It’s a way of perceiving, not necessarily a behavior. Additionally, causes other than sadism, like anger or low self esteem, can create what appear to be sadistic behaviors.I don’t appear sadistic. I restrict my actions because even though I would enjoy hurting people, I don’t want to hurt people. Just like you don’t eat everything you see that looks tasty. There are consequences.Original Question: What are some signs that you might be sadistic?Original Answer:Suspecting you might be sadistic is a sign. But ultimately what you have to ask yourself honestly is - do you enjoy seeing someone in pain or causing pain, for it's own sake (not to get revenge, feel better about yourself, etc)?Note that a person can be an empathetic, consent-limited and/or guilty sadist. Also, you can be a non-sexual sadist, there are a lot of ways to experience it.If you do feel guilt, I’m right there with you. But it helps to learn more about it to be more honest with yourself and avoid harmful behaviors. Feelings and desires are different than actions and are not bad per se.

As a teenager I went through the same phase at age of 13 I wanted to get my lip pierced I did all the research regarding health and wether it was safe. All I needed was parent’s consent, my mother at first asked me why I wanted it, I thought it was cool back then and I tried persuading them but my mother was against it.She said that I was too young and I could get it when I turn 16 .She believed that I had to be a bit more mature in order to handle any of the consequences.To be honest I am happy that my mother didn't allow me to pierce my lip because I would've regretted it. Later on I read a lot about it and came to conclusion that she was right. Through that period I wanted to change many things on daily basis. so I would advise to give her a little bit more time to think about it. As I personally think that 13 is a bit too young to make such decisions.Good luck :)

My first thought used to be: RUN.Sounds over the top but living in a country full of Nigerians where I mostly heard the bad things, I developed the stereotype that all Nigerians are bad peopleMy first encounter with Nigerians as I remember was in 2017,a fresh new country, new university classmates and suddenly one day a group of Nigerian boys in our town followed us on a walk, touched us without consent and invaded our personal space. We are three girls, minding our business and this happens.Where else would our view of Nigerians go?The stories and weird experiences kept happening, and some have elevated to a terrifying level (stories of domestic violence, murder etc). So yeah, my hesitation to be welcoming or calm around Nigerians used to be a problem.Now, it's more like I don't really care, as long as you're generally a decent and respectful human being.There have been perks to Nigerians from the stories I encounter (Money, all day, everyday) and I've thankfully met fellow Nigerian students who have been nothing but kind and helpful to me and my friends.This question is really chalked up to stereotypes and experiences, in my opinion.
