California is becoming crazy town! The state legislature spends like they have a printing press and an unlimited supply of ink. The legislature is spending so much, they're in constant search for new revenue sources to pay for it!They've recently passed a tax on potable (tap) water.A new tax on tires has just been proposed,They're working on ending property tax reforms enacted in 1978.Just a year ago, they passed an additional tax on gas which has raised gas prices by nearly $1/galIn addition, they have again raised vehicle registration fees.The regulatory climate is chasing businesses out of state and discouraging new businesses.It appears the legalization of marijuana isn't providing the sales tax boon they had planned on with people growing their own!California is a sanctuary state. It prioritizes protecting and serving illegal immigrants over the legal residents.Universal healthcare is also on the legislative docket. If its anything like the bill they were working on just prior to Obamacare, it will cover everyone present in the state without a residency requirement.Does anyone in Sacramento even have a clue what they're doing to such a beautiful state? I don't think they even care.I'm a lifelong California resident and am in the middle of making my move to a low tax, fiscally conservative state.

I am retired and am seriously studying other communities with the intention of moving in the not so distant future. I am completely disappointed in the politics of the state of California. It has moved so far to the left, its almost unrecognizable. The State legislature is solidly in the hands of liberal / socialists, I don't see it ever returning to center. California has declared itself a sanctuary state, and spends more effort defending their support of illegal aliens than protecting its citizen residents. The new governor (Newsom) makes Jerry Brown look like a conservative, and the city over which he was mayor, is now a cesspool of streets whose gutters are lined with used syringes and human feces.As for the cost of living, it is already way too high and it will only get worse. The ultra liberal legislature is working on a universal health care plan that will increase California's high tax environment. Water rationing is also on the docket, to limit households to 50 gallons per day per person. Exceeding the limit will cost households dearly. Energy is among the highest in the country, as is gasoline to fuel our cars…mass transit is almost nonexistent and where it exists, it doesn't go far enough to be helpful.Our schools used to be among the best, now they're hovering near the bottom.Its sad, but there's not much to commend life in California other than the weather, and the way its going, they'll find a way to tax that too!
