Three reasons, closely related to each other:The NBA is a league in which 1–2 players can make a big difference in the won-loss record and the revenues for a team. Each player makes a much bigger difference in a team’s fortunes, so when a player is a free agent, he can decide where he wants to play. LeBron James took this to another level in joining with Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh to decide to go to Miami at the same time (Wade was already there, but was a free agent.). The three of them brought two championships to Miami before Bosh retired and James went back to Cleveland.At this time, the NBA has a handful of once-in-a-generation players, such as LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Kwahi Leonard, Stephen Curry and Giannis Antetokounmpo. Combined with the first point, it is not surprising that free agents among this group have a great deal of leverage.For the last few decades, the NBA has been comfortable showcasing individual players, as opposed to the League. This was a marketing strategy partially driven by the miserable image the League had in the 1970’s, between the rumors about cocaine usage and the horrible incident in which Kermit Washington seriously injured Rudy Tomjanovich in a 1977 game, an incident that highlighted racial conflict that appeared to be just below the surface. The NBA actively marketed Magic Johnson and Larry Bird in the early 1980’s and then Michael Jordan in the latter half of the decade.Relative to the NFL, with the possible exception of the young Tom Brady or Pat Mahomes, a single player does not make that big a difference. The NFL has negotiated with its union the ability to hold to a player it designates as a “franchise” player one additional year beyond the time the player is eligible for free agency.Since the time of Pete Rozelle, the executive who became the NFL Commissioner in 1960, the NFL has been the “product,” not individual players or teams. More revenue is shared and the NFL has been successful in building a bigger brand than individual players or teams could build on their own.

The so-called ‘best footballer’ or ‘best football player’ is strange in my opinion. Messi can’t play in Buffon’s position, Buffon can’t play in Scholes’ position, Scholes can’t play in Cannavaro’s position, and Cannavaro can’t play in Messi’s position. How do we compare them and choose one of them to be the best amongst all? It’s really unfair. I think any best individual player awards, both regional and global award, should be given to one player in each position. We should have separate Ballon d’Ors for goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, and forward.That’s my opinion. Unpopular and controversial, I guess.

Hands down this goes to Eve Online.There are multiple answers here describing The Bloodbath of B-R5RB. Which probably should get this spot given that it was an actual battle that raged with over 7,000 individual players over the course of 21 hours. Spiking at 2,670 players on the same grid at once.But in terms of raw numbers that battle was surpassed by the “Million Dollar Battle” of 9-4RP2.I use quotation marks because it was less of a battle and more of a staring contest. Sure there were skirmishes over the course of a few hours but calling it a single battle is a bit of a misnomer.What it did do was bring over 6,000 players onto the same grid at the same time. Some fighting, most not. No other game can boast numbers like that by a long shot.
