PDF Editor FAQ

What is the best comparison to nursing?

There is no way one can possibly describe being a nurse or CNA, CMA. It’s the job I’ve ever loved.

Which program before nursing school? I have just finished up my pre-reqs for nursing-I'm in CA and competitive-so on the off chance I am not picked up for spring semester, should I do CNA, CMA, or LVN while I wait until next years chance to apply?

If you aren’t chosen for the next group, it is a great idea to pursue a position in one of those fields. CNA will afford you more hands-on exposure to patient care, charting, medications, treatments, and generally the way things work in the field of nursing. I don’t think you would benefit as much as an CMA. Same with LVN. By working as a nurse’s aid, you will learn a lot that will give you a leg up in the nursing program. You will also get to see how a nursing education differs from the real world of patient care!

Have you ever changed careers later in life? What made you decide to make the change? Do you regret the move?

NEVER! I admit that initially I did not want to do what I presently do. My mother was a nurse, my grandmother was a midwife, and my great grandmother was what was called a “granny doctor”. I was expected to follow the path that was paved. I followed begrudgingly at first. Then I saw so much pain and on occasion abuse that I decided to stay and make the best of things. End result? I am not now nor will I ever be an RN, but I am simply THE BEST CNA..CMA…EMT that you will ever come across. I’ve delivered babies, and held folks while they took their last breath. I wouldn’t change a thing.
