Party Invitation Instructions: Fill & Download for Free

My son recently had a birthday and we also specified no gifts. I truly didn't want any gifts. Firstly he goes to a school that has a fairly high number of children on free lunch and I didn't want anyone to feel like they couldn't come empty handed. Secondly we try to emphasize less materialism at home, I dislike the clutter from most gifts that he only plays with for a week and collects dust, and also he has sort of unique taste in toys so half the time he isn't terribly interested. We did have a few guests bring something anyway so I quietly thanked them and put them in an inconspicuous storage bin we had brought his other party supplies in (it was at a park) so as not to make anyone feel self conscious. I think next year I'll request cards so it's clear that gifts truly aren't necessary but different cultures have different ideas about what's expected of them at parties and there's no use trying to force a situation when everyone means well. I've never had a situation like other commenters where it said no gift but it was really an underhanded power play, that's truly bizarre and passive aggressive but I do think there are ways to minimize discomfort from guests who followed the invitation instructions when other guests don't. Namely, putting gifts out of sight and saving opening or thanks for thank you cards.

However, the following set of possible events come closest to what was shown in the movie Nayak:The CM resigns, and this leads to a resignation (fall?) of the government.The majority party elects the other person (Anil Kapoor in the movie) to be the next CM and forwards the proposal to the Governor.The above mentioned procedure of invitation to form the government, selection of Ministers and taking of oath follows after which the odd guy becomes the new CM.(After one day) The previous CM (Ambreesh Puri in the movie) cannot come back and simply ask this new CM to vacate his office. The ex-CM is nothing more than a normal MLA now, he cannot give instructions to the incumbent CM. Nevertheless, if the new CM isn't in the mood to vacate his seat, the ex-CM may ask the MLAs of his party to initiate a Motion of no confidence in the Legislative Assembly (i.e. a voting be conducted in the LA to prove that the current CM doesn't enjoy the majority support in the House). Once the Motion has passed the CM (Anil Kapoor) has to resign and the majority party repeats steps 2 and 3 with the previous CM (Ambreesh Puri).Never take bollywood movies seriously.
