In the UK if the faith school gets subsidised by the state it has to teach the national curriculum in science.The faith schools I have taught in as a supply teacher taught the GCSE science curriculum. At least in the UK the Catholics and Anglicans accept science textbooks in the science classes.It is different if the faith school is not subsidised. They still have to teach the national curriculum, but they can leave things out. This means there are many times the ultra orthodox Muslims and Jews get into arguments with the state, where the school does not attain the standard of a community school and has to pretend it is a collective “home school" which is unregulated.In the UK the biggest problem is not the unregulated “except by social worker" parental home school, but the “community school" whose sole purpose is to avoid “interference" by the LEA in what is taught and how it is taught.But do not misunderstand. Very often the highest achieving schools in the UK can be “private" or faith schools not subsidised by the state, on national exams that test knowledge of the national curriculum.The simple fact is that there can be faith schools in the UK that can teach evolution and produce evolutionary biologists after their students graduate from their high school into a world famous university that started out as a faith school.

In Vancouver, for example, Anglicans were among the first to embrace homosexuality, both blessing homosexual marriages and allowing openly homosexual priests (as well as female priests). This is rare since the Anglican community as a whole outside Vancouver is extremely conservative. Some forms of Anglicism, and even Catholicism, would be supportive and wouldn't find the concept of an atheist Christian necessarily contradictory. Probably Unitarian or any of the United would be most inclusive. Steer clear of fundamentalist, evangelical, and charismatic denominations. They'll either want to argue, convert, or exorcise the atheism out of you, which would only have the effect of causing you to lose any interest you have in Christianity.Probably most interestingly, Bible colleges on secular university campuses, and the churches associated with them, would not only be most accepting, but also most understanding. That was my experience with Bible school students on campus. Again, the level of acceptance would be relative to the degree of their liberal education and inclusive methodology.
