Hello Anon,I would like to ask a couple of questions of you first:Are you absolutely sure you want to take English honours?Do you think that you will be able to make the cut-offs to the top DU colleges?Have you received an offer from Ashoka University yet?Taking the first question, if your answer is no, then Ashoka University is a better bet, because our programme is based on the Liberal Arts model, where you are given a flavour of all subject areas and disciplines. More importantly, you are given the time to decide your choice of major or specialisation, which Delhi University asks you to make fresh out of school.This brings me to a case where you have answered affirmatively to the first question, of whether you make the cut-offs to the top DU colleges. As everybody in this country may know, the biggest difficulty of the Indian education system is not that the quality provided is poor across the board, but that the number of seats in the quality institutions are EXTREMELY limited. This is even more so for colleges offering courses in the humanities and social sciences, where the popular belief is that your choice begins and ends at the top DU colleges. Of course, the standard provided by Stephens, LSR, Miranda, Hansraj, Hindu, Venky and a handful of other colleges is very high, but this is limited to people with extremely high grades, often exceeding 97/98%, and in some cases not being attainable without reservations. Although it is true that Ashoka has an average batch grade of around 91% in the Founding Undergraduate Class, the deviation ranges from marks in the mid-60s to the high 90s. Unlike DU however, Ashoka judges their applicants on a holistic basis, considering a long-term academic profile (results from 9th-12th and co-curricular involvement in school), a profile of your extra-curricular interests and talents, and finally, the degree of ease with which you answer tough problems put before you and the skill with which you communicate this to the target audience. Apart from the comprehensive application form, the interview process also plays a major role in ensuring students' competence for the Ashoka experience. So, the answer to the second question may be yes/no, but the hope is that you will get an equally good, if not better quality of education at Ashoka. There support proactively contacted me before the problem. This is the true definition of good support. I requested my product key and received an email saying I already hit my 2 pc limit. I explained I was reinstalling windows. They reset my key and I’m good to go.
