PDF Editor FAQ

Is there really a difference between Walmart's Spring Valley brand of supplements and more expensive ones from a health food store such as Whole Foods?

The problem is you don’t know. The supplements market is so thoroughly unregulated that you have few ways of telling the purity, potency, and even the authenticity of most of the products. For safety and purity you can look for the USP (United States Pharmacopeia) seal or the NSF (NSF International) seal, two reputable, nonprofits that test and certify supplements for a fee. But the truth is that few supplement manufacturers actively seek that testing..There is also a private company, ConsumerLabs, that tests and reports on supplements, but since their income derives from their members, there is a charge to access their data. LabDoor is another such company, and its results are free, but it makes its money by selling supplements as well.Otherwise, you are pretty much at the mercy of the either the manufacturer or retailer to stand behind their products and perhaps to have done some testing before putting them on the shelf.Walmart does do at least some sampling of its store brand products, but how thorough these are I don’t know. Puritan’s Pride, a low price mail order vendor, does maintain its own analytical laboratory. But there is also no guarantee that a high-priced product sold in a health food store is well tested. Tests by the New York State Attorney General’s Office, for instance, found that many herbal supplements, including some from health food stores, contain less of the advertised ingredient than labelled or even none at all.Bottom line: without hard data from one of the sources above, your Walmart supplements are likely to be as good as more expensive ones you buy elsewhere.Caveat emptor.

Can Walmart, GNC, and Target brand herbal supplements be trusted to actually contain what is printed on the labels?

You can’t be sure, but that’s true for most brands of herbal supplements. LabDoor is another such company, and its results are free, but it makes its money by selling supplements as well. UL (Underwriters Laboratories) has recently entered the field as well.Otherwise, you are pretty much at the mercy of the either the manufacturer or retailer to stand behind their products and perhaps to have done some testing before putting them on the shelf.Walmart does do at least some sampling of its store brand products, but how thorough these are I don’t know. I would expect that Target and probably GNC would test as well. Puritan’s Pride, a low price mail order vendor, does maintain its own analytical laboratory. But that’s still no guarantee. Tests by the New York State Attorney General’s Office, for instance, found that many herbal supplements, including some pricey ones from health food stores, contain less of the advertised ingredient than labelled or even none at all.Bottom line: without hard data from one of the sources above, your Walmart, GNC and Target supplements are likely to be as good as more expensive ones you buy elsewhere.Caveat emptor.

What is the best way to serve my country?

There are countless ways to develop your country. First and foremost, you will have to decide on your economic system, your political system and your laws. There is only one system developed so far that guarantees the development of your country without any major risks, if you do it right, that meets the necessary and basic needs of your citizens without resorting to some heavy divide regarding wealth, priorities, social environment and objectives - Communism/Socialism.A Communist country has an economy that is centrally planned, meaning all supply and demand is calculated by the government based on statistics compiled by informative bureaus. This means that the economic input and output of the country is only based on what is necessary, not what is wanted/needed/estimated to be wanted/needed like in Capitalism. The upside to Communism is that it’s an economically viable system, that is also politically flexible. A Communist system doesn’t necessarily have to be one party. But in many cases around the world, it is. And this is either a downside or an upside, depending on how the regime is regulated by the public. If a regime is benevolent, then the country will see great triumphs and it will protect it’s people from outside threats effectively, like China has.If a regime is malevolent, then it can become a hellish experience for the public, where an actual fascist dictatorship poses under the guise of a Communist state.A Capitalist country can be a risky venture, if your basic economic elements(land, capital, labor) cannot support it’s objectives.Capitalist countries refuse to trade with Communist countries, because the Communist country is self sufficient and can dictate prices and agreements unilaterally.Capitalist countries are free market, meaning they only want to dictate prices and rules however they see fit. If a Capitalist country cannot back up a demand, it loses in value over time, gradually depreciating.Capitalist countries can sometimes be fascist dictatorships, sometimes democracies, sometimes fascist dictatorships working under the guise of a democratic system but having only two leading political parties that, behind the scenes, are not separate entities but only pose as such to create the illusion of a democratic society, such as the US and Canada.Capitalist countries can flourish in the short term, if they have major bargaining chips. Capitalist countries such as the US flourish because they destroy their competition periodically through use of military force, forcing other countries to trade with the US in absence of the destroyed countries which were their original trading partners.Capitalist countries promote policies that are short term effective, but long term not a viable solution. Due to their competitive nature, they have to use underhanded and bully tactics often to get low prices from their trading partners, that is only advantageous to them. Capitalist countries like the US can do this because of it’s large population base, built up infrastructure and abundance of natural resources. When a Capitalist country is small, such as in the case of Balkan states, they are unable to compete with larger Capitalist countries and thus continue into a state of downwards spiral. The rule of law plays a large part in how a country also develops. If there are things such as rampant corruption, then it can hinder growth and external relations. In our increasingly globalized world, how a country develops is slightly different than it would’ve been 100 years ago. 100 years ago it would’ve been to be industrialized and technologically advanced, and more in terms of science and culture than infrastructure, healthcare and education. Nowadays the masses are a lot more educated and the population has sky rocketed thanks to better medicine such as antibiotics and the availability of basics such as food, water and electricity. So, for 2018, to develop your country, you would require, these top 10 things:Good and free healthcare for all. Graduate the best doctors, build the best hospitals and have the best equipment, in every sense of the word, from traditional medicine to more non-traditional approaches, such as the quality of the food and water, as well as it’s availability to the masses, on top of exercise and other types of wellness facilities, such as yoga, psychiatric and neurological facilities and religious institutions. This is the most important aspect of a developed society. Without a healthy population, the society is doomed to fail, generation by generation, as the genetic sample will further be prone to impurities. The US has all of these things available - except free healthcare for it’s citizens. As a result, over 60 percent of adult Americans are overweight and there are tens of millions who have no access to free healthcare. How do you think this is going to effect the country in the long term? Obesity is not only a problem for physical health, but also a problem for mental health, as it effects all chemicals in the body, including the mind’s. Healthcare should be priority number 1 for any country, because a population that is dead or diseased isn’t very useful or productive, now is it? One plague could wipe out everyone you know and then what? The country can literally collapse overnight. I would have:1 large hospital for every 50,000 population. A large hospital is any facility able to house at least 200 patients, that is on 3 floors or more.1 medical clinic for every 5,000 population. A medical clinic can employ 4 doctors at a time, in addition to 6 nurses, and 4 medical administrative support staff.1 government soup kitchen for every 10,000 population. Where free basic food and meals can be served to the masses.2. Free education. All levels of education should be free, and incentives should be given for youth to sign up for higher education after graduating high school, both extrinsic and intrinsic motivators should be used for higher education. The shaping of a nation starts with it’s educators - in early childhood development, through teenage years and into adulthood. The country should have the top educational facilities, utilizing all methods available. The government also needs to create it’s own department or ministry, whose sole purpose is to employ newly graduated students. This would eliminate the fear that despite having a diploma, you will not be able to find a job. I would also teach children multiple languages. Maybe the country’s home language, 2 regional languages and 2 international languages. So in 2018 it would be a good idea to start off with say your country’s home language, two of your local languages(major languages within 2000 km of your home country), and two international languages used for trade. So in 2018 it would be a good idea to teach them English and Mandarin Chinese. Maybe, sometime in the future English will become obsolete as a trade language and be replaced by Hindi and Mandarin Chinese, who knows. I would also teach them essential skills in high school, such as how to do basic chores around the house and basic life skills such as finding a job, apartment, cooking, also including psychology, intelligence analysis, abstract and critical thinking. I would also introduce martial arts as part of the gym curriculum from grade 1 to grade 12. Taekwondo seems to be working pretty good for South Korea, so why not adopt some martial arts system, regardless of it’s origin and whether it’s patriotic to adopt it - hell I’d adopt Shotokan Karate as any nation, even if I’m not Japan. I would have more creative arts than just logical stuff. I would also spoil them by giving prizes to best students, as a motivator, and all students would get a prize, from best to worst, all prizes would be from the best prizes such as a PS4 and TV with some games to a gift basket with toys or something, all depending on age level. And it should be quarterly instead of annual, as in after graduating a grade, as to motivate them to be consistent.3. Free housing. There should be entire city blocks built for government housing, and state of the art facilities instead of just the cheapest things known to man. But you will have to earn these apartments based on merit, instead of just having 10 kids or acting like you’re crazy or mentally ill and that you can’t work. This way we can eliminate homelessness and the social decay arising from it. When I see people in my neighborhood, which has multi million dollar mansions in it, begging for money because they’re young people who couldn’t afford to pay rent for 1 month and got kicked out and lost everything, it brings unnecessary sorrow as to why it has to be that way, when I live in a country that has 35 trillion dollars worth of natural resources. I would also make all electricity, water and heating/air conditioning be free. Free utilities for all. Why pay for utilities, this should be basic. I don’t pay for utilities but that’s only because our apartment contract is all inclusive…but if I don’t have to pay, neither should anybody else.4. Basic income supplement. Make a basic income supplement according to the living expenses of your country/city/area. Make it so that the supplement is enough to get by paycheck by paycheck, for things such as shelter, clothing and food. Enough for you to survive, but not enough for you to lay around doing nothing all day. Make it an incentive to work, by providing free education and employment center guarantees, this way a person that is out of work won’t be demoralized and mentally broken. You can’t imagine how demoralizing it is to be a law abiding citizen in one of the richest countries on Earth, to be out of work all of a sudden, to have a disability that prevents you from working 50 percent of jobs on the market, to be searching for a job for months unable to find it because you’re under qualified, because you’re unable to afford schooling, and to have a family and mouths to feed at home, but unable to feed them, while the government cracks down on you for not being able to feed them, threatening to take away your children, while your landlord threatens to kick you out, without any remorse or humanity for your situation, instead of helping you, making it worse. This is the policy at hand in Canada in 2018, and we’ve been in a situation like this as a family. Weak labor laws, coupled with inhumane treatment of unemployed parents with small children by the government, school system, landlords, indifference, is what cultivates people to turn into criminals in order to survive, and it breaks families on a mass scale. Having a basic income supplement, one across the board, regardless if you’re disabled or a single parent or temporarily unemployed, etc. It would eliminate many problems, instead of just being anal about balancing the budget via a million different welfare programs catered to each individual need, be it a disability pension, relocation, child benefit, social welfare check, etc. I would have food stamps to supplement this basic income and that would be the only additional social welfare program.5. Mandatory military service, in addition to a volunteer army. Even though I grew up obese, so it would exclude me, I would make it so all fit and healthy individuals age 18–25 serve 1 year in the military, a traditional sense of what the military is. You can choose when to serve between those ages, so if you are planning to go to university at age 18, on a 4 year program, it won’t hinder your education, but you must go once you finish. So say you sign up for medical school at age 18, you finish at age 24 after 6 years… You get the idea. 1 year of mandatory military training, for those that are fit to serve, meaning a BMI of less than 30. Anyone having a BMI of more than 30 is exempt from regular military training. Instead, they get put on specialized military training, which has a minimal amount of physical exercise, such as few kilometer walks(2–3) per day, you know, low intensity exercise, but a lot more learning in class, in addition to all the other military things, such as learning how to shoot and whatnot. Think of it as an officer’s school, or a special ops school, except you’re none of those things, but more along the lines of auxiliary military careers such as water purification, strategy, communications, cooking, sewing, peeling potatoes, intelligence analysis, mopping and sweeping floors, all these thinking based jobs, as well as the repetitive ones, but all easy nonetheless compared to grueling PT. This way even if you try to abuse the system by getting out of regular training and going for the more easy going specialized training, we are still using your potential to the maximum, just in a different way according to your capabilities at that time. This mandatory military service can be in reserve, but there should also be an active volunteer army, a professional army, so to speak, so it’s not all conscripts. The military can also teach people trades and whatnot for the real world. A population that has served is a more disciplined population, as well as a more organized population. No whiny, arrogant, abusive, spoiled brats, both in terms of youth and adults alike.6. Infrastructure. You need to build roads, railways, airports, seaports, spaceports, subway systems, public transit buses, etc. Because getting goods and services around, as well as human capital, is essential to your country’s development. This is why Germany gave huge loans to Poland once Poland joined the EU - so Poland can build brand new roads that will connect Germany to Russia, for the gas supply, so Germany and Russia can trade. But it will also benefit Poland. This is also why potential EU members suddenly have had a surge of infrastructure being built up in the last decade - such as my home country of Macedonia, which has seen at least a dozen new highways being built from scratch, in addition to beautification projects of cities such as that of new parks and decor, creation of paid public parking spaces, re-organization of local roads in congested small towns into one way streets, etc. I would build huge sidewalks and walkways. It’s also good to build mixed residential and commercial buildings, meaning 2 floors of commercial, such as shops and cafes and bars and nightclubs and restaurants, with the second floor being a balcony/patio/walkway, and the third floor and beyond being residential apartments and condos. This way people don’t have to buy a car just to go to the supermarket. I disagree with this exaggerated North American urban planning, that puts too much emphasis on cars. It is more costly in the long term than it is beneficial to the domestic economy, especially if the country is a manufacturer of automobiles, to have more cars than one needs. Whenever I see a family of 2 people, such as a couple with no kids, that have 6 cars, I think it’s very wasteful. Or even a family of 4 who have 6 cars is also wasteful. All of the materials put into those cars could’ve been allocated for something else more practical. This is what I mean when Capitalism is risky due to how it works - over consumption, greed, all fuel wastefulness. Bridges, sewers, electrical grids, dams, water supply, renewable energy - especially the last one. I would also make all public transit free.7. Interest free bank loans. A revamping of the financial system. I believe that loans should be interest free, aka not in terms of a percentage, or an annual percentage. I think that bank loans should have a set monthly fee, according to the total amount borrowed. This way you don’t have some impossible mathematics, such as $2,000 on a 19.99 percent interest loan with $45 monthly minimum payments actually adding up to $4,500 in reality, like American and Canadian credit card companies try to trick you into paying. It should be fixed, and it should be smaller with every increasing sum, kind of like sending a Moneygram amount. So if you borrow $100, your monthly fee should be $10. If you borrow $1000, your monthly fee should be $50. If you borrow $10,000, your monthly fee should be $100. If you borrow $100,000, your monthly fee should be $500. If that didn’t make some sort of sense, at least I hope you got my point. Either way, it should be FIXED. No percentages that rise or lower, just fixed. Garnish wages if need be, seize assets, after certain grace periods of 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, etc.8. Strong law and court system and police force. The police force should be a lot better than the military. Military spending shouldn’t be the highest, it should only be maybe 1 percent of the overall budget. When you have a strong, working justice system, with minimal corruption and misconduct and politically motivated and discriminatory practices, you can now start enforcing rules and regulations properly. Prison reform. Prisons should be like in Norway, meant to heal to instead of punish or turn people into slaves, like in the US and Canada. Police officers should be paid a good amount, to motivate them not to be corrupt and actually do their jobs. I don’t want too much emphasis on the police like in the US and Canada. We don’t want a police state, after all. They should just be a support structure, a side character, a background noise type of thing, instead of a main character that shapes society. Educators should shape people’s behavior - not gun toting SS brutes.9. Give an incentive for people to work. If the West does anything correctly, is that is pays generous wages to professional and trades people, such as doctors, engineers, woodworkers, metalworkers, technicians, programmers, etc. Students shouldn’t have to pay for an internship - instead be paid to intern. Remember - there are no bad students, only bad teachers. If your system in place was good, then you can easily produce some sort of gross domestic product based on what the interns do during their work period. As with any other job that produces GDP, they should be compensated for their work. So if you motivate professionals to produce results by paying them a decent amount of money, no country will brain drain your intellectuals.10. Strong telecommunications network. Internet, cell phone towers, unlimited data, cheap plans, in 2018 internet and information is key. On the internet you can find a plethora of informative resources. I would have info stations around cities, such as info walls inside bus shelters and on subway platforms. Touch screen, accessible to the internet, directories, video calling service, educational billboards, etc. Constantly educating the public. Maybe even give out free cheap disposable Google Glass type devices at public transit locations, kind of like the headphones they give you on airplanes. The whole world, accessible to you via Google Glass. Make it so there are special garbage cans to dispose of these devices on every street corner, and they should also have GPS in case they get disposed of in the wrong place.Aside from this Socialist dream utopia that will undoubtedly some day become a reality due to technological innovation, you can make use of the concept of entrepreneurship in Capitalist democracies to fulfill any one of these things. Your best bet is in the alternative energy and technology sectors. These are the industries that have the potential to change the world overnight. Things like retail, manufacturing, services and natural resource extraction are just means to an end, and those means can change if energy and technology does. Many jobs will get replaced by robots and AI, which is not at all a bad thing if every human still has access to the goods that they need (but the way people are retarded, impractical, power tripping and greedy they will most likely prevent people’s access to this and start an anti robot revolution).Ultimately, if you’ve seen the movie Lucy from 2014, you will realize how realistic and important that movie is in relations to technological development and our connection to the universe. All of these sci fi concepts like superpowers can be real with the proper gene editing and technology. Our only obstacle lies in understanding how all of this works scientifically to make it a reality for humans. Imagine some day being able to teleport at all, it would eliminate the need for cars, planes and spaceships. Imagine some day being able to fly, it would fulfill a childish desire in every person and grant greater freedom as one of the fundamental principles of the human sense of freedom is freedom of movement. Imagine some day you can convert energy to matter with your hands, and create entire cities and planets and even galaxies with just your imagination. This would eliminate things like construction, natural resource extraction, manufacturing and retail. Imagine you could manipulate your own physical needs - to have no need for hunger, thirst, sleep, urination, being impervious to the elements, etc. This would mean you will not need to eat, drink water, shut off for 8 hours in a 24 hour period, have a sewage system or need shelter to shield yourself from moisture, temperature, wind and so forth. Imagine being able to regenerate your wounds at will, you might even be able to achieve physical immortality! These are concepts that are not impossible, just not within our current level of understanding both of the nature of reality, the physical universe as well as our connection to it in order for us to tap into this potential and make it real. We need to know the science as well as the engineering to make it work. This will take time, even with millions of minds all contributing their own small individual contributions to the larger collective.
