PDF Editor FAQ

Do they have a drug test in class 1 aviation medical?

You asked “Do they have a drug test in class 1 aviation medical?”I’m going to disagree with the other two answers and say absolutely not.The standards and procedures around examination of applicants for medical certificate are pretty clear and detailed. The FAA tells the medical examiners what is it that they need to look for and what are their tools for establishing those. In terms of drugs, indeed, FAR 67.107 states that substance dependence is generally a disqualifier, with very specific requirement for determining that a person is “over” such dependency.[1][1][1][1] However, the FAA does not mandate a drug test for the applicant. The FAA does mandate a urine test. That urine test does not include a drug test. How do I know? Because the FAA publicly states what they do test:[2][2][2][2]Glycosuria or proteinuria is cause for deferral of medical certificate issuance until additional studies determine the status of the endocrine and/or urinary systems. If the glycosuria has been determined not to be due to carbohydrate intolerance, the Examiner may issue the certificate. Trace or 1+ proteinuria in the absence of a history of renal disease is not cause for denial. The Examiner may request additional urinary tests when they are indicated by history or examination. These should be reported on FAA Form 8500-8 or attached to the form as an addendum. So the examiner is allowed to add more tests, but these are not the default. Unless you have some history, you should not expect to be drug-tested for your class 1 medical. I’m not sure why the two other answers say differently, I would like to see some evidence for that.Having said all of this, if you are about to be employed as a required flight crew by an airline, you should expect regular, pre-employment and during-employment random drug testing. These are required both by the FAA and by common sense. Your driving record had better not show any DUIs. You fail a drug test, expect to lose your job, your medical, and likely face enforcement action by the FAA. But such drug test is not a pre-requisite for your class 1 medicalFootnotes[1] Mental -- FAA FARS, 14 CFR[1] Mental -- FAA FARS, 14 CFR[1] Mental -- FAA FARS, 14 CFR[1] Mental -- FAA FARS, 14 CFR[2] Guide for Aviation Medical Examiners[2] Guide for Aviation Medical Examiners[2] Guide for Aviation Medical Examiners[2] Guide for Aviation Medical Examiners

Will I fail a pilot medical or have problems getting a job if I have a hypertonic scar on my elbow, which was not from a surgery, just a normal wound by falling while playing sports?

I wouldn’t think so. I would disclose the injury on the FAA Form 8500–8, discuss it with the AME so you’ve covered yourself. As long as the arm has full range of motion, it shouldn’t be an issue. I don’t think it would be a issue for the employer, as long as you possess a valid Medical Certification for the class of operation.

Can I be a commercial pilot if I took Adderall when I was a young kid but I haven’t touched it in 20 years?

Having such a history will require answering the relevant question on the application for a medical certificate “yes” (question 18.m on the current 8500–8, about mental health issues, IIRC). And that will need additional documentation, discussions with an examiner, and almost certainty a neuropsychological evaluation.I’m not going to comment on the specifics of your case, no one could, but there are certainly plenty of people with medical certificates who took one of the ADHD drugs as kids. It’s not inherently disqualifying (it is if you’re taking them currently), but it does require additional documentation and testing. You should talk with an AME, and perhaps join AOPA and get in touch with their pilot services people (they can help people work through medical issues with the FAA). You can also apply for a medical certificate before you have your license (you’d be looking for a 1st class medical certificate). Again, I’d strongly suggest consulting someone with direct expertise in this area. One thing you must *not* do is lie on the application. The odds of the being discovered eventually are pretty good, and the results will be very bad. If the FAA decides you deliberately withheld this information, you might well never fly again - with *any* sort of ticket.

I used this program a lot during my university years because i needed to convert some files into pdf format. I had a good experience. I liked the fact that I could add more than 1 file to convert, also that the process was very fast and without any problems. It reads pdfs very well and it works pretty good. I didn't edit though but mostly for conversion it was one of the best programs.
