What is your daily routine or how do/did you manage your daily time for UPSC preparation?

Yes everyone has their own routine and way of studying.Still I can share my routine with you. This is my subject wise planI started up with polity Laxmikanth after reading NCERT of that subject. Then I studied Economics NCERTAfter then Indian History and world history further continuing it with Geography.I didn't join coaching so it took time for completing basic portions of all the subjects.I started up my preparation in September and till January I had covered up this much course. Then I focused on International relations(I would recommend you to do it earlier, since it will help you to understand International News to the core)After this in around mid of march I started preparing for my optional(I was late)I started reading laxmikanth of Pub ad ,few video lectures available online.UGC-NET uploaded videos and suggestions of previous Toppers helped me.Till April I could not finish my whole syllabus of optional but for prelims preparation and revision I started up GS revision topic wise.May and June I revised whole things I did till then.(To be true many things were appearing new)It is highly recommended that you always revise ,revise and revise regularly many times otherwise this will happen.I did not realize the importance of revision earlier and that is, the reason for my pitfall.Although I was regularly revising things I did around January onward. From January I followed a constructive routine. This is my daily routineI prefer studying on day time.Hence ,I use to wake up at 5 am in Summer days and around 6 in winter. Then I go for brisk walk so as to remain fresh whole day with few exercises .I actually start studying at 8 am with news paper reading.Earlier ,it took me 3-4 hours to read news paper and make notes accordingly. So I assigned 8 am -12 noon for newspaper reading.(Later I did reading and jotting down in 2 hours and rest two hours practicing answer writing on questions of INSIGHTS daily writing challenge.)Then after taking a break of 30 minutes I use to study some GS topic .So with few mid breaks 12.30 to 4 was assigned for one subject.(study for an hour and break of 15 minutes)4 pm to 6 pm I assigned for revision of previous day topics.6 pm to 7 pm was full long break . I do whatever I wanted to.7 to 10 pm GS subject 2 .After 10 pm I don't study anything. I prowl internet randomly. Visit sites read anything just like that and go to bed at 11 pm .You can read my answer Varsha Singh's answer to How can I develop an interest in reading newspapers to prepare for the Civil Services Examination?Further more, My blog post with all answers related to UPSC Answers related to UPSCPS: It looks like an ideal plan when you read it but no one can follow it so ideally. Changes occur due to different reasons and circumstances when you do it practically. You have to make plan ,may be you fail in routine many times for some or other reason but you have to manage completing your task anyhow.Planning helps you to know where you are? and make you realize how you should do it.So plan according to you.All the best for preparations.I hope it helps. Thanks for A2A :)

What are reviews of RGIT Mumbai?

This college is for average people with low scores in CET. If you're someone who wants to learn something productive in your 4 years degree, kindly stay away from this substandard shithole. You won't learn anything here. The college has no campus. Zero nada! It's just a small building at the edge of a mangrove swamp near Versova beach. Due to its proximity to sea water, humidity is very high here. Only the auditorium have AC. No classrooms or labs have them. The ventilation is poor, you'll be sitting under heat waves during the day because fans aren't adequate. There are no good eateries around the area and mess food is horrible.Workshop, mechanical labs and xerox center are at the basement, where you won't have proper cellular signal. Vivas are also held here. Most of the times xerox area is crowded. The college demands a very ridiculous, exorbitant fees (1L per annum) for what it offers. You pay 1.38L for DJ Sanghvi instead and get to sit in a central AC college.Faculties are absolute shit here. So far only two teachers in my 2nd year are decent. The college is such that you'll attend lectures to keep 75% compulsory attendance then go back home to self study because the professors don't know how to teach here. Some teachers are very intimidating and rude. If your attendance is anywhere around 60–65% Dr their lecture they'll hold you hostage at the time of submissions, they'll make you write more assignments, make you solve last 5 years MU papers and still stall your submission acceptance. You'll spend two-three days licking their asses, then they'll deduct your internal marks for late submissions. These professors are quite good at taking revenge and asserting their power. They'll fuck up your internals. The curriculum is.... well don't get me started it's MU. Saturdays and Sundays are off. But you have some or the other practicals five days a week. Timings for first year are 830 to 1615. With a 45 minutes break from 1230 to 1315. But some arrogant teachers will continue teaching 20 minutes into the break because they cannot complete their syllabus on time. Vivas start 20 days before the end sem exams. External or internal viva (2/3rd year) they ask you all theoretical questions which you must rote memorize from books. You'll have a month long semester exams. For odd semesters they start in the end of November and go upto 3rd week of December. You hardly get a 7–10 days of winter break before you start with even sems. The even sems start in mid May and go all the way upto 2nd week of June. Then you get 28 days of summer vacation lol. Even private universities provide more vacations than them. So your chances of internships are bleak. The curriculum here and in most MU colleges which are not autonomous revolves around writing many many assignments. Too many! Quantity over quality. Every subject on an average has around 5–6 sometimes even 10 assignments for the semester. You may say that's easy to complete but you'll also have to copy paste practical write-up of 5-10 pages every experiment, tutorials from your handbook to their letterhead pages. You'll spend all your semester writing this and that then get no time for other activities and studies so you'll study in the 5 days gap between end sem papers.Everyday you'll spend writing some unproductive crap which the professors don't bother to verify for plagiarism. Most of the you will spend it copy pasting from Whatsapp forwards from the topper or someone who's done it.The crowd is not really smart, it's majority from Virar side so you can guess the type of crowd here. Even open category people with as low as 80/200 get CS here. The management quota is managed by a person called Nitin who sits to the right side of the basement entrance. He takes about 4.5L donation even if you have 10 marks in CET. Before entering his cabin you'll have to keep all your belongings in a locker to ensure that you don't carry a hidden camera inside.Others who get here come with caste reservation and get CS at even lower scores. They pay 2000–4000 fees per year only. Now you get an idea what kind of people you'll be around. There's no consensus among these students, they'll place their self interest over anyone and bootlick the professors. The administration staff is all Marathi rude people. They delay your work for many days and treat you like shit. Once you come here, you'll realize that your time as a student is not at all valued. You'll have to stand in a long queue for submitting paperwork like exam reg, marksheet collection, reval form, etc.Worse the break time of exam cell is the same as lectures. So you have to bunk lectures and stand for hours to get your work done. Which is really frustrating. You do the paperwork you lose attendance, you go for attendance, you miss out of paperwork deadlines. The faculties discourage you from taking extra curricular activities by openly saying that, not giving you attendance even if you represent the college. There is no coding culture here. The faculty they hire for teaching coding is Mtech people in the same college who got a year drop.Faculties for first year are pathetic, they're changed all the time. They're were not given salary dues for 6 months last year so they vent out anger on our juniors. During the submissions time you'll see people writing something everywhere and professors + HOD humiliating them in front of others and not taking the submissions.Placements.... Well everybody knows its a lie. They show 40 companies come for placements but in reality they're far less, only mass recruiters come here. This year Byju came for giving call center job. This is the case with most of MU colleges except 4.All in all, look where you stand right now. If you're an average person who wants a BE degree just for the sake of it, have low scores, then go ahead and join this college. Else if you want to really learn something, be a real engineer, never come here. There are much better options, go for private universities like Manipal, VIT or colleges outside Mumbai such as NSIT Delhi, LNMIIT or even take admission in NMIMS Mukesh Patel

What is the biggest surprising difference between high school and College?

Yes, College Different than High School? Some Ways, How college is different than high schoolClass TimeHIGH SCHOOL: You spend on average 6 hours each day/30 hours a week in class, proceeding from one class to the next. The school year is 36 weeks long; with a short break in the spring and a long one over the summer.COLLEGE: You spend 12 to 16 hours each week in class, usually with breaks in between. Times are not limited to daylight hours, many classes are offered in the evening. In most cases, the academic year is divided into two 15-week semesters, plus a week after each semester for exams. There is generally a winter break and a spring break, which is followed by exams. The spring semester can conclude in early May.Class SizeHIGH SCHOOL: Classes generally have no more than 35 students and are taught by teachers.COLLEGE: Depending on the size of the college you select, classes may range in size from twenty to hundreds of students.Teaching StyleHIGH SCHOOL: Teachers present material to help you understand the material in the textbook, often writing information on the chalkboard to be copied in your notes.COLLEGE: Professors may lecture nonstop, give you illustrations, provide background information, or discuss research about the topic you are studying. You will be expected to be up-to-date on all assigned readings and be able to summarize it, so good notes are critical.Time ManagementHIGH SCHOOL: Your time is usually structured by others: administrators, teachers, coaches, and of course, parents. Teachers carefully monitor class attendance.COLLEGE: You manage your own time. It’s up to you to get to class, do your lab work, and study. Professors may not formally take roll, but they are still likely to know whether or not you attended, especially at smaller colleges where they will get to know you.HomeworkHIGH SCHOOL: You will usually be told what you need to learn from assigned readings and teachers will remind you of assignments and due dates. They will check your completed homework.COLLEGE: Professors expect you to utilize the course syllabus (outline); which spells out exactly what is expected of you, when it is due and how you will be graded. It's up to you to read and understand the assigned material; lectures and assignments are based on the assumption that you've already done so. Professors may not always check completed homework, but they will assume you can perform the same tasks on tests.AssistanceHIGH SCHOOL: Teachers will approach you if they believe you need assistance.COLLEGE: Professors are usually open and helpful, but expect and want you to attend their scheduled office hours if you need assistance.StudyingHIGH SCHOOL: You are expected to read short assignments that are then discussed in class. You may study outside of class as little as 2 hours a week, and this may be mostly test preparationCOLLEGE: You are assigned substantial amounts of reading and writing which may not be discussed in class. You need to study at least 2 to 3 hours outside of class for each hour in class to keep up with the coursework.TestingHIGH SCHOOL: Testing is frequent and covers small amounts of material. Teachers frequently conduct review sessions, pointing out the most important concepts. If you miss the test, makeup tests are often available.COLLEGE: Testing is infrequent (a particular course may have only 2 or 3 tests in a semester) and may cover large amounts of material. You are expected to organize the material to prepare for the test. Professors rarely offer review sessions, and when they do, expect you to come prepared with questions. Makeup tests are rarely an option; on exam day you need to be prepared and on time.GradingHIGH SCHOOL: Good grades are based on the ability to comprehend what you were taught in the form in which it was presented to you, or to solve the types of problems you were taught how to solveCOLLEGE: Good grades are based on your ability to apply what you've learned to new situations or to solve new kinds of problems. You must do well consistently: grades on tests and papers usually provide most of the course grade.ExpensesHIGH SCHOOL: In most cases, almost all of your living expenses are paid for. Your textbooks are likely provided at little or no expense and you are not required to own a computer.COLLEGE: If you live on campus, you will need to pay for housing and dining in advance of each semester. You will need to budget substantial funds for textbooks, which will likely cost at least $200 each semester. Most colleges require each student to have a computer, which can often be purchased through them at a reduced price. You will need money to meet basic necessities, so be prepared!ResponsibilitiesHIGH SCHOOL: Parents and teachers will remind you what your responsibilities are and guide you in setting priorities. You will no doubt be corrected if your behavior is out of line.COLLEGE: You're now responsible for what you do and don't do, as well as for the consequences of your decisions.
