I’ve read other answers and they seem to go on at length about how cosplayers might cause problems.Tokyo Disneyland has tons of local cosplayers, many of them dressed so authentically that it is often impossible to tell the cosplayers apart from the Disneyland employees.Which one of these is the “real” Rapunzel, and which is a cosplayer?Did you guess the last one? … well the fact that she’s part of the parade is a bit of a give-away, but I think you’ll get the point, that (in Japan at least) there are lots of people wandering around in cosplay, and there are no major issues. This started with “Halloween only”, and has slowly expanded over the last few years.The other two were cosplayers by the way, and their costumes were absolutely amazing - nearly perfect in every detail.The fan cosplayers take pressure off the park’s official employees, give everyone a chance to get a photo with their favourite characters, and generally give the park a fantastic atmosphere.The bottom line is that Disney wants their wedding revenue. And let’s not sugar coat this - they’re a business, so making money is their goal.They only ban brides if they haven’t paid for the official wedding package. If they have booked a “Disney wedding” then suddenly the objections disappear.And Disney is a business. Their policy is motivated purely and simply by money. Anyone giving any other answer is simply deluding themselves.

My boyfriend and I got engaged. It took us a while but we decided to get married on a cruise. The wedding package was great value and guests had to be booked onto the cruise, so we didnt feel obligated to invite acquaintances (which we would have if we got married where we live, as it is a very tight-knit community).I was having dinner with some friends and we were talking about the cruise, the wedding, the dress etc. My friend D said “Im surprised you ok'd Aunt M's invite". YOU WHAT!? D does home care for my partner's aunt and Aunt M had spent an entire 2 hours talking about going to the wedding.I immediately rang my partner asking if he knew anything, which he didn't (he dislikes her as well). Turns out, his mum, who is super-besties with Aunt M had invited her along, without even checking with us.Then came the conversation.MIL: I don't see why aunt M can't come, she has been so unwell of late and really needs a trip away (despite the wedding being 18 months away)ME: unfortunately we are limited in guest numbersMIL: We went to both her childrens weddings, so it really is only fair she comes to oyr kids weddings.ME: we already have the max guests.MIL: Ive spoken to the cruise company and they said there was just an extra fee for extra guests. If money is a problem, Im happy to pay the extra.ME: Aunt M is one of the most miserable and negative people I know. She brings down everyone who is around her and is certainly not someone I want at my wedding or honeymoon cruise. She managed to drive away all her family with her bitterness, so she is only left with you as a friend. We do not want her at the wedding, and I would appreciate if you did not invite people to our wedding.MIL: But how am I meant to uninvite her?I have never been so furious with someone in my entire life.

My mother-in-law attempted to hijack our wedding. She failed.My mother-in-law (MIL) did not have the wedding of her dreams. Her narcissistic mother took everything over and made the wedding all about her. MIL’s parents were footing the bill, so it’s not unreasonable that they would have a lot of control over the details, but MIL feels she missed out on the whole “I’m the bride, he’s the groom, this is OUR day” thing, as it became MIL’s mother’s day.So what did MIL do? Tried to make our wedding all about her.Two important notes here. (1) My husband is an only child, so this would be her one and only chance to hijack a wedding, barring our divorce or my death. (2) We were paying for the wedding.We were living in City X at the time. The in-laws lived in Suburb Y of Major City Z. Most of our friends were poor starving grad students or recent graduates who had settled in City X, and could not easily afford to shell out money for a plane ticket plus two nights in a hotel plus a gift. Most of HER friends were retirees (or close to retiring) and airfare + hotel + nice gift would be pocket change to them, relatively speaking. But MIL wanted to make it easy for HER friends (many of whom I’d never even met) to attend, and to hell with our friends.So she whipped up a spreadsheet. She priced out wedding packages at a few fairly pricey venues in City X and at the Crowne Plaza (!) in Suburb Y. One of the dinner options at the CP was a chicken-and-steak platter. So, for the CP, she listed the dinner price per person as the cost of said platter. For the venues in City X, she listed the dinner price per person as the cost of a chicken dinner PLUS the cost of a steak dinner. She then proudly sent us this spreadsheet stating that it would be more than twice as expensive to get married in City X instead of Suburb Y. Of course it will if you serve everybody two meals!!I refused to speak to her for several months after that little stunt (which, to this day, she claims was a simple mistake - and if you believe it was a mistake, I’ve got a bridge I’d like to sell you). My then-fiance informed her that, since we were paying, the wedding WOULD be in City X so that OUR friends could easily attend, and, if she didn’t like it, tough. And we booked a lovely, but not break-the-bank expensive, venue a few miles out of town. And we opted for that venue’s chicken-and-steak platter. :p
