PDF Editor FAQ

What are the funniest things you have come across when it comes to a paper correction in any of the exams at BITS Pilani?

I am from 2010 batch at goa campus and I did few funny things which were well responded by the teachers. This was something I did in my 2-2 at SPM comprehensive exam.I had not attended any SPM class except the first one, and so I knew nothing. I tried to solve but after 15 minutes I had nothing more to write. I was already so pissed off with the subject and the system. So I decided to write a note to "whomsoever it may concern", crossed it and wrote in big bold letters, "DO NOT READ". I obviously knew that the teachers are not going to miss reading this. And well, the instructor, whose name I don't remember, responded quite well. The following is the photograph. (Please pardon my not so good English)What I wrote:DO NOT READ, from the inside of a CS studentI do not know why this course (SPM) is put into curriculum of CS students. When mech and chemical students are not supposed to study CS courses then why this unfairness with us. After two years, when we'll complete our graduation, I guess none of us are going to remember a single line studied in this course. And it's not only about this course, this is for all such courses (which includes MT too). Now we are towards 2nd year completion and all we know about CS (programming) is very less as compared to other guys in colleges over India. This course has also been removed from curriculum of the next batch (2011) which means it's not required, but still we have it. I am not complaining, or might be, but its just the frustration which got accumulated in my mind studying this subject over pas few days. One more thing, this exam should have been made open book because what I think is that if this course it meant to be understood and not just memorize all and put all that in the answer sheet. I don't know but this is what people do, copy in mind and then paste in answer sheet. So, this becomes all about getting marks (which I also tried, but was never so successful) and getting a good CGPA (again, I don't have it yet). Ultimately I don't see any outcome of this course to me.Feeling somewhat better after writing that down. :)Thanks for not reading it :)Goodbye to this course.Teacher's Response (He also crossed on whatever he wrote):Dear Student,As you know this course has been removed for the next batches, why then are you writing this much?Concentrate on your studies. Do not waste your time writing this. If you know hindi, why did you study hindi in school. Why many CS, Electronics students scored more than 80-90% marks in SPM! Most of the questions of SPM, in this paper, you have got zero/one marks. We will see your performance in CS career and subjects in following years. We have noted your roll no! And personal opinion only. All the best!Luckily, I scored 2 marks in this paper, plus 9 marks in objective part and happily ended up with a D grade.---------------------------Another was this one, which I wrote in my first year in Bio T1 (as much as I remember)Q: The transition of your neighbour's lawn from a uniform lawn of grass to one that is now crowded with tall is called?A: Ignorance of neighbour for his lawnQ: The site where RNA polymerase attaches to the DNA molecule to start transcription is called?A: www.RNA-DNA.comQ: This part of Aerobic respiration produces the greatest amount of ATP ____.A: Hmmmm....Q2b: <Something about Cock-fights>Answer begins with: LOL Qn BTWQ: When meat is salted bacteria can not grow on it. Suggest a reason for this.A: Perhaps bacteria don't like salted meat. Well, I'm a veggie so I've no idea how it tastes like. :)Teacher's response: Doesn't matter to answer the Qn.---------------------------Another one was when I was my in third year, It was OS T1 exam. Biju sir made a exam paper which only had descriptive question and no problem solving or logic based questions. After my last answer I wrote:I did not expect this kind of paper from you, sir.Sir replied:Dear, I did not expect such answers from you.(Sadly I lost the paper somewhere so I do not have a photograph)

Have any of your teachers allowed you to cheat on an exam?

Instead of printing out the formula sheet or writing them on the board, my teacher said we could use our electronic devices to look them up. Most students scored very well on that test..
