PDF Editor FAQ
Is the Bhavisya puran interpolated as many People claim?
Note : This is a detailed answer . Please read it completely .No , Bhavishya Puran isnt interpolated .Those who claim Bhavishya Puran is interpolated can't digest the powers of our Sages .Let me give you many proofs :Let's first see the correct translation . The translation by Zakir Naik and his chelas are distorted to so much extent that anyone who know any basic sanskrit will laugh at them .Translation :To set the scene, in this section of the Bhavishya Purana, Shri Suta Gosvami first explained that previously, in the dynasty of King Shalivahana, there were ten kings who went to the heavenly planets after ruling for over 500 years. [This gives these kings roughly 50 years of rule for each one.] Then gradually the morality declined on the planet. At that time, Bhojaraja was the tenth of the kings on the earth [who would have ruled about 450 years after King Shalivahana]. When he saw that the moral law of conduct was declining, he went to conquer all the directions of his country with ten-thousand soldiers commanded by Kalidasa. He crossed the river Sindhu [modern Indus River] going northward and conquered over the gandharas [the area of Afghanistan], mlecchas [present-day region of Turkey], shakas, Kashmiris [Kashmir and present-day Pakistan], naravas, and sathas. Crossing the Sindhu, he conquered the mlecchas in Gandhar and the shaths in Kashmir. King Bhoj grabbed their treasure and then punished them. Then, as verses 7-8 relate, the Aryan King Bhojaraja, who had already left India for the lands across the Sindhu River and to the west, meets Mahamada [ Mohammed], the preceptor of the mleccha-dharma [religion of the mlecchas], who had arrived with his followers. Thereafter, however, the King went to worship the image of Lord Mahadev, the great god Shiva, situated in the marusthal, desert. King Bhoj bathed the image of Shiva with Ganges water and worshiped him in his mind with panchagavya (the five purificatory elements from the cow, consisting of milk, ghee, yogurt, cow dung, and cow urine), along with sandalwood paste, etc., and offered him, the image of Shiva, sincere prayers and devotion. King Bhoj prayed to Lord Mahadev, "O Girijanath who stays in the marusthal (land of deserts), I offer my prayers to you. You have forced maya [the illusory energy] to destroy Tripurasur [the demon Tripura]; but the mlecchas are now worshiping you. You are pure and sat-chit-anand swaroop [eternal knowledge and bliss]. I am your sevak [servant]. I have come under your protection."Verses 10-27 relates next that Suta Goswami explained: After hearing the king’s prayers and being pleased with him, Lord Shiva said: "Let the King go to Mahakakkeshwar ( Meccashwar) in the land of Vahika, which is now contaminated by mlecchas. O King, the land where you are standing, that is popular by the name of Bahik, has been polluted by the mlecchas. In that terrible country there no longer exists Dharma. There was a mystic demon named Tripura (Tripurasura), whom I have already burnt to ashes once before, he has come again by the order of Bali. He has no origin but he achieved a benediction from me. His name is Mahamada and his deeds are like that of a ghost. Therefore, O king, you should not go to this land of the evil ghost. By my mercy your intelligence will be purified." [This would seem to indicate that this Mahamada was an incarnation of the demon Tripura.] So hearing this, the king came back to his country and Mahamada came with them, but only to the bank of the river Sindhu. He was expert in expanding illusion, so he said to the king very pleasingly, "O great king, your god has become my servant. Just see, as he eats my remnants, so I will show you."The king became surprised when he saw this happening before them. Then in anger Kalidasa, the king’s commander, rebuked Mahamada, "O rascal, you have created an illusion to bewilder the king, I will kill you, you are the lowest..." Then the king left that area.Later, in the form of a ghostly presence, the expert illusionist Mahamada appeared at night in front of King Bhojaraja and said: "O King, your religion is of course known as the best religion among all. Still, by the order of the Lord, I am going to establish a terrible and demoniac religion and enforce a strong creed over the meat-eaters [mlecchas]. My followers will be known by their cut [circumcised] genitals, they will have no shikha [tuft of hair on their head, like Brahmanas], but will have a beard, make noise loudly, and eat all kinds of animals except swine without observing any rituals. They will perform purificatory acts with the musala, and thus be called musalman, and not purify their things with kusha grass [one of the Vedic customs]. Thus, I will be the originator of this adharmic [opposed to Vedic or Aryan Dharma] and demoniac religion of the meat-eating nations." After having heard all this, the Bhavishya Purana goes on to relate that King Bhojaraja returned to his land and palace, and that ghost of the man also went back to his own place. It is lastly described how the intelligent king, Bhojaraja, established the language of Sanskrit amongst the three varnas -- the Brahmanas, Kshatriyas and Vaisyas -- and for the Shudras he established prakrita-bhasha, the ordinary language spoken by common men. After ruling his kingdom for another 50 years, he went to the heavenly planets. The moral laws established by him were honored even by the demigods. The arya-varta, the pious land is situated between Vindhyachala and Himachala, or the mountains known as Vindhya and Himalaya. The Aryans reside there, but the varna-sankaras reside on the lower part of Vindhya. The musalman people were kept on the other [northwestern] side of the river Sindhu. Now people those who claim Bhavishya Puran was interpolated by Britishers should see Shiva Puran what is mentioned of Tripurasura in it .The story of creating new Dharma, which is against Vedic Dharma, to destroy virtuousness of asuras, was mentioned in Chapter 4 to 10 of Rudrasamhita - Yuddhakanda section of Shiva Purana ( Pg:820-846).For causing obstacles in their virtuous activities, Vishnu of great brilliance, created a PURUSHA born of himself. He had a shaven head, wore dirty clothes, held a woven wicker vessel in his hand and a roll of cotton in his hand when he shook at every step. His hands tucking at the cloth were weak. His face was pale and weak. In a faltering voice he was muttering "Dharma,Dharma".Vishnu said,"O intelligent one , born of me,you are certainly identical with me in form.Know why you have been created. I shall tell you. You are born of me. You can perform my given task. You are my own. Certainly you will be worthy of worship. Let your name be Arihat. You will have other auspicious names too. I shall assign to you a place afterwards. O you who wield Maya , create a deceptive sacred text of 16,00,000 verses contrary to Srutis and Smritis, wherein Varnas and Aasramas shall be eschewed .Let the holy text be in Aprabrahmsa Language. Let there be emphasis on actions. O you with shaven head, you shall go to city of Tripuras, reveal the Tasmik acts and destroy the three cities. After that, O mighty one you shall go the desert stay there carrying your own duties and activities till advent of Kali Yuga. At my bidding your cult shall certainly expand."Saying this Vishnu vanished. Then the ascetic of shaven head acting in accordance with Vishnu's behest created four disciples of like form as himself and taught them the deceptive cult.the ascetic of shaven head acting in accordance with Vishnu's behest created four disciples of like form as himself and taught them the deceptive cult. Those Shaven heads then went to City of Tripuras and taught this deceptive cult. When Asuras stopped worshipping Shiva, Shiva killed them. After kneeling down before Gods, tonsured heads ask Gods" where shall we go?"Vishnu and other gods said,While the celebrations were going on, the shaven-heads religious teachers arrived. "What are we supposed to do now?" they asked.Brahma and Vishnu told them to go the desert where there are no humans. The last of the four eras was kaliyuga and in kaliyuga, evil would reign supreme. When kaliyuga arrived, they were to come back and begin their teaching afresh as Companions of the Prophet. And once they reached at their peak god will take rebirth and will wipe them from earth and once again the world will be free from all kinds of demons. Now this indicates the origin of Jainism or maybe Islam , chances are less . It indicates mostly Jainism as Arihat is mentioned .Why I wrote this is that anti Vedic religions are made to delude Asuras with order of Lord Vishnu .Now let's see this verse :There was a mystic demon named Tripura (Tripurasura), whom I have already burnt to ashes once before, he has come again by the order of BaliLord Shiva is telling this to the King that by order of Bali Maharaja he has come again .Now who is Bali ?Mahabali (IAST: Mahābalī), also known as Bali or Māveli, is a daitya King found in Hindu texts. He was the son of Virochana and the grandson of Prahlada.Notice he is “Daitya King” . King of demons . Where does he live ? In Hinduism there are 14 Lokas , 7 heavens ( Bhuvarloka to Vaikuntha ) and 7 earth like planes ( Dimensions ) one below other exactly as mentioned in Quran .King Bali lives in Sutal loka which is one of the neither planets . His Guru is Shukracharya . Shukracharya has the power to resurrect dead people that is know as “Mrit Sanjeevni Mahavidya” . Quran says , dead people would be resurrected at Qayamat .I am not saying Allah is Shukracharya or King Bali . Just writing what is in scriptures .Shukracharya is very popular for creating anti Vedic religions .Can you connect the dots ??Now let's see the refutation for people who claim the prophecy of Britishers coming in India , etc are interpolated .Now who are Gurundas ? Bhavishya Puran itself clears it .Suta Goswami said: “At the present time, the Kali-yuga has already passed its 3000 years. Now the king Sankha is ruling the earth and in the mleccha countries the king named Sakapat is ruling. Please hear about how they came up."When the Kali-yuga passed 2000 years, the dynasty of mlecchas increased. They created many paths to grow and gradually the whole earth become full of mlecchas. The spiritual master and teacher of the mlecchas was named Musa (Moses ) . He was residing on the bank of the river Sarasvati, and he spread his doctrince throughout the whole world. As soon as Kali-yuga started, the devotion to the Lord and the language of the Vedas were destroyed. There are four kinds of mleccha languages: Vraja-bhasa, Maharastri, Yavani and Garundika. In this way there are four million kinds of other languages. For example: paniyam (water) is called pani, bubhuksa-hunger is called bhukh. Paniyam-drinking is called papadi and bhojanam-eating si called kakkanam. Isti is called suddharava, istini is called masapavani, ahuti is called aju and dadati is called dadhati. The word pitri is called paitara and bhrata is bather and also pati. This is the yavani lanugage in which the asva is called aspa, Janu is jainu and sapta-sindhu is called sapta-hindu. Sindhu became Hindu .Now you hear about Gurundika language. Ravi-vara (the first day of the week) is called sunday, phalguna and chaitra months are called pharvari (February). Sasti is called sixty, these kinds of examples are there.Crime is becoming prominent in the holy place of Sapta-puri. Gradually the people of Aryavata are becoming theives, hunters, bhillas and fools. The followers of mleccha-dharma in foreign countries are intelligent and having good qualities, whereas the people of Aryavarta are bereft of good qualities. Thus the ruling of mlecchas is also in Bharata (India) and its islands. Knowing all this, O great and intelligent sage, you should just perform the devotional service to Lord Hari.Gurundas are Britishers . Gurundas are people speaking Gurundika language which is English .Now let's see another prophecy in Srimad Bhagwatam . Srimad Bhagwatam is popular for its authenticity as there are total 100+ commentaries on this Purana from 14th century to 21st century . Earliest complete commentary which is available completely today is by Shridhar Swami who was born in 14th century .So there is no question of Interpolation in Srimad Bhagwatam .The First Chapter of 12th canto of Srimad Bhagwatam briefly describes the future kings of the dynasty of Magadha and how they become degraded because of the influence of the Age of Kali. There were twenty kings who ruled in the family of Pūru, in the dynasty of the sun-god, counting from Uparicara Vasu to Purañjaya. After Purañjaya, the lineage of this dynasty will become corrupted. Following Purañjaya there will be five kings known as the Pradyotanas, who are then followed by the Śiśunāgas, the Mauryas, the Śuṅgas, the Kāṇvas, thirty kings of the Andhra nation, seven Ābhīras, ten Gardabhīs, sixteen Kaṅkas, eight Yavanas, fourteen Turuṣkas, ten Guruṇḍas, eleven Maulas, five Kilakilā monarchs and thirteen BāhlikasNow Srimad Bhagwatam is the Purana which mentions about Prophecy of Britishers atleast 500–600 years before their real advent . Alberuni mentions Srimad Bhagwatam in his works so this Purana is atleast 1000 years old . The Commentary of Shridhar Swami of 14th century has this verse . You can check if you don't believe over Digital Library of Free & Borrowable Books, Movies, Music & Wayback MachineThis is the verse mentioning Britishers in Bhagwatam ( Bhagwata Puran )Śrimad Bhagwatam 12.1.28ततोऽष्टौ यवना भाव्याश्चतुर्दश तुरुष्कका: ।भूयो दश गुरुण्डाश्च मौला एकादशैव तु ॥ २८ ॥Eight Yavanas will then take power, followed by fourteen Turuṣkas, ten Guruṇḍas and eleven kings of the Maula dynasty. So clearly the Sages could see future so there is no question of Interpolation in Bhavishya Puran .
The Great Controversy (book) was mailed to us in San Francisco. What's it about and why do the Seventh Day Adventists think I need to read it?
I was born and raised Seventh day Adventist. There has been a theological crisis going on in The Seventh day Adventist church since the 1970's. Many of the leading scholars in our church have called into question the credibility of Ellen G White. For example theological scholars have said for many decades that The Great Controversy is largely the plagiarised work of other well known 19th century theologians of EG White's day. Yet Ellen G White claims The Great Controversy, it's content, was revealed to her in vision by God. EG White is our church's great prophet. Our interpretation of scripture is based on what EG White claims was revealed to her in vision. For example we have a Doctrine known as The Investigative Judgement. This doctrine came about shortly after an event in 1844 known as "The Great Disappointment " ; ( before the formation of the SDA church ). The Second Coming of Christ had failed to materialise on a specific date in 1844. The culmination of events leading to that specific day in 1844 began in the 1830's. An uneducated farmer in the USA claims he had worked out based on scripture that Christ would return in 1843 ie the 2nd Coming of Christ would be in October 1843. The group of Christians that accepted this new doctrine were known at the time as Adventists. When Christ did not return as predicted they then claimed their calculations were a year out because there was something they hadn't factored in. Then when Christ failed to return in October 1844 the Adventist movement largely broke up; but there were a young women amongst them of the name of Ellen Harmon ( her maiden name ) who claimed it had just been revealed to her in vision the true significance of October 1844. ( A few years prior to 1844 when she was 12 years old she had suffered a head injury from a fall ).She claimed it was revealed to her in vision that Christ's work on earth hadn't been 100% completed at the time of The Crucifixion, and that October 1844 marked the start of an Investigative Judgement in heaven where Christ with God The Father will go through the lives of every person who has ever lived to decide who is worthy of salvation and who is not. Then at some time not too far from now ( it is believed ) Christ will withdraw his mercy for the forgiveness of sin. At that point sinners will forever remain sinners because Christ's mercy has been withdrawn from mankind. ( This doctrine is obviously at odds with The New Testament which says that the crucifixion is a one time sacrifice by Christ for all men for all time. Then shortly after the withdrawal of Christ's mercy from mankind, Christ will return to take the rightgious to heaven. Everybody who has ever lived will be raised from the dead to see The Second Coming. The wicked alive and the wicked dead raised from the dead will be left on earth. Christ will return to heaven with the rightious; living with Christ in heaven for a 1000 years. Then after the 1000 years return to earth with the saints, cleanse the earth with hell fire; before establishing the New Jerusalem, on earth with the saints .The trouble with our Investigative Judgement doctrine is that it is based on a misinterpretation of Daniel 8:14. ( " Unto 2300 days then shall the sanctuary ve cleansed" ).Adventists had interpreted this as meaning the second coming of Christ will occur in 1844, if the 2300 day prophecy in that text means 2300 years rather than 2300 literal days. After "The Great Disappointment " a teenage girl amongst them ( EGW) claimed she was told in vision that the 2300 day prophecy had indeed been fulfilled but that they had got the significance of the event in October 1844 wrong, rather than any wrong date. Hence the birth of the SDA doctrine mentioned above called The Investigative Judgement. Then in the 1970's a leading Adventist theologian, an Australian of the name of Desmond Ford, pointed out that the word used in the Bible for Day meaning a prophetic year wasn't used in the original language of Daniel 8 : 14. ( Theologians have to study Bible texts in the original languages rather than Bible texts in translation ). The word used in Daniel 8 : 14 for the word Day is the word in that ancient language for literal day. Meaning that the actual time the prophecy in Daniel 8 : 14 was fulfilled, was 2000 years ago, not in 1844 !Other Adventist ministers say they'd also noticed this error as theology students but quickly learnt that that's a taboo point to raise. So, the Adventist theologian Ford, started preaching about this error back in the 1970's. However the leaders of the Adventist church, at the head office, pointed out that the Adventist church will have no good reason to exist if our Investigative Judgement doctrine is wrong; because that is the only doctrine that is unique to the SDA church they said. ( plus our church is a multibillion dollar per year organisation through the billions it collects every year from our churvh members in tithes and offerings ). So our church leaders at Head Office ( "The General Conference" ) ordered Ford to stop preaching that the SDA church has misinterpreted Daniel 8 :14. He would not stop preaching this. So they eventually fired him claiming that they are paying him to preach the official Adventist line even if it is wrong, they said !EGW's credibility is central to Adventism. She is the pillar on which Seventh day Adventisim stands or falls. As any Adventist will tell you they were brought up from birth to believe that the Seventh day Adventist church is the only true church. Because we are the only church that both keep the true Sabbath day - Saturday, accept Jesus as The Messiah ( unlike the Jews ), and have The Spirit of Prophecy, mentioned in the book of Revelation in the Bible. We as a church claim to have The Spirit of Prophecy because we have Ellen G White and her visions. That is how central EGW is to Seventh day Adventisim. In fact SDA's claim they are The Remnant Church, The Book of Revelation talks about; because we have EG White as a prophet, plus we keep all 10 commandments including the 7th day Sabbath commandment. There may be other denominations that worship on Saturdays as well, but they don't have EG White, so they are not The Remnant Church ! That's how central EG White is to Seventh day Adventisim. So as the only true christian church we do not associate ourselves with other so called christian denominations. And we don't marry or date other so called chtistians. Since The Bible teaches not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers. These other so called Christians in all the other denominations not being true christians, since they defy God by worshiping on Sunday instead of the 7th day, Saturday.ie they all worship on the pagan day of rest Sun Day, The Day of the Sun. The Roman Pagan day of rest. But see later -It turns out that The General Conference have been aware since the early 1900's via DM Canright, a Baptist minister convert to Adventist , that the 7 day week didn't exist in the Roman Pagan world, and that the Roman pagans never had a day of rest apart from days off on random days during the month for shopping /market days. The pagans never had a religious day of rest.Since the 1970's 100's of Adventist ministers many from Adventist familiess going back generations have been sacked for similar reasons; questioning the credibility of EG White; on whom the SDA spin on Bible doctrine is largely based via her visions. Many others have kept quiet for fear of loosing their pension ( SDA ministers enjoy the highest average pay of any major denomination it is said ).Thousands of SDA members are leaving the church every year; However growth is coming from Latin America and Africa. All the above is the real reason earlier answers on Quora down play the importance of EG White's Great Controversy book; because EG White is now an embarrassment.Eg Many of her prophesies were not fulfilled ( Eg. She used to prophecy that Christ would return in her life time - she died in 1913. ). Adventist publishing houses have edited out EG White prophesies, in her books, that didn't come true. ( she wrote hundreds of books and papers with the assistance of a team of writers - her formal education ended when she was 12 years old ).Other things she claims, were revealed to her in vision are things like; black people are mostly animal because, she claims, their forefathers had committed the sin of amalgamation ( ie sex with animals ). So blacks being mostly animal explains why they have such large private parts she insinuates ! Such claims were in line with the racial biologists of her day. Scandinavians are famous for their pre christian fertility religions involving sex with animals, yet there is no claim in her writings of them bring mostly animal ( in fact they are placed centre fold in Adventist publications suggesting that Scandinavians is the way God intended to make man; a throw back to the eugenics movement in the SDA church. More of that later). As we were saying EGW doesn't pick on Scandinavians as being half human despite their ugly practices; she instead accuses the Hottentots ( ie black South Africans who at the time were in the way of white expansion, in southern Africa ). Uriah Smith, another SDA pioneer then claims EGW was also referring to The Dinka Indians of her own country. as another example of races of people who have degenerated into half humans. The early SDA 's then hotly debated whether salvation is for blacks given what was revealed to EGW in vision about blacks being mostly animal. Forgetting of course the story in The Acts if the Apostles about St.Philip and the first Ethiopian ( ie Black African ) convert. Many of the early Adventist pioneers refused to accept newly freed ex - slaves into the SDA church.Since the time of those writings, she claims were revealed to her in vision, scientists have long established beyond a shadow of a doubt that man cannot produce half man half animal offspring by having sex with animals. And that reminds me, it was an African theologian who carried out most of the scholarly work in deciding which books of scripture should be compiled into our Bible and which books should be left out !The council that met some years later that took the final decision basically endorsed his studies.I've also written to the UK SDA conference pointing out that Moses of the Old Testament had married a black woman and that Jesus is a decendent of Moses; so it is blasphemous for EGW to claim Africans are mostly animal. And how come God covered Miriam ( Moses' sister - in - law ) from head to toe with leprosy for criticising Moses for marrying a black women; accord to The Old Testament, if Africans are mostly animal ? The Bible teaches you reap what you sew. Yet EG White & Co want to rewrite scripture instead, finding themselves stuck with ex - slaves who aren't white, so it's going to be difficult to integrate them into society without the white population ending up an off white race of people like the Spanish, Italians, and French people in the South of France. People, like Mexicans and Brazilians mixed in with their former slaves. They advised me over the phone ( The Adentist Discovery Centre in the UK ) to write in with all my questions. I emailed the centre a few years ago. They still haven't replied; as expected. After all, General Conference says on their Home Page, their website, that"they do not answer questions of a religious nature " !How odd !Another embarrassment for the SDA church is Kellogg of Kellogg's Cornflakes fame; a co-founder of the SDA church. He was also part of the American eugenics movement and had set up an organisation called The Race Betterment Society. One of the members of the society had written a book which Adolf Hitler read whilst a prisonor in the early 1930's; before his rise to power. It's from ideas in this book Adolf Hitler got his Master Race and Final Solution ideas about exterminating the Jews of Europe. ( explains why the Adventist church in Israel is virtually nonexistent ). The Race Betterment Society was disbanded at the end if World War 2. The society's papers are archived at The California Institute of Technology, Caltech. It was also Kellogg who'd persuaded the newly elected president of the USA in 1920 to ban non - white migration to the United States. Kellogg and Rockrfeller were good friends. Kellogg moved in high circles. He eventually left the SDA church complaining about the poor quality of the individuals that had been elected to lead the denomination.A famous critic of the SDA church in EGW 's lifetime was a Dudley M. Canright, an SDA; who had joined our church as a Baptist minister convert. One of the main tenants of faith in the SDA church is Sabbath keeping. ie the 7th day Sabbath largely kept by Jews.In The Great Controversy EGW claims it was revealed to her in vision that it was the Roman Catholic Church responsible for changing the day of worship from Saturday to Sunday when The Roman emperor Constantine became a Christian and Christianity became the state religion in Rome.As an educated man Canright, was very disturbed by such claims; EG White claims were revealed to her in vision. Plus he'd spotted that The Great Controversy was similar to writings in other theological books he'd come across - ( it is now widely acknowledged that The Great Controversy is in fact largely the plagiarised writings of well known theologians of EGW 's day ).As an educated man he was also aware of other canonical books not found in The Protestant church's Canon of books. One of these books is The Epistle of Barnabas; long established as describing events in church history occurring some time between AD 70 and AD 132. The Epistle of Barnabas states in a matter of fact way that the early Christians of this period between AD 70 and AD 132 worshiped on Sundays. And every student of history knows that Constantine was born in about AD 274 and died in AD 337, and was the Roman emperor AD 324 - 337; so how could Constantine have been responsible for changing the day of worship from Saturday to Sunday as claimed in The Great Controversy when without a shadow of a doubt Christians were worshiping on Sunday more than 200 years before Constantine was born, as documented in The Epistle of Barnabos ? And how could Roman Catholics be responsible for changing the day of rest from Saturday to Sunday when the Roman Catholic Church did not exist before the 1100's ? EG White as a girl who left school at 12 was unaware at the time, that there is a difference between The Catholic /Universal/ Early church AD 30 to 1100, and The Roman Catholic church. The RC church came about in the 1100's when the Eastern and Western branches of the Universal or Catholic church split to become the Eastern Orthodox Church and The Roman Catholic Church. In The Great Controversy EGW goes on to say that the day of worship from Saturday to Sunday came about because the Roman pagans already kept Sunday as their Day of rest; Sunday meaning Day of the Roman god of The Sun. So when Constantine accepted Christianity he made Sunday the official day of rest, because Sunday was aleady the pagan day of rest im the Roman Pagan world says EG White in The Great Controversy. So Canright wrote to classical scholars in London who work for The British Museum to verify claims EGW makes in The Great Controversy about Roman pagan life at the time if Constantine and the Sun Day festival EGW describes in The Great Controversy.Canright did not tell the classical scholars why he wanted to know this information apart from stating he was a vicar wanting to know more about life in the Roman pagan world at the time of Constantine. The scholars wrote back with deviating news that stripped EGW of any credibility as far as Canright was concerned.Important points the scholars made robbing EGW of credibility were :1. The 7 day week did not exist in the Roman Pagan world; the pagans observed monthly cycles not weekly ones the scholars advised. ( Hence I guess new moon and all that in our calenders ).2. The pagans never had a day of rest; not Saturday , Sunday, Monday or Tuesday; the pagans worked 7 days a week.3. The Sun Day festival ( EGW refers to in The Great Controversy ) was an annual event not a weekly one, the scholars advised Canright. Neither was their any religious obligation for the pagans to refrain from working on their annual festival Day of the Sun, the scholars went on to say.Canright published his findings in a couple of books entitled Seventh day Adventisim Refuted. He eventually left the SDA church.General Conference have suppressed Canright' s books for the last 100 years; but thanks to print - on - demand computer technology his books are now back in print, and may be purchased on Amazon. And I forgot to mention EG White it is said ( I'd like to think this is not true ) took part in necromancy speaking to her dead husband. It was only a dream. But EG White had been pleading with God for direction in relation to her role as a church leader. She then had a dream? which she claims was from God, in which her dead husband ( her husband, James White died on 6th August 1881 ) gave her instructions. She was so impressed by the advice she wrote to her son, WC White, about the dream in a letter dated 12th September 1881.The letter is published in the book, "Ellen G. White, The Retirement Years".This reminds me that as a child in Baptismal class The Bible worker at my church used to proudly tell us EG White in vision had supernatural powers. Whrn in vision she held a large family Bible in the palm of her fully outstretched hand, without getting tired. But some years ago I was reminded in an article, about EG White that The Bible says miracle workers of God do not perform miraculous feats for the sake of show or theatre. It's also disturbing that original Adventist literature had Ra The Sun god masonry symbols buried within its literature. General Conference eventually removed such symbols after protests. It is said these symbols were not placed in Adventist literature by accident. EG White, it is said, were deeply involved in Free Masonry. In fact she placed an obelisk on her husband's grave, and EG White stated in her Will that an Obelisk should be placed on her grave; Free Masonry symbols. And a close colleague of their's had a pyramid placed on his grave.Give me The Bible !
What is a typical week in the life of a Seventh Day Adventist member look like?
A typical week in the life of seventh day advent member!By typical, I don't know really what you mean, but I'm glad to share what I understand about and if I'm out of content, requestion or request surplus comment to enable me to formulate adequate response.I guess you know, for more than a century, if not from the beginning of the creation, we believe that a week starts on Sunday (the first day) and finishes on Saturday (the seventh day: sabbath). I have been involved in many arguments and discussions about the Autority and recognition of a weekly circle consideration. From history to theology, I have shown how this is the case, supporting my arguments with geographical and historical quotes and fact without quoting the Bible, and once someone has a picture of the connotation, then we go on in the Bible itself. Many of those who object this weekly order do so on nothing that supports their objection and simply say: “that's how it has been”. The statement, although popular, doesn't seem realistic and true. Because life has been always unfair, doesn't mean it's true. Because a cow is respected in India doesn't mean can't be eaten around the world. Because of most African Culture believes in ghost doesn't mean revolutionarized ones can believe in. In fact, to understand the true meaning of something, we go on providing facts supporting that something-truth. That's how we are convinced of efficiency of technology in almost everything : Facts first. For mentioning few historical events, did you know that before Jesus christ people didn't refer to Sunday, Monday, Tuesday etc…instead refer to 1st day, second day and so on? If so, how would Monday become the first day? Even so, nothing here proves that Sunday was to be a first day. Again here we go.Did you know that, in pagan mythology, Sunday was a special day reserved for god sun that provided life and Saturday was a holy day reserved to remember the human creation? Did u know that up to around the 5th century A. C, this custom was kept until emperor Constantine, due to political gain, completely changed the weekly circle after he was himself converted to Christianism and wanted to keep his rituals around his throne?Did u know that in early month staggering, around 40 days formed a month and 10 days were a week? In jews’ philosophy and mythology 7th was and is sacred. 7th day is sabbath, 7th month for dedication, and 7th year for remembrance.Whatever is a case, the actual weekly circle was altered around the 5th century and this new custom was to be honored by laws and decrees…so, whenever we say “that's how it was”, we ignorantly don't know the history, the source, the beginning of that…and as you know, to understand the problem you must outsource the origin of it: the root. So, to any Adventist member, Sunday is the start of a weekly circle and Saturday is day of worship…a holy sabbath, because it is said to “remember the seventh day and to keep it holy” exodus 20:8. For those who said that they can worship God in any hour and any day in any circumstances. True. But God has a special one to be put aside and be sacrificed for His cause. For instance, in all countries, you can vaguely use any colors. But when it comes to the colors of a national FLUG you are guilty to use any colors irrespective of which country you are. That's it. In any circumstances you can described or related to your country by any colors, but for representing it, you must use the recognized and recommended ones. The same applies with God. Worship him any time, any how, but remember the sabbath is a symbol of creation and obedience between God's children. Unless you are not one, don't do otherwise too, now that you know.
