2 hours and 28 minutes. The length of the movie Goodfellas.I was a Freshman in college when Mike asked me if I wanted to hang out and watch a movie. He was a Junior and played outfield in our college baseball team so I was feeling excited that he noticed me considering I was still pretty new. I was also not going home for the MLK holiday weekend like the majority of my school so it gave me something to do rather than sit around an empty campus.I get to his apartment, which was only a short 5 minute walk from my dorm, but I was a little nervous since that was my first time walking alone in the Bronx at night. In hindsight, he really should have met me at my dorm and walked with me to his apartment, but it was close enough so no big deal.He pops in the movie and we sit on his couch. Mike’s apartment was the stereotypical smelly jock apartment with dirty clothes in random corners and his sweaty baseball gear scattered on the floor. It’s college so that wasn’t really abnormal and not necessarily a deal breaker. Sure, he could’ve tried to tidy up a bit, maybe spray a little Febreze, but I let it go.I started picking up on his immaturity throughout the movie. Mike was a little goofy and would laugh obnoxiously at weird parts or just blurt out strange comments. Maybe he was nervous, but right off the bat, I had already regretted committing to the date. We just did not vibe at all. Not even a little bit.Then the movie comes to an end. I wasn’t planning on staying too late after, but I was going to ask Mike to walk me back to my dorm. That’s when Mike lets out a massive fart. And…..It does not stop there. He literally just starts ripping ass and chuckling as he is doing it.I was horrified.I swiftly stand up, gather my things and let him know I had to leave. At this point, I was willing to take my chances. I don’t think anything I would come across in my 5 minute walk would disturb me more than what I had just witnessed. As I am walking out the door, he gets up and yells down the hallway:“Come back, pull my finger.”Not kidding.

Hey!The very first thing that pops up in your mind when you talk about college are the grades,its a typical mindset . But to be very honest none of us will even remember their grades, GPA, marks etc. after they pass out from their college. You know why ? because colleges are not only for getting good grades ,passing exams and reading textbooks and meeting deadlines .Its so much more,TRUST ME!SNU is a place where you will realise how to utilize your time in the best possible way. You’ll be surprised to see the amount of things you can actually do that you have never tried.While exploring different clubs and events you’ll actually explore yourself,the hidden talents you have ,your actual potential ,your strengths and your weaknesses *Speaking from experience*.The main USP is its beautiful 286 acres campus with amazing infrastructure .And the best part is that its a fully residential campus so, there are no day scholars(yes,that’s a good thing ).Every student here becomes a part of your one big family,be it a junior or a senior. The students here are from different parts of the country so you actually get to see various cultures and traditions . Though I am a North Indian but some of my friends are from South so every year we celebrate pongal , onam,kavadi and what not and it feels so good because all of us together celebrate it with equal zeal and excitement as if its our very own festival.SNU has helped me grow mentally and socially , it has taught me so much. I can surely say that I’ve become so much more responsible and disciplined than i was when i came to this college . And i think that’s what matters the most ,right ?In short,my experience has been amazing so far and I’m so glad that Ichose this particular college and not any other .Cheers to SNU !

Let’s see, I shall start from the senior most appointment:Academy Under Officer (AUO): The best all round cadet of the course. Usually commands the Passing Out Parade (POP). May also win the ‘Sword of Honour’.Academy Cadet Adjutant (ACA): Responsible for maintaining the discipline of the Gentlemen Cadets (GCs) in the entire Academy. Usually one of the best all round cadets, may also be in contention for the ‘Sword of Honour’.Battalion Under Officer (BUO): Each battalion has one, similar roles and responsibilities as AUO at the Battalion level.Battalion Cadet Adjutant (BCA): The most fearsome personalities on the campus. Our BCA’s favourite punishment was Mussorie Nights.Senior Under Officer (SUO): Each company is headed by its SUO. Generally a genial and non-interfering person.Cadet Sergeant Major (CSM): At the company level. Responsible for day to day running of the company, promulgation of the orders, punishments etc. He is usually a hard task master.Junior Under Officer (JUO): each company has three of these JUOs, responsible for their respective platoons.Platoon Sergeant: recognition for meritorious cadets in 3rd term.Corporals: recognition for meritorious cadets in 2nd term.Pl post an image if someone finds one.
