How do Square and PayPal's transaction volume growth rates compare?

Here are some more precise estimates.Assuming that Square starting hitting the market in the Q4 '09timeframe, and PayPal roughly Q2 '00, then you're talking about thefollowing comparison (sorry if the layout comes out odd):PayPal (Q3 '01-Q3 '02) Square (guesstimates Q1'11-Q1'12)$920m $40m$1.21B $250m$1.46B $400-450m$1.62B $500-600m$1.79B $1-1.1BOf course, you're talking about completely different markets (online vs.POS merchant acceptance, concentrated marketplace (eBay) vs. fragmentedmarketplace, etc. etc. etc.) but still an interesting comparison.Sources:PayPal's volumes for their first few years are captured in a Google Doc at https://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=peXMNmkOXzYGYWifm7MLqEg - I'm reasonably sure those numbers are accurate. Here are some data points from Square via TechCrunch:Q1'11 $40m http://techcrunch.com/2011/01/10/sequoia-leads-27-5-million-round-in-mobile-payments-startup-square/Q2 '11 $250m Guesstimate based on TC citing $2m/day of volume as of 4/29 and $3m/day as of 5/23 http://techcrunch.com/2011/05/23/square-by-the-numbers-500k-card-readers-shipped-1-million-transactions-in-may/Q3 '11 $400-450m Guesstimate based on TC citing $4m/day of volume as of 7/31 http://techcrunch.com/2011/07/31/square-now-processing-4-million-in-mobile-payments-per-day/Q4 '11 $500 - 600m Guesstimate based on TC citing $2B/year (I'm guessing that's run rate) http://techcrunch.com/2011/10/10/square-processing-2b-in-payments-per-year-signed-up-800k-merchants-drops-new-user-limits/Q1 '12 $1 - 1.1B Guesstimate based on TC citing $4B/year (again, guessing that's run rate) http://techcrunch.com/2012/03/04/targeting-merchants-square-debuts-register-ipad-app-and-analytics-now-processing-4b-in-payments-per-year/

How Plausible is it to get the UK Tier 1 (Exceptional talent) visa?

Hi, first of all my heart reaches out for all those who are attempting this covet visa. People often complain this visa route requirements are too vague and hardly any solid guidance avIlable on type of documentation to prepare. I agree and I have been through that difficult phase while I was preparing to apply for it. Here is my time line if anyone is interested to know:12 April 2016 : Requested my peers to provide recommendation letters (4 letters in total)23 May 2016 : Got all four recommendation letters. More than month because my peers were too busy and I had to visit Malaysia for personal reasons.02 June 2016: Prepared my cover letter and CV. The most difficult part of the process. Selling yourself as a potential leader is not an easy task so it takes days to write. Remember you need to do it in boundary of 7000 words. Don't waste your time requesting for the grant of endorsement and showing unnecessary politeness. Always remember you are a leader and your getting endorsement is a reciprocal arrangement between you and the UK. Its a highly profitable deal for both of you so it has to be sheer professional.29 June 2016: Send all documents more than 55 pages excluding CV, Cover letters and recommendation letters.6 July 2016: My application reached Tier 1 processing team and HO collected payment.10 July 2016: Got email from the case worker, stating that I sent too many docs for criteria. Advised to bring it down to 10 supporting docs. I argued vigorously, stating that TechCity guidance while mentioning 10 docs rule, uses word "should" and not the "Must" so it's a recommendation and not compulsion. She in return advised me to refer to HO guidelines for the tech visa and damn it uses "Must". At That point very first time, I learnt this bizarre fact that HO guidelines and TechCity guidelines are not the identical one though not so much different. Having shown my place, now I was in a fix to choose and discard documents to meet the magical 10 rule. Took me two days to sort it out.12 July 2016: My application pack sent to TechCity with only 2 recommendation letters extra 2 which I sent were buried in HO file. Now painful and agonising period of wait starts. I had rough calculation in my mind that of 25 wkg days somewhere around 9 September.28 July 2016: Got endorsement approval letter from HO, less than 13 wkg days! Even fast track takes 18 wkg days02 August 2016: Applied for entry clearance at BDHC Mumbai through VFS BKC standard processing that is 15 wkg days.18 Aug 2016: Received vague email from BDHC stating "Your application is processed and a decision" has been made". I was out of Mumbai and required to travel.for 12 hours to reach VFS. God knows how I spent that time with lot of thoughts. So much advices on internet forums on how to decipher these vague emails from BDHC to know if your visa is approved or not. According to the observations of those so called experts, mine was a clear cut case.of rejection and that further pushed me in worries.19 Aug 2016: Receive my docs and passport. Visa was approved. But wait! My BRP letter said that I have been given 5 years leave which was not ok as for entry clearance it should have been 5 years 4 months. So what should I do now? Leave with it? Or try to get it corrected. There could be no Admistrtive review if your application is not refuse overseas. So I made a simple application to ECO pointing the error and mentioning the guidance published on 6 April 2016.24 Aug 2016: Got a call from BDHC, that they realised the mistake and I needed to submit my passport again for the correction. So I did the same.25 Aug 2016: Got a call from BDHC again to collect my passport..Bingo! My old vignette was crossed with "Cancelled without prejudice" stamp and new vignette was issued with new BRP letter.6 September 2016: Flying to London for good.Moral of the story: Don't ever visit any immigration lawyers, they can't do a thing. If you have a talent, then you will get this visa no matter what. Folks at TechCity and BDHC are honest and impartial. Just stick to the rules and guidance, don't lie, be brutally honest, don't beg, act like a leader and you will get your visa. Feel free to ask me anything for help. And once again, believe that you, yourself can prove your talent better than anybody else. All Immigration rules are available in public domain. All related guidance, appeal decisions, judicial reviews, Independent Chief Inspectors' observation and advise reports to UKVI are also available, should you need to go through admin review. I have so.far gathered 100 docs in case if required but again, the whole process employed by UKVI is honest, impartial and transparent do chances of genuine mistakes are slim.

Why did White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany give Leslie Stahl a book containing a purported healthcare plan knowing that it did not contain a healthcare plan?

Because Trump thought that leaving 60 minutes in 45 minutes, and returning with a big book suggesting it is his healthcare plan would be a great piece of Political Theater. Not to the fact that it had a lot of blank pages, the Tax Cut and Jobs Act 2018 that removed the individual mandate for healthcare by taking away the tax penalty was its main content, and a few Congressional discussion papers as well as his health-related executive orders. I guess by the number of pages of the parts, there would be less than 300 pages of content in the big book. A book that size must have at least 2000 pages bound in there, depending on the weight of the paper used.https://fresh-news-now.com/2020/10/22/kayleigh-mcenany-handed-lesley-stahl-a-blank-book-of-trumps-accomplishments/ (https://fresh-news-now.com/2020/10/22/kayleigh-mcenany-handed-lesley-stahl-a-blank-book-of-trumps-accomplishments/)Leslie Stahl flicked through it and reported that it also contained some of the memos and executive orders that had variety of effects from zero to small, and some would be inactive without PPACA that supported them, such as the requirement for health insurers to accept pre-existing conditions. Some are not enforceable as only Federal Administration can be directed by the President, and Private or Commercial Entities do not have to agree or comply with any Presidential Directive that is not supported by legislation. So a request to lower drug prices can be ignored.
