I won’t use the word hard, but the syllabus is vast and the results are unpredictable.Let me divide my answer into three parts.Part A: Breaking down the results:CA exams have unpredictable results at all the three levels- CPT, IPCC and Final. The reason as to so much flexibility is the industry demand for CAs and Article Assistants.The result analysis of past 14 attempts (2010 to 2016) is shown below:CA-CPT results are ranging from 15% to 46%.CA-IPCC results are ranging from 4% to 32%.CA-Final results are ranging from 3% to 20%.Hence, taking the data of a single attempt would be meaningless. So, further to get the right data I have taken the averages of the above data for respective exams which decreases as we go to a higher level.Imagine 1000 students writing the CA-CPT exam, as per the average result, 312 students will clear the first level.These 312 will appear for the CA-IPCC exam. Out of these 312 students, only 41 will be able to clear both the groups.These 41 will further appear for the CA-Final exam. Out of these, only 4 students will manage to crack the code of CA Final.In nutshell, only 4 students out of 1000 manage to pass the CA exams, which makes the percentage pass to 0.4%.If that is your definition of a hard exam, then yes, CA exams by no stretch of imagination are easy. But then, these are just statistics and they tend to reveal more than they hide. There are many students who are not sincere and they spoil the statistical data.Part B: The Mammoth syllabus:It broadly covers every commerce related subjectMercantile Laws to Corporate Laws,Micro Economics to Macro Economics,Auditing and its advanced version,Direct Taxation to Indirect Taxation,Mathematics to Statistics,Accountancy to Cost Accountancy,Financial Management and its advance version to Strategic Management,Some more computer related stuff like Information Technology and ISCA.It also covers the practical training called articleship (of 3 years) and allied courses like GMCS (General Management and Communication Skills) and Orientation for developing those soft skills.The intention of the institute is loud and clear, they want the best product to sell in the market and hence the syllabus will only get bulkier with time.Part C: The passing AlgorithmThe CA institute has a unique algorithm for passing a student.For instance, CA-CPT has four subjectsFundamentals of Accounting (60 Marks)Mercantile Laws (40 Marks)General Economics (50 Marks)Quantitative Aptitude (50 Marks)The Rules areTo get minimum 50% marks in aggregate which means a student has to score 100 Marks out of 200 andTo get minimum 30% marks in individual subjects too.Not to forget the 0.25 negative marking for every wrong answer.This makes it a bit difficult to pass and the algorithm is even unique for IPCC and Final level exams.Hence, they say CA exams are a hard nut to crack.

Well… I have always been single. As is the case with everybody, had lot of crushes since teenage, but loved only one girl truly!Background :This was 3 years ago, when I was a CA student in the first year of articleship (internship). We have to do a compulsory soft skills course of ICAI in two parts, one in the first year of articleship and the other in the last year of articleship, called GMCS (General Management and Communication Skills).Story :I met a girl there and it was love at first sight! She was so cute..sorry she is so cute! Slowly got to know her, through the various activities during the course and realised she's also very smart and I was head over heels in love! She too responded and we talked for hours together on WhatsApp and became very close friends by the end of the 15-day course. In fact she was the first girl, with whom I even clicked a picture!We continued the conversations. She dropped many hints that she too likes me and I thought I should ask her! But then, I was afraid I may lose focus on studies and career. Also, my office and college was very close to home and she stayed in a different suburb of Mumbai and my family is very strict and orthodox in the sense that I wasn't much allowed to go out, socialise and enjoy! I couldn't even lie and go out to meet her!! (Though all the restrictions have now been revoked post-CA! :P)So I never had the guts to say and we just continued to be friends! We lost touch when our CA Final came closer, but still we maintained reasonable touch! Even after 3 years I still felt the same for her, so I thought that now I should muster courage and confess! At last, 6 months back, after our exams, I proposed her! But sadly, she was already committed by then! I missed the train!! :(Since then, I didn't like anybody that much! There were infatuations, attractions! But never felt it that intensely! But definitely some better girl out there is waiting for me, that when I meet her, there'll definitely be violins and guitars playing in the background! :PSo yes! Hi,As per Chartered Accountants Act, 1949 a person can be a member of institute if he/she has cleared final examination, completed training (articleship) and general management and communication skills course.It is clear that one has to complete GMCS to become a member of ICAI even though they have done articleship and cleared final examination.
