Not ( as one commenter repeatedly tried to make it about) New Age Travellers, Romany Gypsies, OAPs in campers or any other nomadic lifestyle. Shouldn't have to explain but I'm experiencing snowflakes in late August - it must be climate change.It's mainly due to all the negative interactions a significant minority have with the ordinary person. Having said that I don't think they give a toss what ordinary people think of them.I used to work part-time as a delivery driver for a takeaway and the local traveller camp was one of the customers. Was. After a meeting amongst the drivers we all told the owner we would not -under any circumstances - deliver to them anymore. From stealing items from the box and claiming they weren't there ( we used to triple check their orders), refusing to pay the full bill, often accompanied by threats, trying to pass forged notes and threatening any refusal, getting their kids to rob the delivery car while the driver is at the door and a dozen other things including stoning the delivery car on its way out, all of us had taken a gut full of their behaviour. The owner wasn't surprised or resistant to the decision, he'd tried speaking with the community 'leaders' several times. The final straw was when a driver had his back windscreen smashed while he was at the door by kids who laughed at him while adults looked on in tacit approval.Every group has its scum, the travelling community seems to have more than it's fair share. Looking how the kids are allowed to roam feral it doesn't surprise.Of course when they couldn't get any food delivered we became a bunch of racist bigots. That's despite the fact that the owners were Asian and we delivered to anyone who behaved decently. I also personally believe that anyone has the right to the lifestyle of their choice so long as they don't hurt other by their choices. It's a pity the travellers don't.

It is absolutely part of the scientific method to question things, when you have good reason to.Longstanding models of the universe that have worked well for a long time are not immune to that spirit of challenge. Indeed, proving that one of these things is inaccurate or incomplete is the stuff a Nobel is made from.But you better bring your A game. If you're going to dispute something like the Earth being round, you are going to have to explain how the mountains of evidence in favor of it (e.g., photos from space and the Moon, circumpolar aircraft routes, and even the easily observable “sink below the horizon" effect watching a ship from a beach) are all wrong. And that doesn't mean handwaving and “It's all a big CONSPEEEERASEEEEE!”, it means you'd better have solid, unimpeachable empirical evidence of your own, backed by painstakingly detailed descriptions of your methods and your math.Otherwise, you are a crank, and there's just not enough time for that. You are allowed to say, for example, that Isaac Newton was wrong. Einstein in fact did, and he was right. But he took the time, did the math, and then double and triple checked it. He didn't just say “Eh, this Newton guy, what's he know anyway?”So, by all means, put that level of effort into studying the shape of the Earth. Follow the evidence where it leads, don't cherry pick a few things. Do the math. Do the hard parts. Shouting at well known scientists proves some things about you, but not a thing about what you assert.
