PDF Editor FAQ

Which country is better: China or the USA?

1: If I say “Fu*k Donald Trump!” Nothing will happen to me on the legal side. If I say “Fu*k Xi Jinping!” I could be arrested and sentenced to prison for “Inciting subversion of the state” and “Political Hooliganism”.2: LGBTQ people can get married, have all the same rights (legally) and can adopt children, while in China; they don’t recognize same sex marriages, and legally don’t have any discrimination protections.3: The average American will make $60,000 dollars a year for 40> hours a week of work, while the average Chinese man will make $9,700 dollars a year for 90 hours of work a week.4: Average American house size is 2,700 square feet while average Chinese home is 642 square feet.5: Overall you are 3% more likely to be murdered in China over the USA. 4x more likely to have your personal information stolen in China over the USA. In China officials are 80% more likely to be corrupt. For any crime you are 11x more likely to be sentenced to execution over the USA. If I am married to you and rape you, no crime is committed in China.6: You have disposable income.7: The government of China has a person credit system. Where if you insult someone or are basically an as*hole of a person but never commit any crimes, then you might be denied bank loans, plane tickets, hotel rooms, or possibly being denied the ability to leave the nation. In the USA you can talk however you like.8: In the US I can have more than 2 kids while in China I could be forced to put my 3rd child up for adoption.9: You have a lot more personal freedoms such as the ability to free speech, freedom of the press, freedom of assembly, ability to vote high up people, and the ability to change governments while in China, if you attempt to change the governments main party, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), they will use the military to defend themselves. Technically the People’s Republic of China doesn’t have a military, the People’s Liberation Army is just the armed wing of the CCP.10: Because it’s the United States of America, and America isn’t perfect but we are better than most. The United States is based on an experiment. No country at the time had the same rights as America, and the US is the only nation since its inception in 1776 to not undergo a significant government change or constitution change. Shouldn’t that say something? The fact that it’s been 242 years and we haven’t had a change to government. Our constitution states “in order to form a more perfect union.” The US, as said before, is not perfect, but no country is. America strives to be a better nation. America isn’t a people; it’s an idea. The idea that everyone is created equal, and that we all deserve life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It should say something about what America truly is. We strive to be timeless, and better in every way.

Do Germans hate Americans?

I am German and I ask myself this question a lot of times. I think it boils down to a few main social groups. The ex-Communists.This was just a few year prior to the end of the GDR. Many of the people in that picture are alive and had family. Many of them were avid socialists / communists and so far accepted they lost but do not like it. For them, America was an enemy for a long time, they were mainly exposed to the bad side of America. Government told them America is a racist backward country exploiting workers and is war mongering. This lingers on in their perception of America. You don’t start to love the enemy who beat you in your war of ideologies. The Linke (Left party) currently has sway over some 8–10% of the German electorate. We talk about a sizeable number of people. The Russo-Germans:People do not realise or tend to forget that Germans have had a huge diaspora for centuries, including millions of people of German descent in Russia. Those people were allowed into the country in the 90s and while ethnic Germans, they brought the decades of Soviet and Russian propaganda with them. They also tend to be more conservative and a lot of them liked Trump but they are sceptical of America. Germany is not a country that has an easy time with integration of people and many Russogermans identify more with their Russian heritage than with their German one where they currently live. Most don’t speak Russian or have no desire to move there but they feel more represented by Putin than by Merkel. The refugee crisis made them feel unwelcomed and underappreciated (nobody gave them such a welcome in their opinion which was arguably not true) and the heightened tensions with Russia in 2014 made them primarily side with Russia. We talk about a further 2–4 million people. The right. The right-wing in Germany largely consists of right-wing conservatives (who hate Obama, Kamala Harris, Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi) and Neonazis, who hate all Americans. They have little problem with Trump though but with the democrats at reign in Washington DC, they are not happy that liberals occupy the government of one of the most influential countries in the world.Russia also sponsors a lot of activities of such protest parties in Europe. And you don’t bite the hand that feeds you. They get positive media coverage in news stations like RT which further forces them into Russian influence.Hence you see another huge aspect of the population (10–15%) being Anti-American.Muslims: Germany houses a sizeable muslim population and many of them do not hold a good opinion on the US. Whether that is justified or not, this obviously impacts the American ratings.HippiesNow, you have to understand that Germans tend to be way more liberal than America at large. This means more stringent economic rules, higher taxation, a largely regulated healthcare system, higher environmental standards, societal acceptance of LGBQT, gay marriage, abortion et cetera is way bigger in Germany….As such, the culture wars in America are largely not understood in Germany. Germans often forget that Americans are way, way more conservative then we are and that religion is way more important to the average American than to the average German. So making abortions impossible in states like Kentucky is not understood here at all and seen as an attack on womens’ rights. This creates negative press with the German society. (This is just an example). And lastly, Germans think that American foreign policy in the last decades has been too militaristic, too inconsequential for America and not thought-through enough. Starting with the Vietnam war, Germans were beginning to question the moral reasoning why so many bombs were dropped on a country to support an artificial state which did not improve the lives of their citizens and was a family-autocracy. TV pictures of atrocities and the ever increasing amount of nukes made Germans acutely remember WW2. And bam, the peace protests formed. Then we had 9/11 and that was the big deal. Germany went into Afghanistan as per NATO requirement, breaking the German constitution and which was deeply unpopular and still is. Frankly, we never intended to stay for 20 odd years. There are people serving in Afghanistan who weren’t even born back then!Iraq however, we did not join and Americans took no liking to this. It lead to our Chancellor becoming a top target for the NSA and questions about our reliability were raised, because we didn’t want to join this disaster. Thank God we did not. With Obama we thought you got some sanity back into the White House and I blame the German media for projection of their wishes on him. Obama was not a liberal. Obama was a centrist but someone who could plausibly personify change. The German reluctance for the Libya adventure was another blow to the relations. But Germans got really pissed when the NSA scandal became public. Germans with their historic experiences of total surveillance did not react kindly to being a top target. It wasn’t just politicians. Reportedly German companies were spied out and ordinary Germans were targeted for their data. That raised a lot of fears of surveillance. Then Trump came and Trump did nothing to hide his disdain from Germany. Apparently we are an enemy. Now I know Germans did not love him back but he was the President. I would expect at least that he tried to get a working relationship with the German politicians but he never wanted that. He wasn’t a professional but was more concerned with power plays. He made Richard Grenell ambassador. That guy was a joke and more concerned with TV appearances on Fox than with the hard work of diplomacy. He made threats into our direction, he unilaterally made decisions that would have far more impact onto Europeans than Americans without consulting us.The US are also in many ways a dystopian society for the average German. Inequality, racism, inefficient healthcare system, climate change deniers and a culture war that makes our infighting look like a college girl pillow fight.Frankly, for many Germans, America did not present itself in an attractive fashion in the past decades. Maybe now again? Right now we are positively jealous with your vaccination campaign. In the end, a large minority of Germans are very critical of America. Another portion like me have somewhat critical positions of America but recognise that the presence of America is wanted, needed and largely positive.

How does the world view President Trump's base?

Please take a moment to read this as I too have been mystified by Trump’s supporters, have spent years painstakingly speaking to them and finally figured out who they are, what is happening and how the world views them. I don’t mock them, I respect their chance to let them speak for themselves revealing exactly what they are doing and why.Let’s start from the beginning:“Trump’s” base is not just his ‘base’, he is them, he is their avatar, for many they practically worship him. That may or may not sound ridiculous depending on your point of view, but for millions of Trump supporters; They see in Trump everything they always wanted. They do not care about his past. I cannot tell you how many times I have been told that it is what he is doing now that counts, his past means nothing. 95% of his base will never leave him, NEVER.I, and countless others have been threatened on almost a daily basis for even questioning why one would not support Trump 100% all the time every day. And I mean I have been threatened with violence in all forms. They are angry and frustrated and cannot understand why no one gets it. They completely believe everything that Fox news and other right wing sources tell them. They have no respect whatsoever for the other side. Now we can take a look at how does the world view Trump’s base. Before you read the following I am an Australian-American, my bio is well known, 45 of my 70 years outside the USA in; China, Australia, India, Nepal, Hong Kong, Singapore, the Philippines and Vietnam (lived in each of those at least 3 years some up to 15). So I speak to people outside the USA in all of the countries above plus Europe, the Middle East and South America on a regular basis. This is what they tell me:They see them as in no particular order; Bigoted, racist, gun fanatics, beyond unreasonable, having no interest in community or others besides themselves. They see a group that terrifies them, makes them wonder if they should ever visit America. They cannot understand their ‘brand’ of Christianity as it appears to be caught in racist ideologies that cuts out anyone that is not exactly like them. In fact, many see Trump’s Christianity as a kind of ‘cult’ that is not really Christianity at all. They see all the bad TV series coming to life about para military scrawny or fat white guys with AR15s threatening to bring down the government. They see gross women shouting and writing on their own bodies that Trump can do anything they want to them its ok.They watch in fascinated horror as parody after parody asks basic questions to Trump supporters at his rallies that show their ignorance and total disregard for logic or facts. They wonder if Trump gets reelected can they ever trust the USA again. They think what happened to the so called ‘greatest country’ in the world. They hear about QANON and hope that this despicable cult does not infect their country. They wonder how did they ever follow this type of America, is there something wrong with them, why didn’t they get it. What is going on?They are going through all the various stages of denial, then anger, then sadness, then pity and finally what they believe is a grudging acceptance that whatever America was, it is no longer the same.In short, 9 out of 10 people outside of America view Trump supporters as deluded out of control white nationalists with no regard for anyone but themselves. People who are so off that they would rather lose their rights than let anyone else have any rights to the point where their following of Trump has meant thousands of them have unnecessarily died by not wearing masks for instance thus passing CV19 to other thousands and hundreds of thousands and now millions. In conclusion, Trump’s base has almost no admirers outside the USA other than some small fringe ‘rights’ groups that you can find in any society.Trump has done something that no one thought was possible. He has taken a carefully developed 250 year philosophy, perhaps real perhaps exaggerated and completely shattered it with the gleeful support and adoration of a millions of people that the rest of the world find frightening. They feel it is up to America with it’s election to either show them there is another more powerful presence, a completely different approach to life and group and a return to the philosophy of American leadership and exceptionalism or that Trump’s base will be the America that they will have to learn to live with for a long time to come.
