A dental health care center should always be safe and clean nd patient friendly because people are more anxious and tensed while meeting a dentist as compared to a normal genral physician. For a safe dental health centre in most of the places the dental chair is placed inside the clinic with a partition nd all instruments which are sharp are never left un-attended all used syringes are discarded as soon as they re used, toxic substances like amalgam are dispensed in a dispenser, the waste are collected by bio-medical waste collectors. The water tanks used should be regularly cleaned up nd stagnation of water around the clinic should be prevented. So not only waste management in the clinic is important but also the management of the surrounding area is important. For healthy clinic, all instruments which are used are autoclaved those instruments or products which are not suitable for autoclaving are sterlized by other methods..For a healthy clinic even a patient ts medical history is important because a pt. First time being on own health insurance. How does one go about using it?

I’m going to assume you are in the U.S. First thing to do is go to the insurers web site and register with a user name and password; you’ll need info from the card they should have sent you, like policy and group number. Then log in (if not already) and find the search feature for providers. Do you already have a doctor, dentist, and optometrist you use? If so, search and see if they are in the provider’s network. Figure out the extent of your coverage. Is it just medical, or do they include dental and vision? Many times the three are covered by different companies. That’s what my employer does so I have three insurers. Anyway, if your doc is not in their network you should consider switching to one that is. You can use an out-of-network provider but all services and tests will cost you a lot more. So start with medical and do a search for a doctor. The site will probably allow you to search by geographic area, specialty, gender, languages spoken, etc. Figure out what’s important to you in a doctor and pick one. Note that not all of them are accepting new patients. Put their name in your profile as your primary care physician (PCP). Maybe call them and confirm they are accepting new patients as the info is not always accurate. If you haven’t had a physical for a while, then call that doc and schedule one. Do the same thing for dentist and optometrist if you have that coverage. Thanks to the ACA, preventative care costs little or nothing, so take advantage of it. Again this may be three different insurance companies. Also search for the in-network hospitals, pharmacies, and urgency clinics. Then make note of where they are. Print it and keep a copy in your desk. If you ever have to rush to the ER or an urgency clinic, you’ll want to go to one in-network if possible. Its not always possible, like if you are out of state traveling, or if seconds count to save your life. But unless your life is on the line, you won’t want to be rushed to the nearest ER, and then have them admit you because its serious, and ONLY THEN find out its all out-of-network and you get to pay most of the bill. [And friend, a hospital stay in the U.S. is not cheap.] If you’re seriously hurt, you don’t want to have to log in to your account and think about where to go, so its really good to know beforehand. So anyway, there will be deductibles and co-pays so get ready to pay your share. Carry your insurance cards with you in your purse/wallet. You’ll need to hand them over first thing when you arrive for an appointment. Keep the network in mind. [Kinda sounds like the Matrix, doesn’t it.] If your PCP or dentist refers you to a specialist for any reason, it will be someone they know and have a history with. This does not mean the specialist is in your network. Same deal with things like physical therapy. Just because the orthopedic surgeon who fixed your foot is in-network does not mean the PT center is. So always check it. Also not all procedures are covered by all companies. If your doc says you need some special procedure, call your insurance and make sure its covered.Welcome to healthcare in the U.S.!
