PDF Editor FAQ

How can I help my husband who has been in prison for 31 years understand that he’s not in prison anymore? What can I, as his wife, do to help him adjust?

If you are in an apartment, move to a small house with a yard.Get him a rescued or previously abused dog to take care of so that much of his time is taken up by walking, feeding, brushing, training, and talking to the dog. Walking the dog three times a day will get your husband out and looking at the neighbourhood.Ask him to build you some birdhouses or feeders. Buy a book and materials. Nothing bigger.Or get him a cookbook with four or five ingredients and let him cook.Go on outings through large hardware stores to see what draws his attention. Buy some of that.Keep your world small, branching out only when your husband indicates he would like to explore.Go on picnics to parks. Take the dog.Plant a hedge, three cedars at a time, until he feels he can do more on his own.Ask him to keep a diary and share it with you.Develop a cover story for new people. Stick to it. Perhaps tell them that you haven’t been together long and that your husband used to live in another city. He is retired now.Design a flexible schedule where certain things are done at certain times on specific days.Go grocery shopping together. Talk about the products and get him to form and express opinions on different foods.Help him make meal plans.Try to think of any volunteer work he could do close to you and close to home. Cutting grass for elderly neighbours. Painting fences. Trimming shrubs. Outside work.Get him sunscreen.Good luck.

Should I go with a fitness app or a gym trainer?

In all seriousness, I think an app might very well be worse than nothing. You input your age, goals, bodyweight, strength levels, etc…and it spits out some sets, reps and weights. However, there are two problems with this. One small problem. One big problem. The small problem is that this plan is not really customized.I mean…they are, sort of, but not really. When I send clients a questionnaire, it has 33 questions. Many of these questions are quite open ended, like“describe your current diet in detail”“describe your training history from a young age till now”“what are your goals”“Anything else you want to share to help me design the best possible program for you? “I’d like to see an app process that information as well as me. Maybe in fifty years. But probably never. So, you might be left with a turd of a program. Or an OK one. Roll the dice. The big problem is that you aren’t really learning if you just use an app. When I write someone a training plan, in the rare circumstance that they run into issues, I help them adjust as needed. I talk to them. I work with them. There’s a conversation about how they feel and together we make the necessary adjustments. They are still making decisions as much as I am, and they are learning during this process. I am merely providing feedback on what will be optimal. They aren’t training blindly, which many people do with an app.I am, first and foremost, a teacher. Not a trainer. Not a coach.Teaching someone what to do, and telling them what to do are not the same, and is the foremost reason why apps will always be second fiddle to good trainers.Follow me on Instagram for daily diet and training tips! Why are my flabby arms not getting toned even if I am doing a daily workout?

Whenever I hear someone doing a daily workout, I am always intrigued, because if you are doing a single, specific, unchanging workout every single day…it’s probably not very hard! And if it’s not very hard…it’s not very effective. If you are a beginner and your workout is doable every day, it’s probably not stimulating very much progress!I advocate getting a coach. They’ll be able to design a workout plan for you that actually…works out.Furthermore, diet is a big factor. Flab is generally going to be excess fat, and excess fat is only going to be reduced with a caloric deficit. That’s best accomplished with diet.Contrary to popular belief, you cannot spot reduce, those bicep curls might be building muscle but aren’t going to do much for the fat that’s there.DIETFinally, give it time. If you’ve been at it a week or something, perhaps you aren’t giving it enough time to actually work. Sometimes what you are doing is actually working and you just aren’t patient enough.Follow me on Instagram for daily diet and training tips!
