What is the most interesting thing you have heard or experienced during your train travel on the Indian Railways?
Source:http://www.the-nri.com/travel/indian-train-travel-guide-sleeper-classThis is actually what an average train experience in sleeper class is like. I read it on this blog and I am sure that this is exactly what its like to travel in a sleeper class! :If you haven't traveled in Sleeper Class, you haven't seen India!I hate buses. I would rather spread a Times of India near the toilet and sit on it in a sleeper class compartment all night without reservation than travel overnight in a Volvo bus where they give complementary mineral water. I am like that!Airplanes are buses that fly which makes the experience a lot worse. The whole excitement of embarking on a new journey usually dies a premature death on the way to the airport latest by Security Check.Trains on the other hand are wonderful. The ride is consistently smooth. We can roam around or lie down comfortably or stand by the door. We get to see the beautiful country side, meet interesting fellow passengers or just sit by the window and read a book, share food and life stories with interesting strangers and a lot more! Okay, that was the best case scenario in a train journey. But, let’s face it. Not all train journeys are that magical. Here is how an average train journey is…The Five Minutes of HopeAll Indian males aged 17 – 29 almost religiously practice this ritual. Five Minutes of Hope symbolizes one of the ultimate Indian fantasies – (No, not Savita Bhabi) Falling in love with a hot girl you meet in the train! It has happened in a couple of movies but other than that, no one has ever seen that happen. The ritual starts exactly five minutes before boarding the train when the Indian Male realizes that the probability of meeting a hot girl in the train and falling in love with her is non-zero. This non-zero probability, even if it is one in 10 billion, excites the Indian Male.He floats in a dream sequence imagining how he could do the whole “How I met your mother” thing with his children. The ritual ends when the Indian Male looks at the reservation chart pasted near the entrance only to find some old people and other Indian Males like him in the vicinity of his seat.ReservationI am sure you must have noticed while you were traveling overnight in sleeper class that people around you have dinner as soon as it gets dark and by 7:30 in the evening the middle berths would be up, the lights would be off and most of your fellow passengers would be pre-snoring. (Proving that if you take the TV out of the equation, we’re all still cavemen)One time, it was only 7 PM and a fellow traveler, M54 wanted the middle berth up! Mildly peeved at the prospect of having the middle berth hanging on my head all evening, I once asked him how he managed to sleep so much and so early. He replied, “Look son, when I bought a sleeper class ticket, I reserved the whole berth. I want to utilize it fully”.I tried to explain that his reservation has been fully “utilized” the moment the Oriya chap sitting in his seat graciously made place for him as soon as he entered the compartment with a reserved ticket!“I don’t want to waste my reservation”, he sternly replied. It is very hard to argue against the Indian Paisa Vasool logic. The gentleman was hell bent on treating reservation like real estate that needs to be fenced and protected. India must be the only country where reservation can be “wasted”. By 7:40 PM, everyone in the compartment was ready to sleep! May be that is the reason why the compartment is aptly named “Sleeper Class”.The Kindly Adjust FamilyThe Kindly-Adjust family consists of the father M33, mother F29, two kids – M6, F3 and grandma F61. And the whole family put together has one confirmed berth! But they’re a family and this is India where family comes first. Social protocol dictates that you renounce your berth rights, go stand near the door and“kindly-adjust”!M33 rushed in carrying a lot of luggage and ordered everyone to move their legs keenly scanning for space to put the luggage. He pulled out a huge suitcase from underneath the berth and asked, “Whose is this?”“Mine!” I replied.M33 gave me a brief condescending stink eye for using up almost half of the space under the seat. Yes, a how-can-someone-bring-so-much-luggage stink eye coming from a person who brought 12 pieces of luggage, 4 extra people and a huge bag of grain that is too big to fit under any seat!F29 being the good Indian wife she is, obediently stood behind her husband carrying little F3 in her arms, occasionally criticizing M33’s sub-optimal utilization of limited luggage storage space. F61 agreed with F29’s opinion from which I inferred that F61 is F29’s mother and not mother-in-law as I previously assumed.Meanwhile M6 being charming little fellow he is, has already started plotting an Occupy Window Seat campaign. The window seat – after all is his legitimate right by virtue of being small and only six. With such nefarious designs in his little mind, he approached me with his most innocent face and asked in his most innocent tone what book I was reading trying to strike a conversation.Five minutes later he was sitting on my lap looking out of the window and waving to strangers. Who knows, he has probably set his eyes upon his next conquest already – the chocolate bar in my bag!The rest of the family sat on the opposite berth while other co-passengers did the needful and “kindly adjusted”.The Train Traveling WifeRight opposite to my lower berth sat F27, a young mother traveling with her baby probably going back to her husband after a brief stay at her parents’. Traveling alone with the baby, the parents and the husband are naturally concerned about F27. The end result of this concern is an incoming phone call every 10 minutes from the husband who asks her which station has passed by and if the baby is still asleep.I can’t say much about the stations but the baby would’ve been fast asleep (instead of going “wuah wuah *sniff* *sniff* wuah wuah” on an infinite loop) had the father refrained from obsessively calling to enquire about her well being or had the mother possessed enough common sense to put her mobile in silent mode. (Parenting Tip: Even babies hate listening to the same ring tone every ten minutes!)Motherhood being such a demanding task probably left F27 too tired. She too, like the rest of the sleeper class people of the country, fell asleep by 7:30PM probably dreaming about her doting husband who would come to receive them next morning without brushing his teeth wearing a sleepy face, an unkempt beard, an old T-shirt and unwashed shorts swinging his bike/car keys impatiently with his index finger eager to carry luggage while nursing that hangover from his brief stint at bachelorhood after such a long time. The Lonely TechieM26 is found in the trains only on Friday nights and Sunday nights. All his journeys are short weekend trips to his hometown from Bangalore/Hyderabad where he is a software dude. No one knows when M26 got into the train. No one knows much about M26 because he rarely interacts with his fellow travelers. But what we know is that as soon as he enters the train, he tiptoes his way onto his upper berth (the preferred berth of choice) with his laptop bag (which also contains weekend clothes stuffed into it) and sits there alone. The moment the train leaves the station, M26 begins to feel bored and restless with the dull pace of life. M26 is a very private person with his own private Internet connection. He opens his laptop, connects to his office VPN and checks email once again. After the usual status updates on Facebook and Twitter, he moves on to checking out the girls from various matrimonial sites his father has shortlisted for him. This activity bores him too. After all this is what he has done in the office all day!M26 is restless again. This time he takes out his earphones and continues to the watch that latest (pirated camera-print) movie he has left midway last night. This goes on for about an hour after which his laptop’s battery gives up. He curses the laptop, eats the pantry car made egg biryani and starts forwarding goodnight SMSes before falling asleep. If it is a day journey, he gets down with his DSLR camera with extra large lens and heads to the door. He carefully chooses his spot and begins to click the cows, the trees, the fields and occasionally, some poor people who live in the slums along the tracks in black and white mode!M26 doesn’t get the results he desired because the moment usually passes by the time he finds the button to set the f-number. After pondering for a while, he declares that sunlight is not appropriate for photography and retires to his upper berth and begins to take a few pictures of his own fingers in macro mode. Satisfied with the results this time, he packs his camera back carefully waiting to get back home and upload them on Facebook so that his friends can “Like” it.M26 is one of the few people to have mastered the art of traveling in sleeper class without making eye contact with anyone! The Sound of MusicNote: For best results, imagine David Attenborough reading this out for you.Out there on the side-lower berth is The Dude. The Dude is no ordinary dude. He is the remarkable DesiDude. Unique to the heartland of this country, DesiDude usually spends most his travel time (literally) hanging out (at the door) with fellow DesiDudes feeling the fresh air, enjoying the scenery and occasionally passing comments on girls who use the toilet. But this particular DesiDude was traveling alone. He realizes that there is little he could do at the door without his mates. Luckily DesiDude has his very desi-looking Chinese mobile phone with questionable battery life and extra loud speakers. And so the DesiDude volunteers to be the TJ (T for Train) for the evening.Life as the TJ doesn’t come easy this time of the day. DesiDude now faces the daunting task of livening up the evening for his fellow sleeper class citizens. DesiDude is fully aware of the calculated risk he has taken. One wrong song and he’ll have to face the deadly stares of his irritated co-passengers – a mistake that could cost him his (cell phone’s battery) life.DesiDude starts off slow and careful belting out sad “melodies” from the eighties and early nineties sung by an exceptionally high pitched female voice and/or Kumar Sanu. The cheap speakers resonate in the melody producing a dull buzz in the background which sort of makes it up for the complete lack of bass. As he gains confidence with each song, DesiDude carefully moves the playlist into his favorite genre – the latest Dhink Chak Gult hits!

What would happen if Hinata cheated Naruto with Kiba?
(This is a hypothetical scenario. If you get mad then f^ck you to. Bye!)Before I begin, I’m gonna tweak the term “cheated”. Hinata doesn’t strike me as the cheating type. I’d see Naruto (possibly) cheating w/ somebody close or an old flame, but Hinata not so much. There’s more than one way to cheat. Most people envision the physical act of cheating, but you can emotionally cheat on a partner, as well. You can be in a relationship that is physically fine, beneficial, or “just the usual”, but be missing the important aspect of intimacy. The relationship runs like clockwork. For example, Hinata takes care of the kids and home, she cooks, cleans, has a meal ready for her husband. Who then returns takes a shower, may eat or not and then goes straight to bed, ignoring his wife and not bothering to ask about her day. This goes on and on; until Hinata begins to feel unappreciated, or invisible. Naruto and her rarley talk, watch tv together, or discuss fulfilling topics.Naruto fails to notice his wife’s moods or peculiar habits. He fails to bring the lunches she made to work and that bothers her.Hinata runs a smooth ship and Naruto makes the moola, but there’s no connection or chemistry to be found. Hinata is extremely devoted to Naruto… even to her own detriment and I’d see her never gazing at a single soul in lust. Since very little points to this character going out of her way to be extroverted, flirty, or even attracted to others in a way that would cause her to step out of her comfort zone. Hinata’s stay at home lifestyle and shy behavior is at odds w/ attracting a new mate. But if anything was to occur it be an outside distraction that causes Hinata to pay more attention to her surroundings. She’s the one being challenged and in this is where we find the possible element of cheating. The only time Hinata seems to interact w/ the public is when her children are involved in affairs dealing w/ the academy. Possible special functions, village wide events, visiting family, Neji’s grave, and when she needs to go grocery shopping.I’d see her shopping in the market square w/ her youngest Himawari. Just another average day, when she suddenly sense somebody watching her, and she turns to find Kiba staring at her over a cart of oranges. He’s embarrassed and tries to look away, but decides to laugh it off. Hinata is surprised, but perplexed, as to why her ex-teammate was staring at her. Kiba rubs his neck and waves; while trying to suppress the slight blush that’s sprung along his neck.Hinata thinking nothing of it waves back and says, “Kiba-kun”, in that soft voice of hers.Himawari is curious about the stranger, but vaguely remember the brunette, as the big man w/ the dog.kiba walks over to properly say hi. He’s happily surprised to see Hinata. They chat genuinely about their day and the conversation soon fizzles out….Kiba keeps glancing at Hinata out of the corner of his eye. While Hinata is grateful to have run into Kiba…she’s wondering why he seems to be stalling. She asks then “what was he looking at earlier?” Kiba eyes widen a bit, before he confidently states Hinata’s hair cut was nice. It gave her a sophisticated appeal. He jokes how her old hairstyle seemed high maintanence and reminded him of a mop.Hinata is pleasantly surprised at the comment and brings her hand up to finger the edges. She states how she cut it to save time and convienence. Now able to envision her old style and the humor of it. She laughs and shakes her head.Kiba lets out a small grin and decides there’s somewhere else he has to be.Hinata thanks him for the time and conversation before turning away. Kiba now more than a few feet away wonders if he should ask….He tugs his jacket straight before asking Hinata if she wants to have lunch to catch up. If she decides to come out once in a while, he’d gladly take her for coffee. Before reminding her to not be a stranger. He splits.Hinata is perplexed and hesitant, but soon brushes it off as Kiba being Kiba.Pretty soon a week passes than a month. Hinata is washing dishes and listening to her favorite radio station. The kids are gone on some field trip of some kind and Hinata has the house to herself. She tries to forget that she wore a lovely little negligee, that she had to build up her confidence to buy in order to impress Naruto. He never seemed to care if she wore t-shirts and shorts, a bra or not. He’d just say, “That’s nice dear” before raising an eyebrow and passing out.She made his favorite ramen that evening, before running him a bath in order to sneak off and change. It was cream w/ black trimming and perfect little bows that rested on the shoulder straps and between her breasts. She always found her eyes a bit strange, but her breasts were easily her greatest assets. At least, that’s what Hanabi would say….“Nee-chan you were made to be a mother”.Hinata sighed before smoothing her hair and stepping out in a decidely sexy pose. She lies on the bed calling Naruto’s name before wondering if they could go to dinner tomorrow night. Out w/o the children for once. Naruto is silent before he pokes his head out and gets a glimpse of his indigo haired wife. He rubs his eyes before wondering what’s the occasion. Hinata tries to articulate a reply, but fails. Naruto now in his bottoms and white T falls on his side of the bed and kisses his wife. Hinata is on cloud 9, but Naruto soon ends it after smacking her bottom. He gets ready to go to bed….Hinata is confused and slightly disappointed. She wonders about dinner before Naruto replies…”He has to work late tomorrow.”Hinata then tries for the weekend. But Naruto looks at her in chagrin and says, “he’s busy w/ an upcoming renewal project and Shikamaru was helping him sketch up the plans. It’d have to be another time.”“Sakura and the medical board need the campus remodelled. I promised her ages ago…..We finally got the funds and we need to use them while available.”Naruto has a soft reminiscing look that quickly shifts as he sighs tiredly. He kisses her on the cheek absent mindedly before snoozing. He never even asked how her day was….Hinata is brought back to the present by the laughing host introducing a new guest. The radio steadly plays the instrumental, as the host drones on and on. Hinata gazes out of her window and sighs. Wiping her hands, she sits on the couch and begins reading her favorite magazine. Maybe the lingerie was a little over the top, but it’d be nice if Naruto noticed it.She was nearly naked and he just kissed her….was she that unattractive.Hinata then remembers Kiba’s offer. It seemed like ages ago, but did he mean it or was it just a throw away offer. Something to be said….Kiba was always a fast one growing up. Hot headed and always pushing others buttons. He never liked being ignored, but that tempermental nature allowed him to connect w/ others in a way…Hinata never could. He was playful and always uplifting. Maybe coffee wouldn’t hurt. She could talk to an old friend.Hinata tries to recall the number she rarely dialed and decides to wing it.The phone rings once, twice, three times and Hinata nearly dying from shame almost hangs up. Kiba answers w/ a flippant “Hello”.A “Uh…” is the reply and Kiba apprehensively asked, “Hinata…is that you?”She shakes her head before subconsciously smoothing her crooked ponytail.“Hey Kiba-kun, how are you?”Kiba wonders if she’s alright and Hinata laughs shyly. He smiles before chuckling on his end and decides to break the ice.“So what’s up Mrs. Uzumaki? Long time no see.”Hinata’s smile falls just a bit at that and she couldn’t fathom a reason why.“Nothing much. I was wondering….are you still up for coffee? I have a free day and well…”Kiba who was in the middle of grooming a new puppy is pleasantly surprised and finishes “—you wanna grab something to eat Hinata?”Hinata feels reserved, but expresses her interest. They hang up after promising to meet at a spot Kiba described as “Fantastic!”.Hinata changes out of her everyday outfit into fitted sweats, a tank top and off shoulder sweater in flats. She grabs her purse before stepping out of the door. They soon meet at “The Burn Bar”, a foreign established dining joint. That consists of a outdoor dining area that caters to the land of Fires weather and a indoor sports bar. It was pretty popular, but Hinata never had the time. She tended to frequent the usual establishments. Kid friendly environments were all she knew.As she walked up the cobble path to the bar, Kiba’s back had been towards her. His hair was healthy w/ sheen and his physique was in tip top shape. She was glad her friend took care of himself. Naruto never listened to her when it came to his ramen habit and she enabled him anyway.Kiba’s keen nose smelled lilac immediately and turned to greet Hinata. She stepped up bowing her head, as Kiba introduced her to the bars manager. She smiled politely and turned away, as Kiba finished conversing. Soon they went in and Hinata decided to sit at one of the back tables. Away from the big screen tv’s and other patrons. It was the lunch rush. Hinata was happy to be reminded that she was still a young woman. She often forgot in day to day life. She knew Kiba had no kids and wondered what he was waiting for.Kiba sat down and asked Hinata if she wanted tea, juice or if she drinked. Hinata eyes widened gazing at the menu. He shrugged before the waiter came by and asked for a bottle of hibiscus sake, and some tea. They gave their orders and the waiter scooped up their menu’s before leaving.Hinata sat their stock still, slightly blushing before second guessing her decision to come here. Kiba just observed the ex-Hyuga before commenting on her appearance.Hinata was impressed at Kiba’s mature nonchalance and polite behavior. She ended up smiling shyly before demurely laughing at the absurdity of their situation.Kiba asked Hinata how’s life. As Hinata evasively began to answer, he cut her off and asked again. “How was she really doing?” His eyes were direct, and to the point. Hinata appeared unsure before she spoke. Sometimes honestly, other times hesitant and omitting situations, but never the less….she spoke.Pretty soon lunch came and they found themselves discussing a wide range of topics. Kiba was pleasantly surprised by Hinata’s comments and Kiba left her reeling from his experiences. She could almost taste the distant wind and rain. He was a masterful storyteller. This one meetup soon turned into a ritual. Twice a month, a period for Hinata to breathe. She was allowed to unwind w/ a dear friend. He never judged her, they’d drink, laugh and act like she wasn’t married w/ kids. While Kiba forgot his fickle relationship w/ Temaki. Oh, she thought one evening….if only it could always be like this. No stress. No rules. Bound by dictations and oaths. She loved her husband, but they didn’t have this. Kiba’s presence was comforting and he actually noticed the little things. Maybe it was his senses, maybe real interest, or maybe being a great friend. It didn’t matter. It didn’t matter at all.(Alrighty then I’m gonna leave this blank. You guys can fill this in yourselves w/ your imagination. Because if I don’t this’ll go on forever…lol)Thank you for the question.
