, stating a rejection. I was filled with fear that my friend was right. Getting an admit from a German University is not easy and now as I had not applied to United states, I am about the verge of wasting a year.April 2013: Second rejection from Paderborn.May 2013: An invitation for an oral interview of 30 minutes.TU Ilmenau sends an mail that I need to attend an oral interview on skype for 30 minutes. The date of interview is scheduled on 4th June 2013. Based on the result of Interview/oral exam, the decision about the admit will be stated.I locked my self in my room and start revising all the main topics from my Engineering. I prepared for Database, Networking, Software project management, data structure and analysis and design of algorithms.4th June 2013: The D day.Was already started skype one hour before and sat on my PC. Heart was pumping very fast and don’t know what is about to come. Also It was raining heavily outside and was also scared that what if I get a power cut during my oral exam?But at sharp 6:30 PM(IST), my exam begin. For 25 minutes, Professor asked me a bunch of questions. Except One, answered all questions correctly and then He said the golden words” I am happy with your answers and giving you an ADMIT. The admission letter will reach you within 2 weeks.I just jumped from my seat, thanked Professor many times and was damm happy about the same. Called my parents and break the news that I got an admit in Germany and we do not have to pay any fees for the same.10 July 2013:I was just surfing for the stuffs need to carry to Germany and visa process and suddenly thought about checking my admission status for TU Darmstadt. With a hope of getting a rejection, Just open the portal and saw the message : “ Congratulations ! You have selected for the Masters program of Distributed Software Systems at TU Darmstadt”.The message was uploaded 8 days ago. I did not believe my eyes. Logout and the again login….but the message was same.I scored an admit from the TU9 university. I was so happy about the same that I can not express my feelings for the same. I informed my friend ( who told me about tu9) about the same.On the later part I only took near about 6 lakh rupees(INR) from my parents for depositing 8040 Euros for the Visa. With various student jobs, I was not only able to returned that 6 lakhs rupees to my parents, but also finances my entire education expenses and my stay in Germany for next years.So that is how, I choose Germany for my Higher Education and I am happy that I financed my education with no tension about the heavy loans and enjoyed a world class education from a top rated institute from the world .
