How do I voice my support for Donald Trump without being mocked by others?

Donald Trump is attempting to be elected to what is arguably the most powerful, consequential and complex job in the world. The President has enormous impact on the lives and fortunes of 320 million Americans and substantial impact of the lives of all seven billion people on the planet.Mr. Trump has demonstrated repeatedly that he has little to no knowledge of foreign policy, military policy, education policy, energy policy, healthcare and insurance, science and technology, or even such simple matters as how the branches of our government work together. He has indicated he has no interest in learning, and he will simply solve all problems through his personal "greatness".Mr. Trump has voiced his admiration for political thugs, dictators and terrorists around the world. He has mused and made jokes about how he would like to murder various American citizens that he says he hates. He has repeatedly said that he does not see a problem with people comparing him to Adolf Hitler. You say you support Mr. Trump because he is the "wild card" we need. The President of the United States holds the lives and the welfare of every human being on the planet in his hands every day he is in office. If you believe that we need a "wild card" in this position, then you have not given this important decision the consideration it deserves.I think that you will need to grow accustomed to being mocked until you become more serious about your reasons for wanting to support a candidate for President.

If the whole purpose of the IAS was to serve people, then why do some people choose the IAS and not NGOs?

I feel I must answer this question! Few years ago, I was a motivated engineer who wanted to contribute, in my own small way, towards the welfare of society. I lived in Char Imli colony Bhopal which is very near to Panchsheel slum ( largest slum in Bhopal). Therefore, during my evening walks I often met small children from the area. During my Interactions with them, They told me about their experience at school. Their teachers often missed school. They couldn't read their books.Hence, I felt I must do something to improve the quality of education they recieved. So in 2013, I and my few friends found an N.G.O. Called S.E.E.D.O. Eventually we had a network of 45 volunteers working with 150 slum children. We interacted with the kids every weekend, helping them with their schoolwork, conducting workshops etc. The experience was deeply satisfying. My experience at SEEDO helped me understand the ground realities of education in India. I could see how the government had all the right schemes but the implementation was not up to the mark. I eagerly wanted to reach out to more and more children. I felt my scale of operation and the impact of my work was limited. I could only volunteer and employ the limited resources that I had. I felt there is a need to work from within the government to make the system better. I felt IAS will give me a platform to make policies, improve its implementation and make structural transformations. With this motivation I started studying for UPSC in 2015 and finally cleared the exam in 2017. I am really excited about this opportunity I have now and hope to make the best of it. I have met many NGO workers who are deeply motivated to work for our country. I would love to see more NGO workers like me making this leap- from social worker to IAS! All the best :)

Donald Trump wants things to be back to normal by Easter. Is this going to be a safe time to resume life as it was prior to this pandemic?

Simple: because his bid for re-election is dependent on a booming economy, and a Coronavirus-damaged economy undermines his rationale for re-election.Trump wants everything back to normal as quickly as possible so as to limit the damage to the US economy. Of course, if a few thousand+ people need to die to make that happen, well, what difference does it make to him? It's particularly worth noting that the areas most-heavily affected by the Coronavirus are the more densely-populated urban zones that tend to vote Democratic. The rural communities more likely to vote for Trump have been less impacted by the virus but are more likely to suffer long-term economic damage the longer this drags on.Be clear: it's got nothing to do with the welfare of the American people, or even the economy itself. It's all about Trump and his bid to be re-elected.
