Call Center Antics:==========Customer calls in, says he's having problems installing his router.Okay, what step?Hold on, let me pull it out of the box.Unwraps box.Okay, step one. Got it.Walks himself through the whole thing using the instructions.Is there anything wlse we can help you with?No, this was the best customer service ever.I'll be sure to pass that on to the people who wrote the instructions.The tech said 8 words after the customer unwrapped the box, before completing the call -- "Yes" confirming each of the 8 steps when the customer asked as he walked himself through.... I gave the tech 100% for his patience. (Debated docking him for possibly pissing the customer off at the end of the call.)==========Customer calls in with problems installing his router.Dude tried to forcably screw his cable connection into an ethernet port.Screwed up his cable connection pretty bad, too.Customer beyond pissed.Tech took the time to walk him through effectively repairing the cable line with a knife and pliers, whole slice and dice re-crimp procedure w/out cable line crimpers (including how to handle the woven metal sheath).Then took the time to do the RMA.Customer was not angry, but just okay at the end of the call.I was just amazed and stunned.Not our problem, do the RMA, get the customer off the phone...Tech provides the best service ever,AND I learned how to repair a cable line without crimpers, re-using the originally crimped end..Just awesome.==========Customer calls in late at night.QA call audit on a n00b.Tell him to transfer the call to me.Me: "Hey James, please don't mess with the new techs."J: "How'd you know it was me!!!"Me: "You're logged into MY IRC channel talking to the other guys... who's the only mod in the room?"J: "... Russell #2 (customer) says: "That's a nice piece of shit rice rocket you drove up in; did you pay $24.95 to get it to sound like that?" Ben gets uppity: "Who the fuck are you?" Without skipping a beat, Russell #1 (tech) introduces them, "Ben, I'd like you to meet Russell." Ben looks blank and confused (memory jogged, but couldn't place it). Russell #2 says: "What did I tell you the other day? Learn some manners. Now: Shut the fuck up and go fuck yourself. Don't you have some work to do?" Ben's eyes lit up, then he slinked inside.Whole thing was priceless. Apparently Russell #2 gave the tech, Russell #1, a sum of money for helping him.
