The play is spirited and at times physical, but never nasty, and takes into account the most vulnerable players (youngest and/or least skilled), so that players are neither bullied nor coddled. It’s making him a much better player for his school and travel teams, and for me is a priceless experience (for as long as it lasts).So, I’d suggest that any aging player consider:Continuing at the highest level that they can still enjoy and be challenged (if competition is the primary aim);If something else is your priority, take pleasure in that instead; andIn both cases, keep your ego in check, your core strong, and your connective tissues well stretched.
